We all have our biases. Some companies are the focus of more hate, for whatever reason, and people will let their views show (sometimes unknowingly) when they post in a thread pertaining to said company. ITT we declare our reasons for animosity towards company X. The general consensus is that people dislike EA, Ubisoft, and SE for whatever reason. Well, here's your chance to actually say in a civilized manner why, instead of just hinting at it in your posts.

The thread title is misleading because hate is such a strong word. I'm not looking for blind unjustified stupidity, but rather reasons why a certain company has rubbed you the wrong way and why you dislike them in general. No system wars just software stuff please. Also no - "it's just business" - replies. I know the ultimate goal of a company is to make money, but that doesn't mean that we have to be happy with their practices.

I hate you. Nothing stealthy about that sucka

I hope all bad things in life happen to you and no one else but you.

The only reason I've ever disliked any company is the fans. I don't give a crap about their practices, there's the law for that.

I hate Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. The reasons are numerous, but the primary reason is that all these companies want is my money.

It's not a trap!

Not if you justify why a certain company has rubbed you the wrong way.

SE has been ignoring beloved franchises for years. They turn their attention toward re-releases, when fans are crying for a revival of almost any of their old franchises.

EA? I don't personally have a problem with them, but tell me why so many people on this board do.

Sony: The PS3 signifies everything that is (was) wrong with the video game industry.
Nintendo: Your online sucks as does Wii graphics.
MS: Can't be trusted to lead any industry.

Wow, I actually agree with you.
I think I'm gonna go throw up.

But I forgive them for giving us Phoenix Wright. <3 <3 <3

Capcom pissed me off for the longest time in the 16-bit era when they couldn't count to three. Now they are having trouble counting to four.

I agree with that. If they botch up Brawl's online, I won't forgive them.

Sony only allows overpriced proprietary accessories, has microtransactions, locks everyone out and sells PICTURES?

Okay, fine, I admit it:
I don't like GAF user dfyb. I know I've been subtle about this in the past, such as when I said my dream was for him to get banned, but now I just want to come out and say it. Thanks for this thread so I could get that off my chest!

...was that the sort of thing you're looking for?

I don't get this one, care to elaborate? Though I kind of agree with the second two.

So... why do you hate him then?

Megaman Battle Network 6?
Megaman X8?

Not exactly. The focus is software developers and you have to give reasons why they aren't in your good graces.

lol at the idea MS likes proprietary stuff compared to Sony. Don't make me tell you about the memory stick slot on a Sony CRT...

I hate ColecoVision. Uppity leather company from Connecticut, only three of four Donkey Kong levels? WTF.

Yeah, I hate him as well.

He stirs more system wars shit than me, and that's saying something.

I don't hate Sony or Nintendo... I am just too invested with Microsoft/Xbox that I really don't have the money nor time to support another platform.

I will however get a PS3 when MGS4 comes out... but until then I have a bias in favor of Microsoft.

Oh, sorry. I'm not really good at being truthful, it's new to me.

All right: I don't like EA. I really don't like EA. I don't boycott them, but I despise them. It's just so disturbing to me that a company with that little regard for their customers makes so much money. They're entire business plan of "if it's threatening us in any way, get rid of it in any way possible", while a smart business plan, is not good for me as a consumer.

Plus, I really liked NFL 2K5.

Ok.

Damn it.

I hate Sega because all they do is shit, instead of making shemue 3. And i hate Nintendo, because the Wii is the antichrist.

Well i guess i will start with the 3 console manufacturers then..

Nintendo: Why must you stiff us on the hardware front? At least give us our money's worth. You could have had the "great" system this gen, but now because of your penny-pinching we are stuck with 3 "good" systems. While you are at it, show that you are really trying to appeal to everyone, not some wishy-washy verbal support here and there. How the hell a company in this business for almost 20 years can fail to realise something simple as this is beyond me.

Sony: Wanted your console the most, burned me the most. Why do you think that people would want to buy a $700 (now $600 CAD) machine? Don't give me that "true next gen" bullshit. I dont give a **** about blue-ray. I just wanted the good games. But no videogaming console is worth that much. I have much better things to spend my money on.

Microsoft: You started this "expensive console" crap. Luckily for you Sony ****ed more than you did, but that doesn't make your console any cheaper. And then on top of that your consoles break if you look at them funny. That is bullshit in itself. You are also as guilty as Nintendo for failing to try to appeal to everyone. Sure self-proclaimed "hardcore" internet forum-going nerds might love your console, but that doesn't warrant any respect from me until you try to expand the audience you are trying to make a profit off.

I'm not too fond of Nintendo right about now.
I could go on and say all the typical "They're destroying gaming" and whatnot, but that's not the reason.

