Harada (Tekken Dev): Wii U's CPU clock "kinda low" when compared to 360/PS3

Porting CPU code to a different architecture without taking advantages of said architecture = Problems!? You don't say! It's almost as if some developers/GAF users don't bother to remember the fact that the GPU is supposed to take some of the work the CPU does, and then wonder why there are problems. It's not like the whole architecture will be able to handle next gen games better than current gen games or anything...

Wth are you talking about?

I don't really mind, honestly. Just like every Nintendo platform since the N64, the only games I will be interested in purchasing for the Wii U are the ones that come out only on the Wii U.

Here was the whole question and answer:

Staying with graphics but going back to the idea of getting third parties involved, have you approached Epic with the specs of the Wii U to try to make sure that third-parties using Unreal Engine 4 can easily port their games to Wii U?

I think that the Wii U will be powerful enough to run very high spec games but the architecture is obviously different than other consoles so there is a need to do some tuning if you really want to max out the performance.

We’re not going to deliver a system that has so much horsepower that no matter what you put on there it will run beautifully, and also, because we’re selling the system with the GamePad – which adds extra cost to the package – we don’t want to inflate the cost of each unit by putting in excessive CPU power.

Good luck trying to port next gen games to WiiU then.
Nothing he said explicitly says that what he's trying to do can't be done. He's probably just explaining that the WiiU version will be slightly delayed to work out creative ways to use less processing power to achieve similar effects.

The next gen ports might look almost as good, although they might also have to skimp somewhat more on number of characters on-screen, AI, and physics.

I think he was referring to the Iwata statement:

Satoru Iwata: "We're not going to deliver a system that has so much horsepower that no matter what you put on there it will run beautifully," he continued, "and also, because we're selling the system with the GamePad—which adds extra cost to the package—we don't want to inflate the cost of each unit by putting in excessive CPU power."
