Has the Wii-U saved us this Gen?

Licorice-flavoured booze?
I really think it has and who would of thought it?

I had no interest in the Wii-U initially, not at it's current price point, I only grabbed one a few months ago because someone I knew was selling one cheap and I've honestly not stopped playing it ever since, PC, PS4, Xbox One, nothing has really interested me, I expected a lot more from the other platforms and have been sorely disappointed thus far.

Halo/Gears was my biggest pull for the Xbox platform last gen but I feel it's more than had it's run now, and don't even get me started with Playstation that has lost soo many of their classic franchises, as a 'core' UK Playstation fan I don't even feel connected to them these days, I feel they've lost their identity, and PC, perhaps I'm stuck in the 90's but I really miss my original FPS's, that being said Wolfenstein was pretty good but they are few and far between this days.

Seriously, thank you Nintendo for continuing do what you do best, make decent, fun, polished games, I would of been lost this gen otherwise.

For me, it has to a point. I don't ever expect to have as much fun as I did playing The Wonderful 101 throughout the whole life cycle of the PS4/Xbox One.

You better pick up Splatoon. :)

But other than that I don't think so about saving this gen

It has certainly produced better exclusive titles than the other platforms.

Eh.....Title needed better choice of words. Your gonna have a bad time here. =/

But I do agree on how amazing the Wii U is. But PS4 is gaining a lot of moment fast though.

I have a Wii U and a PS4 (and a Vita), and while I love a few games on the Wii U I spend the vast majority of my time on the PS4. The social features alone make it a better console.

So the Wii U saved "us" the generation (that is far from over, if you even want to count the Wii U into the same gen as PS4 and Xbox One) because you enjoyed it more?

First post nailed it. Still not enough for me to justify the cost. I'll get one when it drops to $149 or lower or if a new Zelda somehow turns out to be amazing...I'm not a fan of Mario Kart/Smash, so there is very little for me to justify a console purchase for one or two games. Way too many other games coming out on various consoles to play.

It's my least played system out of all three by quite a margin, so for me, personally? No. It's the biggest disappointment of the generation, but I'm not too bothered by that, I actually knew what I was going to get and I got it.

Well if it wasn't for Wii U I wouldn't have bought any home consoles this gen but I still wouldn't say it saved anything. Nintendo is still the biggest part of this hobby to me but that's just how it has always been.

Wii U's still a good supplemental system, anything with 5 games i play a year isn't going to "save" a generation for myself. It helps make it suck less though.

It's saved some empty space in my closet. It's been sitting in there since I bought it in November.

One day i'll have the time to play the damn thing.

This is what we call a "Personal opinion"... It has saved this gen for you, not us.

Personally, the PS4 has saved this gen for me.

Hey OP, I see what you're saying. Wii U has a fantastic lineup of exclusives with the least amount of delays...but in your case as far as the Wii U "saving" the Gen, I think you mean it saved it for you.

See some posts before and after this one, and you'll see what I mean :P

For me, the complete experience is WiiU + [PS4 and/or Xbone and/or PC].

Right now I have a WiiU and a PS4 and a gaming PC (albeit the PC is currently out of commission). It's a great combo. Each offers something the other does not.

The idea of gaming without Nintendo feels so empty, though.

Its a good system but saved?

In my opinion, it has the least amount of games I want to play.

Many people enjoy their XB1 and PS4s.

I could make the same thread for XB1 or PS4, too.

I love my PS4 and none of those games can be found on Wii U.

Also, 2015 so far has been barren for the system.

I'm glad you like your Wii U, but no, Nintendo hasn't saved shit.

The closest thing it came to saving me from was a drought of solid character action titles.

Sadly the Wii-U most strongly represents what this gen will be remembered for, being underwhelming.

Its a great console for nintendo fans like myself. Also a good platinum games console. It saved me from the garbage that Nintendo pushed out on og wii.

Well, I mean, it's the only good next-gen platform but that isn't saying much, particularly since it's likely to be killed off next year.

Ummmmm no. Not even close. I haven't played anything on the Wii U for months now. The exclusives are great, but they're few and far between and there's quite a few more compelling games available for the ps4 at this point. And Witcher 3 comes out in a week.

PS4/Xbone part of gen has hardly started.
Wii U part of gen is already one foot in the grave. Had Zelda not been delayed this would be the last year of Wii U as a platform.

throwing a crying infant inside a lion's den would appropriately describe the existence of this thread

I kind of agree with you...
My main complaint is just how criminally under-rated some wii u games were by reviewers,
down the line when people do eventually play some of these titles the'll be shocked at how good the games were and how the wii u was selling so badly.
It's sad to see some amazing wii u games getting scores like 4,5, or 6 yet down right broken titles like ass creed unity and little big planet 3 get a free pass.
It's as if people want to see nintendo fail in the hopes that they go mobile or third party.
