Harada: Tekken 7 won't have xplay because 1st party security reasons, ask them

For me it's not. Couldn't care less about playing with people on Xbox and I would definitely opt out of playing against PC players.
Do you opt out in SFV?
It already has an audience equivalent to two Xbox one audiences. Also Sony not allowing xplay gives them the competitive advantage, and from what I remember people want more competition between the two.

None of that explains why none of them can't do PC cross-play. That version is dead and buried with this news.

The larger the player pool to draw from the better matchmaking works. It's a simple concept the benefits every gamer. If you find yourself arguing for the side of a corporation and cheerleading their lack of cross platform support you are more fanboy than gamer.

Ever since the launch of PS4 Pro, Sony has taken a U-Turn on their PC friendly policies that resulted in games like Rocket League and Street Fighter V getting PC cross-play support.

Street Fighter V only came out last year... You seriously think they've completely changed that policy, one they've had for like 10 years, in the space of 6 months? What is this nonsense?

A simple Google would tell you that there are still PS4/PC games coming out, like this one in January:
http://gamerhub.tv/article/31946/siegecraft-commander-available-on-multiple-platforms
Siegecraft Commander supports cross-platform multiplayer for 2-4 players between PlayStation 4 and PC as well as Xbox One to PC. Players can also opt for a birds-eye view of the battlefield by using a VR headset with a traditional gamepad or VR-supplementing motion controllers.

The actual reason why cross-play isn't happening is because Bandai Namco doesn't give a shit. Which is the exact reason I guessed last year when Tekken 7 cross-play first came up via a Twitter post of all things.

That's fair, but not at all representative of anything. Hell, I'd venture to say that those who prefer a more exclusive playerbase are a pretty small minority.

Oh, I wouldn't disagree, it's a very smart business decision. Just not in any way #4theplayers.

I think we mostly agree about why this is happening, we're just doing it in a disagreeable manner. Apologies for that. ^^;

Platform holders play to there strengths. From a business perspective it makes sense for the stances that both Sony and MS have adopted.

Not best for consumers but best for business, there business.

It's already big enough, so I don't see why PS owners should demand cross-play – it doesn't affect them.
I can't understand anyone who loves a game wanting to see the community cut off in to sections. More players means better matchmaking, quicker, even if your playerbase is well established. This in turns leads to a longer life for the game, which seems like a pretty big victory for all those who enjoy playing it?

Granted if you're gonna drop the game in a month or so it doesn't matter. Perhaps you are only looking to enjoy the game for that length of time, and can't understand any other perspective?

"Dont ask me again"??

Is he serious?

Or else what????

i don't think that's wanting to see the community split. but if you recognize that you'll likely be playing with the majority of the community on ps4 you probably won't care about it as much as someone planning to buy it on pc. you'll commiserate with but probably not fight for.

Bullshit. Developers do actually want their games to be as good as possible, but a non-infinite amount of resources combined with multiple platform policies means that everything isn't a possibility.

Do you not know Harada or something?

Absolutely valid point, though fighting probably was a poor term to use in the first place as no amount of effort from any fan's part will make any difference. I just thought it a shame as somebody who enjoys having large, diverse communities for any competitive games I enjoy.

All these Cyber Security majors in here know what's up. I didn't know that they majority of people on NeoGAF were one. That's awesome.

Anyways, the difference between the PS4 version of SFV and PC is very minor. As you can see here from a Titan XP screenshot compared to a PS4 screen shot. The PC version is downsampled from 4K.

The only thing that is fixed is the dithering and the picture quality is better, but not by much.
THERE ARE some post processing effects that the PC has that the PS4 doesn't and it looks pretty damn good in motion, but it's not good for screenshots.

Now Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is a different case. The IQ enhances the games graphical fidelity by a huge amount.

It's probably not worth the resources to establish crossplay on both console versions. I imagine if this was a PS4 or XB1 console exclusive there would be crossplay with PC.

Bullshit? Really?

1. Bandai Namco determines how many resources the devs get.
2. Read the post I was replying to, it was about PS4/PC cross-play, not PS4/Xbox/PC cross-play.

What kind of cheats? Macros? I've never seen any 'cheaters' in SFV.
So you never played against PC players lol

The first thing they do is alt+tab before match... so you become lagged while they plays fine.

PC player in my online play = turn off PC cross-play option please. That is the easy... there a lot of more cheaters and hackers in SFV.

Cross-play is something I always supported... until see how it works against PC players. Today I prefer my console bubble.

Wait is this shit for real?

Motherfuck. I'm so going to set mine to PS4 players only. Assholes. Funny thing is, I still beat a few of those cheating PC pricks. I was wondering why they were teleporting all over the place while the connection strength of the match was full bars.

actually no one knows MS just said they agreed to it on a PR note but nobody knows if there are one sided clauses on microsoft side beside considering tha sony is already doing crossplay with even the wii U android and iphone with a game like eitr if I remember correctly.

I wouldn't be surpirsed if Ms is a bit shady in this case.

Doesn't change my post though.

