Has the Wii-U saved us this Gen?

Would this gen still be moving along without the PS4? X1? PC? What a weird thing to say.

Anyway the title was inflammatory and brought out all the PS4 fans to defend their turf but don't turn this turf wars.

Reading the actual OP, I see what you mean.

I really want to play Splatoon

PC is in its own realm, it would exist and move forward regardless.

If sales are any indication (and what other metric could we use) This Gen would be dead without the PS4/XBone.

PS3, and XB360 were still outselling WiiU in the major markets

I am with you OP, the Wii U does have the best Fun x Time ratio, its pure quality.

I don't agree at all. I bought a WiiU at launch, and I feel all their big first party series that they have put out so far were the most boring and mediocre entries of their respective series. The only game I really enjoyed was WWHD, because I loved it on the GC.

So no, at least for me, it doesn't have the best Fun x Time ratio... at all.

I have a PC, PS4 and a Wii U, agree with you because i play the multiplatforms on PC. I love the Wii U exclusives, the PS4s ones are really good too. But the console that i play more is my Wii U.

Wrong wording. It has not saved anything, but I have been loving it since launch.

It has been a great console, with great games, both new and old (VC).

I play it a lot, similar to my PS4 even though the latter is my Multiplat machine.

Although if I had a very nice PC, I would be playing that more, but I cannot justify one with my playing time and so many other devices.

Wii U doesn't exist in a vacuum, but it's my main console and I love it so far. I hope it will get a new wave of hits announced at E3 for next year.

HD Nintendo is best Nintendo, and it's my favorite editor by a huge margin.

Sure, but he's also right. Wii U is far and away the bright spot of this gen.

If by bright spot you mean has the most Nintendo games, absolutely. If you mean anything else, no. A handful of great Nintendo games doesn't come close to making up for the lacking indie support or complete dearth of 3rd party support.

Really glad you like the system OP, it has a bunch of great games on it for sure with quite a few more to come :D

While I personally don't think it saved this gen per se, I'm glad it exists even if the market doesn't care about it.

Can't wait for Splatoon.

Excited for PS4 as well, not just Wii U of course. I want that FFXV and Persona 5.

from what? 3rd parties?

To address the thread better, because it's a little more logical on this page, I don't really have a favorite? I mean, I used to think there was a clear winner with the last gen for my heart. But now I like video games too much to segment myself away.

I love my PS4 + PS3 + PC + WiiU + 3DS + Vita combo. If one slacks, like the Wii U for fighters, the PS4 and PS3 pick up in that area.

It's an ecosystem of black consoles in my house.

No.

The only game im gonna play on WiiU is Xenoblade. And maybe Bayonetta 2

Im just tired of marios and other games like this after 20 years

Seriously, thank you Nintendo for continuing do what you do best, make decent, fun, polished games, I would of been lost this gen otherwise.

I agree.
Thanks Nintendo.

I almost got used to terrible software quality on PS3 (tearing, freezing, alpha-version framerates) and almost thought that proper software quality wouldn't be possible for HD games. Not anymore.

It seems the majority of gamers nowadays doesn't care. But I do.

No, Sony did. If all the consoles were selling as badly as Wii U was, or doing well in 2 out of hundreds of regions like Xbox One, the market would be in a dire situation. Wii U didn't save shit, though it has a handful of classics in its library, I must say.

Pretty much the same for me minus the pc.
one always picks up the slack for others so they all get their uses.

It saved you money.

It's an excellent console when it's used for playing the few Nintendo releases a year. Other then that it collects dust.

But there is probably a dozen or so must haves on the system imo.

I really think it has and who would of thought it?

Seriously, thank you Nintendo for continuing do what you do best, make decent, fun, polished games, I would of been lost this gen otherwise.

Glad you like your console, remember its not obviously for everyone..

My console and my gamez are da best posts are well....

The Wii U is like Jesus.

They both saved us and they both have twelve followers.

Made me laugh.

I have a Wii U and a PS4 (and a Vita), and while I love a few games on the Wii U I spend the vast majority of my time on the PS4. The social features alone make it a better console.

bam this!

have both and other consoles but the PS4 is eating all my play time. i think the OP chose really bad thread title.

off topic: man your avatar...sheesh i cant stop looking.

I enjoy all of this generation's systems, but so far, I've played the Wii U the most. I mean, it really comes down to what kind of genres you enjoy. I'm in the middle of Tropical Freeze (World 4) right now, and it's easily one of the best games I've ever played. I just can't believe how good every aspect of it is. I just finished 4-3 and am still in awe...

Well, it does have the best exclusives, but considering the competition this gen that's not overly impressive.

Prolly the best pairing for a PC.

Weakest hardware
Weakest sales
Weakest 3rd party support
Weakest online features
Weakest media features

Good 1st party support
Good BC

So, as long as you think their 1st party games are a LOT better than PS4/XB1's, you can say that it's a better console.
As far as "saving" anything, I don't see that anywhere.

Well you have to look at it this way, When the WiiU was the only console out for that whole year and doing terrible, that was what got people to say that consoles were dead and that the X1 and PS4 never even had a chance, The wiiU has good games but it's still early for the PS4 and X1 and you could also say that that Nintendo has lauched all their big games already while those big games have still yet to come for the PS4 and X1, but in the end it's all opinions and enjoy what you have
