Has a controllers vibration ever piss you off?

I like it for the most part but in inFamous 2 I had to turn it off. It made traversal really annoying since the controller was vibrating all the time you were riding a cable.

I accidentally turned off rumble in halo once and it completely threw off my game. I never realized how much I depended on that feedback until that happened.

Not really turned off by rumble but I definitely am disappointed in nintendo's effort doing rumble in their controllers, for the past 10 years or so. The gamecube controller was the last nintendo controller with decent-good rumble. PS2 dualshock rumble was very strong, which I liked. Bought a ps3 before rumble was standard (sixaxis controller) so cant comment on that, and played 360 now and then at friends, rumble was ok I guess, cant remember that much. Have yet to play on the PS4 and Xone. But yeah, I love rumble when its well-implemented.

Am I in the wrong thread? Is this a rumble hate thread?

The Wii U GamePad "rumble" is dreadful. It's extremely loud and annoying. It's the only thing I don't like about the controller.

Yep, it is super distracting from every single game I've played..

I still like rumble even now that I only play on PC. The only times it bugs/scares me is when I set the controller on my desk and something causes it to rumble

I had to turn rumble off on most of my controllers because I keep forgetting it on a table or something and it keeps waking up the baby lol.

I always turn it off on everything

Thankfully there has yet to be a controller where the option to disable it wasn't present

Saves battery life

The main reason why I prefer controller over keyboard. The vibrations make you feel like you're there. That, coupled with 3d, makes the game much much more immersive than it otherwise would have been.

On occasion, some horror games have used it as a sort of "heartbeat" to feedback tension/health to the player and that over an extended period of time/low health can get pretty annoying.

The first thing I do when I get a new system or controller is turn the vibration off. It's the most dumb thing ever, and adds nothing but annoyance to my gaming experience.

I'm forced to turn it off when using my DS3 on PC becouse when it vibrates the controller turns off and on again and also turns my PS3 on.

I've always turned it off for the last couple years, and I've been feeling better that way.

The Xbox One controller is really annoying when plugged to a pc, because it vibrates whenever you turn it on. Needless to say it's pretty annoying on a desk.

Am I missing the indication that this is in fact a parody thread or does rumble really bother some people that much?

I personally hate it.

I still don't get why the powers that be seems to always make vibration on a default. It should always be turned off, with the option of on. It's a gimmick. A stupid gimmick.

I honestly don't know if I like rumble or not.

I'm trying to but I can't really think of any time where I've actively liked or disliked a rumble.

It's just always kinda of there?

I do appreciate the weight it adds to controllers though, after having used the $2 mcdonalds toy feeling sixaxis.

I like it when used appropriately for feedback during gameplay, but I don't need my controller to rumble for 20 minutes during a cutscene.

I turn it off. It saves battery life and does nothing for me to increase immersion. On the other hand something like a Buttkicker Gamer 2 would be of interest to me for my flight sim setup. I just think the context of couch gaming with a controller isn't the best fit for simulated vibrations to match the game as the setup doesn't allow a convincing effect.

I love the vibration it tells people that go afk in a spawn area that they have annoyed me and I shake the hell out of them pushing them into a corner.

I don't even notice rumble majority of the time. One time I was playing Tekken 6 without it and felt something was off, noticed that vibration was turned off and turned it back on.

I used to always have vibration on when a game doesn't use it excessively, however, lately I've turned off vibration for all games I play now. I just find it more comfortable for me now.

It's never been that serious for me, if the controller rumbles, it rumbles. I think my most annoying vibration experience is using the Wii U Gamepad since the vibration sound is louder than the actual rumble feeling.

The "rumble" in the Wii U pad being so utterly terrible is so bizarre. This is the company that is the reason rumble is a mainstream feature in console games, they perfected it before anyone even saw it coming. How could anyone possibly have come to the conclusion that what's in the Wii U pad was even just good enough? It's like it's missing an entire motor or something.

Once a controller vibrated so hard it jumped right out of my hand. It was really loud on the floor too. Scared me quite a bit.

I really don't like if a game DOESN'T use vibrations like I would expected it e.g. a racing game should have not only vibrations for crashing, it should have vibrations on when you start you motor and prepare to start or on offroad texture and if you're driving on the white/red road lines.
Not everyone likes that and that's why I would like to see different vibration settings like "Intense" or "minimal".

I like rumble, it adds a good element of intensity to games. The only time I turned it off was in Infamous, where the controller would vibrate endlessly when grinding on rails.

When I started playing through the Battlefield 3 campaign on PC, I happened to leave my DS3 plugged in.
Turns out the DS3 will still vibrate even if you use mouse and keyboard. It was really cool to feel force feedback through the keyboard when taking off in jets and firing guns and stuff.

A nice bonus in using a DS3 on PC is that I can adjust the vibration intensity globally, from 0% to 150%. I just leave it at 100%, though.

The only time it ever bothered me was waaaay back in Bong-Bongo flight in Ocarina Of Time. For some reason the vibrations from the rumble pack was seriously throwing off my timing in that fight. I had to take it out to win.

Sometimes during opening or closing cutscenes I like to put the controller down and watch, it pisses me off when it makes noises during those scenes.

The first game I played with rumble was Goldeneye, and it was incredible at the time. I thought I didn't really care for it, but when the PS3 launched without it I realised how much I missed it.

Word. Playing Star Fox 64 on VC without rumble feels so soulless.

StarFox was my 2nd, considering the release dates I'd say Star Fox and Goldeneye were 1&2 on most people's list. Couldn't have been 2 better games to show off an amazing new feature for the controller.

I have it turned off these days. Couple of years back I had a flareup of carpal tunnel for a while which made me turn it off. Once that cleared up and I turned it back on I just found it annoying. Turning it off gives you some extra battery life too.