I don't like them because they are releasing nothing of interest to me and I see no sign of that changing. I see it getting worse, actually. Their newest big name game is basically a collection of minigames, which isn't bad on it's own right, but it shouldn't be NINTENDO'S next big game. Talent is being wasted on WiiFit.
So yeah, I don't like Nintendo because they no longer appeal to me.

What have you done! I kind of toyed around with Pandora's shit, but you've thrown it around the room, stepped on it, and set it afire. Comments pertaining to software only please.

This is a good reply.

Also, I'm not on good terms with Lucasarts right now because they haven't announced next-gen KOTOR or Battlefront, and they rushed KOTOR2 out the door before it was done.

I'm not happy with Nintendo (though I own a Wii and DS) because I'm not happy with the way they've been ignoring my favorite franchises and creating new IPs that I don't care about (like WiiFit) instead of new ones I care about (like they did with Pikmin). They also appear to be slacking with their IPs on the DS. I'm also jealous of them because they can publish dogshit like Mario Party and it still sells really well.

Loathe Nintendo. It's hard for me to pinpoint the exact time when this started, but I'd bargain it was around the first year or two after the Game Cube launched. I'd already jumped ship a few years earlier, though, when I chucked the N64 in favor of Playstation. I did actually like the N64, but it wasn't delivering *enough* of the games I wanted to play. I'm starting to think that I was never a big Nintendo fan in the first place, but simply went where the majority of the games went. Nintendo had the 3rd party scene locked back in the day, as we all know.

Anyway, I suppose that's neither here nor there, but I did actually enjoy the company's first party games in the NES/SNES days.

The shift that sent me over the edge, though, is just as hard to nail down, but once again, I feel it happened during the N64 -> GC transition period. It was subtle, but it was a lot like New Simpsons compared to Old Simpsons or Eisner's Disney to, uh, Disney's Disney. Nintendo was losing its edge and started to become a parody of itself. True creativity was overshadowed by a continual reapplication of iconic characters and themes. The charming elements of their games became saccharine or juvenile (not in the raunchy, immature sense, but the playschool sense). And even worse, their biggest fans settled into a mindset befitting of the company's new attitude and they're willing to express it in the form of bad fanart or socially awkward manchildren posting loveletters in the form of youtube videos.

The Wii is only their most recent and extreme expression. I've barely used the console since I've gotten it and the future lineup appeals to me less and less. It's ironic that my favorite Nintendo series remain the Mario-themed RPGs and SSB, two of the most self-referential ones in the company's repertoire (well, there's Earthbound, too, but we can see how well they treat that one)! But I suppose they both have a knack for expanding the lore, being cheeky and humorous in a way that's beyond Teletubbies slapstick, or cherry-pick elements of Nintendo's past that the company, in a greater sense, has tended to forget about.

The DS is alright. It's got a lot of 3rd party support and said 3rd party games are far and above my favorite on the system.

But it all comes back to the feeling that Nintendo's schtick has long since worn thin with me. I'm looking for a fulfilling core experience with new ideas that don't seem forced upon the user. I want longer, more engaging narratives and complex gameplay and the times when I'm itching for a more arcade-style, short-form gaming experience all I've got to do is log onto XBLA or PSN.

Edit: Also, what the hell has happened to the company's music composers? They haven't produced a truly iconic new tune in years. Instead we get endless remixes or way-too-chipper songs that seem like they were tapped out on a Casio over a preset background track.

I like where this is going. This thread would improve vastly if everyone just posted their Ignore lists.

I dislike sports games.

Why? Because they come out at exactly the time every year, with barely any near features save a new roster and yet they still sell million of copies, even if they are crap they will sell just because of the series name.

I also dislike the fact music is overlooked in some games, but great music can make a game memorable.

Oh, and I feel I have a valid reason to be annoyed at Nintendo now. They have a system that could potentially change the way gaming is viewed in society yet the games that are coming out for it aren't utilising the technology fully...though I'm not sure that's Nintendos fault, I still don't like them for it.

I hate ColecoVision. Uppity leather company from Connecticut, only three of four Donkey Kong levels? WTF.

$40 512MB mem card.
$100 wireless adapter.
$20 USB cable aka play and charge kit.
$130 wheel and no support for anyone else's.

Of course MS likes the proprietary stuff, it makes them loads of monies. Same with XBL and selling pictures, everyone can bash it all I/we want and it does nothing, because it's free money and from a business perspective, MS would be dumb to stop doing it.

I also hate multi-SKUs, just pick one and stick with it.

Your CT bashing has no affect on me, I hate it here too.
