:lol Yes. This is business, so we should just be good little sheep and continue along our merry way.AstroLad said:Hey idiots, this is business, thereby rendering all criticism and discussion moot.

Hypocritical fuckwits.
More like Activision stops compatibility when it can. In this case, Sony had no previous guitar to test, so they can block this patch.Souther said:So let me get this straight.
Guitar Hero 3 owners that own the 360 version can use that guitar to play Rockband for the 360.
But Guitar Hero 3 owners that have the PS3 version are now more or less fucked if they want to use that guitar with PS3 Rockband because Activison is being a bunch of fucking pricks...
So Activison hates Sony now all of a sudden?

I don't know if this is true, but it sounds scary enough to be.

exactly.Shins said:Business is business. EA/Harmonix certainly shouldn't have banked on the competition to provide the necessary accessory to make standalone copies of Rock Band playable.

I've gotta agree with Activision though, business is business. Why help the competitor?
Before anyone says it makes Activision money, the GH3 guitars aren't on sale separately until January anyway so they don't profit from it, unless people where willing to spend $100 for a bass guitar.
Will do then.M3wThr33 said:I'd hold off on bitching. I think this is all Activision this time, NOT Red Octane, who in emails said to contact Activision.
Alphahawk said:Doesn't Activision relise that this allowing this patch to go through would actually make them money?
sangreal said:I doubt it, since the patch to disable it would have to come from Harmonix/EA, and in this case they aren't the ones who yielded to Activision, Sony is. They still wrote/submitted the patch to make it compatible despite Activision's objections
It's a bigger advantage to rock band to be compatible with guitars people already have than it is to activision to sell more of them. They don't want rock band to succeed, or at least not to be making guitars that contribute to its success.Neo Child said:This doesn't make sense.
Surely allowing old guitars to work with new ones would block out people BUYING ROCK BAND GUITARS, not GH3 guitars, as they don't need to purchase new ones. Thus the ball being in Activisions court, odd...
Activision will prevent the rock band from working with the older guitars whenever they can. They were probably unable to do so with the 360 version, but sony is bowing to them because they need all the 3rd party support they can get.Souther said:So let me get this straight.

They're the only ones that will research this out to know what's happened here. Average consumer will plug in a GH guitar to play Rock Band, see it doesn't work, and say oh well, better buy a RB guitar.

BenjaminBirdie said:The problem is that it once worked. And XBL always asks if you want to download a particular patch. People would just never download it.
BenjaminBirdie said:I still don't see how any of the blame lies on Sony's doorstep. They were only unlucky enough to not have the code already in Harmonix's hands thanks to their work on GHII.
that's why some of the blame lies with Sony. Sony have the patch that makes it work, and are sitting on it because Activision are asking them too."The patch remains with Sony, but we have been told that it will unfortunately not be released due to Activision's continued objection."
Linkzg said:It kind of sucks, and while it makes senese in business terms it is still a dick move on their part. It really wont affect them at all seeing as how GH is a main stream series and what we say means jackshit. Harmonix and Rock Band so far has been good to the fans, first with an actual practical solution for DLC songs and quick support for guitar problems, and when they were trying to help out PS3 owners they got shot down.
EA and Harmonix should really just try to rush out the solo guitars in stores now, even quicker than the 360 versions if they can.
I was commenting on his straight forward perception of this situation. He claims that since this is business, it is a moot issue and we should all move along like nothing is happening. Basically he thinks we should all be sheep and accept this issue. I, and others, say fuck that. I would hardly call it a bandwagon. I would call it a group of individuals that have an issue with a publisher's descision.Shins said:Hopping on the Fuck Activision bandwagon makes you an individual.

Be pissed, but don't be surprised that a company might fight to hold onto it's market share.Madman said:Basically he thinks we should all be sheep and accept this issue.
They can't piss off Activision. C'mon, you have more sense then that. Their series are far too important to even risk having an issue with.plagiarize said:that's why some of the blame lies with Sony.
