Has anyone had one of these burgers?

High protein/low carbohydrate diets limit the amount of carbs you can eat in a day, such as the Atkins diet. Bread is practically pure carbohydrate which is why you won't see any breads in an Atkins house. Vegetables have carbohydrate too, and the true Atkins warriors will just eat the meat and cheese, as seen a few posts above.

Not eating vegetables because they contain carbs sounds absolutely stupid. At least Paleo is more sensible than Atkins.

I mean I cant think of a single credible study that's ever shown fucking vegetables to be harmful.

That reminded me of this disgusting-looking, heart-stoppingly delicious Hawaiian cuisine:

Mmmm. Can't get any of that in Michigan. I need to binge when I get back to LA.

Loco Moco? Pretty easy to make. Just used ready made gravy if you're lazy to make from scratch. Same thing with rice too as they even have the ready-made just reheat ones as well. Over easy eggs and the burger patties themselves? Gotta cook 'em yourself.

OP burger looks awesome.

And so do the hamburger steaks and loco mocos.

Love me a good loco moco, even if I hardly eat rice and wheat nowadays.

After posting it, I figured I should search for a recipe online considering the only potentially problematic thing to create would be the gravy. Otherwise, it's just ground beef, rice, and eggs.

With gravy, you can cheat and use a really good ready-made stock (can or box) and just use something to thicken it with (probably a roux or some other thickening agent).

Me? I managed to find some organic ready-made gravy in a box from Sprouts. Only wish Trader Joe's had their ready-made gravy available year round. In a pinch, I'll use the McCormick stuff, just be careful as I found it on the salty side.

Sounds delicious. I have some leftover powdered gravy packages from Thanksgiving that I could probably use. I'll try to make some tonight since I haven't had some in ages. That and Spam Musubi and Fish-cake-riddled Saimin. So hungry.

Saw this today:

Nick at Dude Foods managed to pull this off thanks to an invention of America's cheese headquarters, Wisconsin, called "bread cheese." It's made of pressed, baked squeaky cheese curds, based on a Finnish cheese called Juustoleipa (which is fun to say), and it substituted perfectly for the real thing. Nick popped a piece of American cheese between two bread cheese "slices," sauteed it in some oil, and prayed that he wouldn't drop dead on the spot.

I'm on a low carb diet right now (under 30g a day) and eat a ton of vegetables, lettuce included. I would leave off the tomato and ketchup though since that is pretty carberific.

Going to have burgers for dinner tonight in fact :D

Meh, that's only phase one which is just the first two weeks, and that's only slightly high veggies like carrots that are excluded.

I eat paleo the majority of the time but still don't compromise the occasional burger, always get the bun, it just simply isn't good without it.

I guess I'm no health expert, but like every picture in this topic posted looks more unhealthy than just a tradional bun cheeseburger to me.

Dude, you're make me want some L&L now lol...

Well hope the loco moco turns out well, as it's fairly fool-proof so long as you know how to cook basic things in a frying pan.

Depends on which ones you mean. A lettuce-wrapped cheeseburger has less calories than a bun burger, but has all the same stuff. The Flying Dutchman I posted is simply meat, cheese & meat - and nothing else. A loco moco or hamburger steak? Of course, but they're a knife/fork kinda meal. Specialty burgers? Sure, since they have more than just lettuce, tomato, cheese & meat.

That's just a stupid idea. Would you eat a lettuce salad mixed with ground beef and cheese with a ketchup and mustard dressing? Of course not! So why the hell are you eating this?

It's time to engorge on some fatty, greasy, Hawaiian sustenance. Saimin ain't so bad, though. L&L and Shakas both have their strong and weak menu items, with Ono Hawaiian BBQ (and other similar variants) being third class in most respects except for portion size.
