Well, looks like that line might be right after all.

But this raises the question: why are they still spending millions on security if it's already leaked?

Actually, thinking about it, it would be stupid easy for someone to fake this. I'm not believing it yet.

you know if they were smart they'd purposely spread a bunch of fake rumors so that even if the real one is leaked no one will know which one to believe.

My belief/theory:
Voldemort is Harry's biological father
and I'm not kidding.

I go with that after watching Order of phoenix a couple days a go... It kind of makes sense...

I am using this thread to further my own cause.

I DON'T THINK VOLDERMORT IS A BIG PROBLEM.

Case: We know there are other, international wizarding schools. And yet none of those schools seemed concerned about the Voldermort issue. They've sent no help and they never bring it up.

Hence: I believe Voldermort is really not that big of a deal. He's a nusiance to the English wizarding circles, but other than that he's just kind of a thug.

Therefore: These books are a little more goofy.

That's what I think, too..

I actually read only the first four books, and it's been quite a while since I read them, but it always was a suspicion of mine, based on the way they were talked about.

My case is kind a mess of things littered throughout the books. One point I see as a nice jumping off point into the theory is the importance of
Harry having his mother's eyes
and the fact that Rowling has noted how important this is. It makes too much sense after re-reading the novels and noticing the importance of
paternal/family
relations. We'll see :)

I've heard of this theory but I don't really think there's too much merit to it. It's always commented that
Harry looks like James except for his eyes
.

Does White Man like Harry Potter?!

I was into it up until book 5, at which point I mostly lost interest. I didn't read book 6 until earlier this year, and I'm not quite sure if I'm going to read the last one yet. Depends how interesting the spoilers are.

Armitage said:
I can barely remember what happened in book 6. The books peaked at Goblet of Fire and dropped off fast, in my opinion.

I think the books peaked at Goblet of Fire then crashed with Order of the Phoenix. Half Blood Prince was much better than Order of the Phoenix.

I just hope this book isn't structured like a zelda game where he has to go to a different area to find each horcrux.

The book spoilers have to be fake, cause if you look closely, the last page was 757, when the actual book is 784 pages long.

Should I now assume this thread to be completely about the discussion of spoilers now, because if so I don't want to read any of it! (I haven't read the last 20+ posts yet)

I am seeing two very contradictory sets of spoilers out there. WHICH ONE IS REAL

I really, really hope the YTMND I posted is fake, but if it was, it's a really, really good fake. Really good.

The first 496 pages have been leaked onto 4chan.

They look very very very legit. If it's a fake, this is truly a testament to how far people will go for a hoax. I just want to warn anyone who desperately does not want this spoiled for them. If it is real, it's only a matter of a few minutes before the flood of real spoilers start being posted all over the place.

Be careful!

There are at least 2 complete fake books out there. I wouldn't believe the 4chan stuff unless it is very obviously real.

Well, being the giant harry potter nerd that I am, I've ended up with both of the fake ones, and read more of them than I should have. This new one coincides with that "leaked first chapter" on www.mugglenet.com, and the shear intensity of what a hoax would have required for it to be this realistic gives me reason to believe it's definitely legit.

Edit- Also, it's not a .txt, a .doc, or a .pdf. It's 256 photos of the book. You can see the binding (which is yellow on the spine and green on the edges) as well as chapter art for each chapter (which all look new and are perfectly in the same style as the chick who does all the US artwork). This would have been such an undertaking to fake.

The first chapter is also ****ing awesome, which alone is the best evidence that it's real.

Well I just took a stroll through 4chan to see if there were any developments on the leaked images. They have already found some big spoilers and are posting tons of them. This stuff looks like it's real folks.

Seriously, if you don't want it spoiled, be extremely wary of the internet from this point forward, because it has been leaked.

That's just a paragraph. That could have easily been worked into something already existent, especially since it's been confirmed that chapter 1 does not involve Harry. The *fake* spoilers from earlier today apparently got some unreleased chapter titles correct.

It really says something to the power of these books that people would actually write entire fake books just for a few days of fun.

They are probably nothing more than the largest bits of fanfiction written after the release of the previous book. I really doubt anyone would write entire fake books for the sake of screwing with spoiler victims.

Well, at the very least, they had it printed and bound, and took photos of it.

There is some big document on 4chan I just snagged - reads like shit, gotta be fanfic.

First chapter is called
'Secrets Unraveled'
pffffftt

The first chapter in the copy I have is
The Dark Lord Awakening

I just snagged that one and I'm almost certain its real. The writing style, the quality, its all convincing.

In the interests of SCIENCE, I have excerpted some boring sentences at random, encased them in quotes and run them through Google. The idea is that if it is just a fanfic, it would be picked up online.

I'm going to try and pick dull and boring lines that reveal nothing and have nothing to do with the plot, but they'll be spoilered anyways. Keep in mind that I am totally ignorant of the context of these quotes. Who knows, maybe the cookware plays some key role later on.

Line 1:
Copper pots and pans had been burnished to a rosy glow. (page 225)

Result: No matches on Google.

Line 2:
Harry let her talk, nodding and agreeing whenever there was a pause, but his mind had left the conversation. (page 321)

Result: No matches on Google.

Line 3:
"She's great, isn't she?" said Ron admiringly. (page 147)

Result: No matches on Google.

Line 4:
"What's Nurmengard?" (page 360)

Result: No matches on Google.

Incidentally,
nurmengard
.com is available. Squatters a go go! Also, a google search for that word brings NO results.

Line 5:
"Muggles remain ignorant of the source of their suffering as they continue to sustain heavy casualties." (page 440)

Result: No matches on Google.

---

I think this is the real deal.

It sure seems legit, but I wouldn't put it past someone to fake it. Really though, would someone put the amount of effort in to make a fake copyright page look this legit:

(spoilers for COPYRIGHT fans)

Actually, the more I read, the less I'm convinced. Either Rowling dropped off a bit, or I'm getting more critical.

Oh, I haven't actually read any of it. :lol I guess I'm more technically minded when it comes to stuff like this.

I have nothing to base it on (haven't read a book since OotP), but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it's her; she's just probably tired or whatever.

The hell do I know.

The thing is, I've always read legit copies knowingly, so I've never had to debunk the writing style. So far, I've finished the first chapter, and its sort of tough to tell. There is some poor editing/writing, an obvious typo (although maybe its the scan quality), and there are numerous instances where it feels like a fanfic. This is all in the first chapter.

Conversely, here are definite similarities of humor and the consistency of the mythos is there. Maybe going back and reading more
Voldemort dialogue
would help, because thus far, that seems very different.

Honestly though, I hope this isn't legit. It was pretty corny even though
someone dies
:/
