Has a pet ever destroyed your game/hardware?

Not my stuff, but my sister's cat chewed through the cord for her Wii sensor bar.
This same cat also chewed through the cables of a really nice set of earphones I had. He seriously had a thing for wires.

I think a lot of cats do.

My cat chewed through my 3ds charger. Chewed through my crappy earbud from my ps4. Currently chews on speaker wire all throughout the room. I can't stop him.

My roommates cat chewed through two of my Saturn controller wires and a Neo Geo CD pad and was working on my Neo Geo sticks.. Fortunately, it didn't do any permanent damage to the sticks. My roommate was cool about it and gave me the money to replace the Saturn and Neo Geo CD pads.

One of my dogs chewed up my copy of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, I was fucking pissed.

Cat chewed through my Wii power cable back in 2004. That was fun replacing it.

Wow, your cat chewed on something before it was even released!

Sounds like you guys need to be more responsible for your pets. I made that mistake of leaving my copy of Pokemon out on my table and the little dog jumped in the chair and jumped on the table. He had previously chewed up like 3 SD cards too <_<

#TeamWiiSensorBar

My cats have chewed through THREE Wii Sensor bar cables. I've finally been able to move the entire set up to a different location where they can't access it.

My cats have also chewed through so many headphone cables that I now have to get insurance for every pair I buy.

Had this cat for almost 5 years now and just a couple months ago she bit through 4 mics (2 XB1, 1 360, and 1 friend's xb1 mic) and a wii motion bar within 2 weeks. She's never done it before.

I have had a couple of "rage" gaming sessions that have scared my dog from going anywhere near my gaming stuff. Hell, whenever I start up a game she quietly leaves the room hahaha.

Well, I once lent 2 games to a friend and when I went to his place to get them back (after insisting for a while to have them back) I found out his dog had completely destroyed the cases, disks and manuals... I'm very careful when it comes to lending stuff now, I should've known better but I always thought it was better to take twice as good care of stuff that isn't yours.

My dog got a hold of a game rental and chewed it up. Fortunately the video store's replacement price wasn't outrageous and it was a cartridge, so despite the cosmetic damage, the game still worked.

My dog think it`s really funny to turn on my Xbox 360 and Xbox One with his nose. Haven`t destroyed anything yet.

I was at my friend's house when I was younger and we were playing with his Sega Genesis (some Jurassic Park game, I believe). The Genesis was on his TV stand, and we were sitting on the floor in front of the TV with the controllers stretched out. Suddenly, out of nowhere, his dog comes charging through the room at full tilt, hits the controller cables, and takes the entire fucking system along with him. You'd think the controllers would disconnect first, but nope, that Genesis was fucking gone.

The system still worked after that, thankfully.

One of my cats managed to damage the following:
  • Wii sensorbar wire (not a big problem, already had a wireless sensorbar as a replacement)
  • Wii U Gamepad charging cable
  • Headphones cable (twice)
After the headphones incidident, I got fed up with replacing headphones every now and then, so I bought a pair of headphones that uses 3.5mm on both ends. If this cable gets bitten or breaks otherwise, I can just replace it with a new 3.5mm cable.

Back in 1993 my cat decided to use my friends copy of Pilotwings as a toilet, and the box was pretty much destroyed after scraping it off.

My mate was borrowing my copy of Streetfighter 2 and when we exchanged back my Streetfighter 2 cartridge label was ripped, which I know he did on purpose.

Ah well, it could have been worse.

I dont think my cat has actually destroyed anything. He's chewed up the plug pretty good but it's only got teeth marks and still works. I keep spray bottle around in multiple rooms.

Now I'm more worried about my toddler destroying stuff (especially as he gets older and can reach even more stuff) He's destroyed the baby monitor already, so any game stuff can be next. He's also turned off power to my husband's comp many times. Pets (and toddlers) and gaming stuff don't mix. :)

I once had a dog that chewed up the cords of one of my GameCube controllers and one of my PS2 controllers. Plus he managed to knock my fat PS2 off of my TV, so now I have a slim one.

I had two rats when I was a kid and one fateful night, they got out of their cage somehow, destroyed my N64 controller's cable and went back inside. We didn't really know how they got outside, the cage was probably not properly attached to the cage floor and they managed to squeeze through, but there really was no sign of a break out apart from the bite marks on the cable.

Well, the rats are long dead, and during their lifetime they never learned to speak my language, so I'll never find out.

I've only ever had one pet that did the who "chewing on everything in the house" thing and the only gaming thing he destroyed was my Sega CD. I remember coming home from school all excited to play Lunar and there were dozens of pieces of chewed up plastic around my room and the disc was gnawed on as well. I was crushed, Looking back at how I took care of my games and consoles I can't believe the shit I did. I would just leave my consoles hooked up and on the floor in the middle of my bedroom.

Not pets but Ants. On two separate occasions they set their sights on my ps2. First time they were eating it, second time they were moving their entire colony into it, little white eggs and all.

Kitten chewed through the cable of the Wii's sensor bar once.

What surprised me most was how hard it was to find a replacement.
Ended up having to order one from Nintendo directly because local stores simply don't sell them.

