Harmonix: AMPLITUDE Delayed to 2016 (EA in DEC)

The juxtaposition of tone between this thread and the Mighty no 9 thread is jarring.

Hopefully these delays lead to better products. This is a game I am excited to play with my wife, but we are both working on backlogs deep enough that a delay is fine with us, and we will be happier with a more polished and content heavy game.

Almost twice the songs, more gameplay modes, a new way to play the game (can maybe use Rock Band guitars?) and leaderboards? Annoying delay, but it's for a good reason.

The bolded is what I'm not getting. They say there's been 16 songs planned originally, and they noted that the core campaign will still be 16 HMX songs.

During the campaign, 5 backers pledged to put their own songs in the game and Harmonix announced 7 external artists would be contributing to the game.

So then 16 + 12 = 28 total is the number we've known for over a year, since the end of the campaign. So by my math, we're actually looking at a 2-song difference in this delay, not anywhere near a doubling of the soundtrack.

They also announced leaderboards during the original campaign, it's not a part of the added scope - or at least, it shouldn't be.

I'm disappointed as I wanted this to tide me over until Rock Band 4, not the other way around, but I can't complain too much if they're expanding the game. I can wait until December.

It screams of "Rock Band 4 is the focus" but I love the Rock Band series, so I'm sure I'll find a way to cope.

Apologise for the delay by announcing more RB4 songs.

Jarring implies that there is no appreciable difference in the situations. Why do you think that?

It's for a good reason. I'm worried about the PS3 version, though. I don't like that it's 'after' the PS4 version. I don't have a PS4, so don't play games.

I can't remember, how many songs did Amplitude originally have?

The original? Around 30.

For some reason I thought the version we were getting to begin with had the same amount of songs as the original did. I'm glad they delayed it then, I would have been deeply disappointed to find out it had 16 songs.

I agree, but I hope they use the time to get some EDM licenses. The industry is filled with talented artists, there's no need to have it all done in-house.

I dont think ive seen many, if any, major kickstarters not run into issues/delays for whatever reason.

I just dont get why people get so frustrated if things are generally communicated well and progress is being shown

It's disappointing that every single delay or issue with one kickstarter gets overblown as a representation of the entire platform too.

If there had been any kind of survey, I would have gladly, gladly chosen to double the size of the game before adding online multiplayer.

Same here! I don't have much interest in multiplayer Amplitude but I love the core gameplay and I'm excited that there's going to be more songs in the base game. Hopefully enough people end up buying it post release that they continue to add DLC.

I'm sure this team is tiny compared to the team on Rock Band 4 too - and given Harmonix's recent history of down sizing I'm just pleased that we're still getting Amplitude at all. I loved Rock Band but I have no space for plastic instruments anymore and I'm more excited for Amplitude than the return of RB.

They had a survey that said a majority of the users had PS4s and wanted that to be the lead platform. Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the delay for the PS3 version. Unless it's longer than month.

"There is a new, still-to-be-announced way to play the game that will change the way you think about Amplitude’s 6-lane track. More on that at a later date!"

I hope this is referring to Morpheus support. The original Amplitude did have an optional 1st person blaster perspective.
