I saw this new section that says "stream your own game" and "buy and stream select games." This sounds awfully like what Sony is doing with their Portal streaming, but you would do it through GamePass. Can you actually buy games on app or something online? But if you have to buy them on a console then I'm not bothering,

Basically you buy a digital game and you can stream it remotely on any compatable device. What's different between this and sony is i don't believe this will use your xbox as the streaming server where as remote play will use your ps5/xbox series as the streaming server.

No you don't.

Just buy compatible games and have a basic Game Pass subscription. Essential will do. And then visit the Xbox website (not through the app)

They have been doing this since November 2024, it was expanded to Essential and Premium tiers in October 2025.

No Console needed, just Buy and Stream if a game is Cloud Enabled.

EA games are only streamable via Ultimate tier.

Stream your own games started on Xbox about a year ago. It's not as supported as PS though where most new PS5 games can be streamed at launch.