Kitten + headphone and router cords = lots of shopping for new headphones and router cords

Cant remember my dogs chewing any gamer stuff. Baseball hats and shoes? That's a different story. lol

My cat ate my headset cord before for my 360 and one time I was vacuuming came back into my computer room, my gaming mouse was wrapped around his neck and the middle of the chair strangling him. I instantly grabbed a knife to cut the cord :( never owned a nice mouse ever since lol

After reading all of these, I feel extremely fortunate no animal have ever relieved itself on any of my belongings ^_^;

Although the new kitten will do anything to get in the way of my gaming -- my older kitten and I bonded over Dynasty Warriors, so I think he respects gaming. We rescued him from a rat trap, so he was really sick when we first got him. He'd curl up in my lap and watch me play.

Never had anything ruined as far as gaming goes but I have gone through a couple power cables for my iPhone from my cats chewing on them.

Nothing has been destroyed, but everything is full of cat hair for sure :p

I'm thankful I have proper filters in my pc case, blocking most of the hair and dust. I don't want to imagine how my pc's insides would look without them. Also my mechanical keyboard is easy to clean, in a few months it collects a cat's worth of shed hair.

Also my cat knocked an opened can of beer on my previous pc case. Never could really clean it off proper, so it was always a bit stained.

Dog(s) kept eating the damn rubber from the main thumb stick on my GCN controllers.. The wired controllers sucked, but it became personal when they went for the Wavebirds... only have one Wavebird left with the rubber on the stick untouched.........

One of my cats chewed the cords of my Wii sensor bar, my 3DS charger and 3 cellphones earsets.

Bought some anti-chew spray and problem solved!

I think a lot of cats do.

My cat chewed through my 3ds charger. Chewed through my crappy earbud from my ps4. Currently chews on speaker wire all throughout the room. I can't stop him.

Keep a hairdryer next to the speaker. Soon as he gets close, turn it on(not on him/her the sound is enough). Took a couple of times but now my cat never goes behind the TV for those cables.

...or rub some of those wires with lemon juice.

My family's dog bit my outer case for Witcher 2 on 360 and nibbled a bit on the poster tube holding some club Nintendo posters bending the contents inside.

This is why I prefer cats. My cats have never messed with cords or chewing on anything.

I remember when me and my now wife moved into our first place together, we had 2 cats at the time (Now 4) and one of them had this short period where she would wee places she shouldnÂ’t (Stress from moving I believe but she got over it). She also liked to go on top of shelves/cupboards etc.

Since we didnÂ’t have a decent TV at the time I had my old 5.1 set up boxed away on top of our bedroom cupboard, when one day the cat decided to climb up there. For a second we thought it was very sweet until I remembered what she had been doing recently and quickly went to grab her down but alas it was too late. Once I had got her away, one of my speakers was filled with liquid and made a rattling sound so I had to chuck the whole system away.

Oh a have also found a pair of earphones chewed before, donÂ’t know which one did it but I have a good idea it was the other girl cat.

Cat bit through the wii sensor cord. Bought an third-party wireless replacement, horrible decision since I always forgot turning it off and the battery was constantly uncharged when I wanted to play...

My cat chewed threw the power cord for the Wii U tablet. The cord was too thin now I scream at her anytime she gets near a wire. I get scared anytime she goes behind my entertainment center, lots of cords.

My most recent cat has chewed enough to put permanent marks on:

- A PC headset cord
- A 3DS USB charger
- My phone charging cord
- My headset

Luckily, the last three were all at the plug end.

Unfortunately, he's also going after my laptop cord, a PS3 charging cable and the cord for a WIi Nunchuck.

I had a platinum wave bird controller way back that was chewed up by my friends dog. Pissed me off because he said it wasn't a big deal, but I know goddamn well he would have been on my ass if the same had happened to him. Fucker's mom didn't even offer to get me a new one.

My two pet rabbits (may the rest in peace) would always chew through my gamecube controllers if I ever made the mistake of leaving them on the floor when they had the run of the basement. It's why I have four Wavebirds now.

They also chewed through my Golden Wii Classic Controller Pro when I got the GoldenEye remake, so I was cheesed about that...until I realized I could get some crappy old one, swap out the interior electronics and it was good as new.

Yeah, rabbits love chewing on cords.

My pet rabbit (who died one year ago to the day - RIP, little buddy) was particularly interested in power cords. He would chew straight through the narrower ones, which cost me three or four USB cables, but even the thicker cables weren't safe. Somehow he got in behind my TV cabinet and stripped a bunch of the insulation off my Wii power cable, something I only found out when I reached behind the cabinet in the blind to unplug it, grabbed the cable and got quite the electric shock!

There was probably a bit more that we could have done to keep him away from cables - we did have a barrier around the TV cabinet, but after a while he learned how to move it and get inside. In the end we really just considered it part of the cost of having a pet in a small NYC apartment. It's hard to designate a rabbit-proof room when you only have three rooms.

I was pretty steamed in the moment but it's hard to stay mad at this little guy.

My dogs chewed up a Gameboy Advance.

They tried to chew on my original Xbox, but they couldn't damage it.

One time I got a package of books. They chewed up the whole thing, books and package and all.

Like 5 or 6 years ago one of my family's dogs that we had at the time had explosive diarrhea and got shit inside my dad's PS3 phat's disc drive and USB ports. Not even joking.

that's what is keeping me from taking a kitten. :(

Kittens are a real joy to have though. And unless you have a lot of bad luck, a lot of destruction can be prevented by keeping your stuff tidy and/or out of the furball's reach.

It's always a gamble with kittens. You can end up with a destructive little tasmanian devil in a cat's skin, or a little darling that won't ever touch your stuff. My previous cat didn't bite a single cord in 15 years of her life (she would sometimes get behind the TV and accidentally disconnect some of the cables while squeezing herself between them, but that was hardly any harm).
