Has anyone else been raped in Red Dead Redemption 2?

LMAO. I just sat down at camp and Bill came up to me and said, "I met this strange feller at the swamp."

Arthur: "Did ya now?"

Bill: "Yeah. He seemed to know all about ya. I mean ALL about ya.. "

Then Arthur goes, "Get out a here...", but in a voice that was more like "ah quit ragging on me about that you ol' knucklehead"

Arthur: "Well, don't let me bother you"

Bill: "Alright"

And everything goes on normally.

Repeating the same argument against a stance I never even argued for (and even explicitly ruled out) doesn't do you any good. You are talking to your own imagination. Someone who doesn't exist. Because that's the way media works, and how gender/age attitudes work. An adult male is fair game for anything.

Typically, killings, crooks, evil villains are guys. Don't get me wrong, I think that is true. Let's face it, the majority of crime is done by men, and even a bigger majority of serious crimes are done by men too.

However, in real life, you still get female crooks, and you still get kids getting killed or teenagers committing crime.

But when it comes to movies, games and tv shows, usually it's in bad taste to show women being too evil, and kids being killed, especially when it's over the top. A male dude getting his head blown off... no problem. A woman being portrayed as a serial rapist or a kid getting his head chopped off.... not the best idea to show. And a kid getting raped..... how many times has that ever been shown?

I shot him in the back of the skull as he desperately ran for his life. The game said, "yeah, we don't have any problem with that".

Edit: I reloaded my save and he was there. I talked to him, threw a molotov after asking me to come in, he died, and I moved on.

It's another evil thing, next to murder, so I am happy to just move on. Enjoy the game.

It seems to try to aim for this emotional plea or moral angle, ignoring the rating system put in place. This game was not made to be some sort of Mr.Rogers Simulator....

Its why you keep saying to read your other points, but not actually just confirming what your actual point actually is...

The premise, pure and simple, was the random, hamfisted, insensitive, thoughtless, flippant manner in which they did it.

"Don't like it, don't play it"? The question, which I was already asking, and regarding which was making a futile attempt to find any sensible thought from anyone here, was why this is the attitude toward something as serious as rape, and yet for ten thousand other aspects of the content within the game or how it is designed, everyone is perfectly content to spend days on end discussing the merits or failures, praising or criticizing them by subjective standards, comparing personal thoughts and feelings on the different aspects of the game to each other to parse out what we think would be the best for the game and how what we actually got stands up in comparison?

The rating has absolutely nothing to do with this, because I am not talking about censorship. I am talking about human reception and the merits of a deliberately crafted work of media. Why is absolutely everything under the sun on the table for open discussion, but the second we get to rape we have to just accept what they decide to do with it or shut up and go away? Why is that your attitude toward rape as game content? Why are you not treating other aspects of game design and content in the same way? I already expressed my view of the sorts of things I think should have been done for the inclusion of such content to be considered as being done in an acceptable manner.

Go back through the thread and find the one where I toss out a handful of ideas of things they could have included to do it in a manner that is sensible to what it is in real life and matching to the measure of seriousness and impact on characterization and development that their violent criminal lifestyles has on them and the overall narrative.

Its rated M and its their game....

That is like saying in a quentin tarantino film, a character kills 88 people THOUGHTLESSLY....well....ok. They can actually do that. Its rated R and its his film.

You are arguing a moral, emotional argument. Don't play, watch, read etc something that you feel is that way and you'll be fine. I'm ok with rape being in the game cause rape happens in real life.....I have no issue with it existing as if the creator deems it so and the rating fits the concept, I'm ok with it being in the game as the game is RATED M.

You have a massive issue not being able to understand that a creator has the FREEDOM to create what they feel just so long as its under the ESRB, you don't need to like or accept it bud, it doesn't need to be morally just or anything like that. YOU WANT it to be that, that is not a need, that is a personal want.

We get there is a deference between the senseless violence in Tarantino films compared to someone like Haneke, but the difference doesn't mean one shouldn't exist vs the other or one is "morally" ok vs the other, its simply showing 2 different ways that violence can be used in someones works.

Play something else please...

If you are fine with it being allowed in, what is your point exactly? Because if you have no issue with it in and simply just don't like how it was done, again...PLAY SOMETHING ELSE, it solves your issue pretty easily.
