It's a good "chill" movie though, in that it's more of a relaxed story and you get to see a lot of the beauty of the environments. Since the story is very much withheld until the third act it doesn't try to hurry along-- this is a quality that I also adored in Deathly Hallows Part 1.

I feel like I wouldn't be as attached to the characters as I am now, having read the books a few times over. The movies just dont do it for me. It's great entertainment and is a nice visual piece to go with what I imagined, but emotionally I don't think its there for me.

you do not know how much money I would pay to have a set done like this, in Blu-ray.

Pand said:Just saw it, and it's good. I almost always dislike the HP movies the first time I see them because there's too much book comparison going on in my head, but this one's very satisfying overall. Lots of action, good pace, some well done emotional scenes, the works.
Some nitpicking:
I don't understand why these directors don't really get symbolism. We've seen many instances in past films where certain set pieces or character traits were changed to supposedly better suit the film adaptation. In this one, the final fight between Voldemort and Harry is changed to take place outside the castle, with just the two of them, and it serves no purpose at all. It's so much more fitting to let it end inside the Great Hall, with everyone there to see it. Now the scene just kind of drizzles out, and we don't get the satisfaction of it all ending in the (metaphorical) centre of Hogwarts. Also, it's a shame the Dumbledore arc was abandoned completely. The doubt about his motives was one of the highlights of book 7 for me.

I completely disagree. This was the best 3D I've ever seen in a film, except perhaps Avatar. The objects in the foreground really seemed to "pop" and be more crisp than normal; I thought it added to the experience.jarosh said:it was alright. 3d sucked donkey balls, as expected. almost ruined the whole experience. holy shit was the picture dark. what a shame. also, i've seen tron legacy in 3d on the same screen and there wasn't any crosstalk. but for some reason there was TONS in this movie. very distracting.
I'll just return to it one more time as I went to sleep after my last post. Why the hell would being an animagus be considered "Dark Arts, /.../ very worst of our kind, /.../ dangerous, magical transformations"? Tons of positive characters were animagi and it didn't change them one bit. The line was definitely about splitting souls.3rdman said:These are the exact lines from the book...
...yes he could mean horcruxes...after all (at this point) Dumbledore doesn't realize how many times he split his soul but I think it's also fair to think that maybe he was experimenting with physical transformations and fucked himself up.

And yeah, that was right, he made his first horcrux while still in Hogwarts (that's why CoS Riddle was a teenager). Wouldn'tbe considered a spoiler? One way or another, he already had split his soul at least twice by the time he came to apply for the job, and it was seemingly noticeable. All in all, he consequently did split itdiadem being in Room of Requirementso his appearance can easily be explained by horcruxes.7 times
Gambit said:His appearance being due to the horcruxes is confirmed in the film.his skin looks more human after each destruction
Ushojax said:That doesn't make much sense. The parts of his souls are being destroyed, he isn't getting them back. At the final duel Voldemort should have just as much of a soul on his body as he did at the start of the movie.
Dr Eggman said:I watched it last night and it's definitely my movie of the year. My girlfriend had one gripe though, who else was bothered by it? Does anyone know why they followed such a concise approach?in the end where Voldemort and Harry face off, why did they end that scene so abruptly? In the book they circle each other for a good few pages and everyone comes out and watches them and makes the scene much more dramatic and suspenseful
Which one? And why not his daughter?THE-Pink-Dagger said:I'd totally pay to see movies with Harry's son, and his adventures.

Not all countries are getting 2D versionsPachterballs said:I posted earlier that I don't think the 3D works for this film - its post processed to be 3D and it looks vey unatural this depth. Like a diorama all the way through. I think it might have lessened my enjoyment of the film. Especially during the slower scenes; itd really stuck out like a sore thumb and then its very fast motion; its very videogamey.
I'd strongly suggest watching this in 2D. Especially when that was how we'd watched all the harry potters - and then if you want to see the gimmicky 3D version - then go watch it.
CassSept said:Not all countries are getting 2D versionsIt's sadly the same story as with Thor. A damn shame, but I have no choice this time.