I simply said Sony is currently the only one against it. I never said Microsoft had an open door policy about it.

They aren't going to do cross play for one and not the other. Either way, it's either your conspiracy theories, or Harada's playing it straight and can't implement cross play. Who's more believable?
I don't have to say who in here, you already know

Yes but you are wrong. Sony isn't against it. There's multiple games that prove that. It is Microsoft that is against it and it seems like there's multiple games that could have been on xbox one but they are not allowing it.

Not even PC vs PS4? PC online community gonna be dead as fuck.

Pretty much. I've given up on considering buying it, PC fighters don't have longevity and crossplay is necessary.

It's actually a weight off my shoulders as I can focus on other games.

I just can't see them putting much effort into making the PC port look better. Fighting games never do.
maybe they don't have to. the arcade version is based on PC architecture so it shouldn't take much effort on their part for the PC version to look the best
Sony feels the PC is PS4’s main competition in the marketplace not Xbox One

Sony boss: PS4 Pro is going after the PC audience

Ever since the launch of PS4 Pro, Sony has taken a U-Turn on their PC friendly policies that resulted in games like Rocket League and Street Fighter V getting PC cross-play support.
huh, I really don't think launching the Ps4 pro has changed the general appeal of consoles...competition between PC and Ps4 pro or not remains the same, PC gamers will be PC gamers. the PC platform is a beast in its own, separate from any console platform because it requires much more knowledge about hardware specifications for the consumer.

so, no way is sony right in thinking that PC is the direct competition and not xbone, and smh if this means there will be decline in crossplay shit like rocket league and sf5.
I think the expectation is the PS4 Pro and PC version will simply be arcade-perfect versions of the game.
as they should be, if not surpass the arcade version

You gentlemen do know that alt+tabbing from a game is something everyone and their mother does on PC. It's called multi-tasking. I'm pretty sure the majority of the people who alt tab are just browsing online. They aren't pricks. The game is just busted.

Then I guess the majority of PS4 players with full bars must be lag switching because you guys are teleporting all over the place when I play against you. Same thing happens when I play on my buddy's PS4. The online play just sucks for this game. I live in SoCal too so it shouldn't be that much of an issue to get players with great connections.

Fuck off with the passive aggressive bullshit already.

No, I don't buy Harada's explanation. Why? Because his explanation is nothing but vague details and deflections. And no, this isn't some indictment of him, I just don't think it's a high enough priority for Bandai Namco or him to find a solution that may work.

Yes but you are wrong. Sony isn't against it. There's multiple games that prove that. It is Microsoft that is against it and it seems like there's multiple games that could have been on xbox one but they are not allowing it.

Wait. Sony isn't against PS/Xbox cross play and Microsoft is?

Um. No.

Purchase went from day1 to whenever it gets cheap..

Edit....
On PC, i know this game will be a graveyard in 6 months..

$10 at the most for this game..

You guys are lucky Harada doesn't block people. He is always nice enough to answer questions most of the time if it's something he can reveal or talk about.

People already were able to try out the pc version like Airis (big Tekken player and commentator) stated that the pc version they've played last year was overall a great running game without any slowdowns (like the arcade version on some occasions), faster loading times and the visuals looked better than ever before (higher resolution, higher details, better aa).
And that was build from mid 2016 or so and Project Tekken team seems to be working hard to heavily optimise the game for the home launch (there are already many new improvements like faster loading speeds, instant rematch and they come closer to the arcade version visuals on PS4).

I don't think there will be a highly noticeable problem with players on pc.
A 1 vs 1 fighting game does not need 15 thousands of players playing at the same time.

My concern is that there is a huge missed opportunity to be the first xplay fighting game on all systems and a must have game for anyone to play against friends and opponents on all platforms.

I like to play against some people from my fighting game discord channel and met a lot of great people thanks to SF V.

Tekken 7 will make it harder for meet ups like that.

Only time will tell if there are enough players on pc for all circumstances.

Places like America and Europe probably won't really have issues but far out regions will have some trouble if there aren't enough players nearby.

microsoft looooooves to talk. do tell me why they didn't get final fantasy 14?

Because Microsoft wanted Xbox users to have their own separate server.

Microsoft's new (as in last year) crossplay policies require an opt-out option, which ends up causing the same problem that blocked FF14 in the first place. Square Enix isn't going to run a separate set of servers just for Xbox.

Yes but you are wrong. Sony isn't against it. There's multiple games that prove that. It is Microsoft that is against it and it seems like there's multiple games that could have been on xbox one but they are not allowing it.

And Psyonix has told us that everything is in place on their end to support total crossplay and Sony are the one's blocking it.

I'm getting both the PS4 and PC versions.

PS4 = main version, online, the works
PC = graphics, mods and extras

Wait. Sony isn't against PS/Xbox cross play and Microsoft is?

Um. No.

You can't say blanketly that Sony is "against" it full stop for all we know cross play may be a W10 only feature which would defeat the purpose altogether, iirc there was a game on W10 and Steam that didn't let them play with each other and the number of people who played online with the W10 version was not only segregated but in the double digits.
