oh fuck...I'm goin vietnam in july too :( will be spending most of my time in the countryside as well!

I live in the basement and I get bit by spiders while sleeping about once every couple weeks.

i feel a sting and i'm out of bed in like 2 microseconds and half the time i find a spider on the bed or nearby. The other half i'm guessing they crawl INTO THOSE SECRET PLACES THAT HUMANS DON'T KNOW ABOUT.

Luckily i haven't been bit by brown recluse yet, or at least it was a dry bite. They've multiplied exponentially the last couple of years :(

Luckily, I'm not part of the student group my school is taking to Vietnam. I have two friends that are though.

MOVE TO A NEW HOUSE

heh that was the problem, it was a newly built house and we didn't have anyone around us. So we got all the critters coming into the house.

I hated spiders and snakes with a passion being a city kid, but after a month or two or all sorts of spiders, snakes, and coyotes you get used to it.

This is one of those threads where you wish you could reach through your monitor and punch the person posting the random pics in the face :\.Wow.

Take a closer look at that desert spider...

Notice anything?

That's right...it's not that big at all. It's a lens trick, the spider is actually being held up really close to the camera (you can see the guys hand that's holding it...and it's as big as the spider).

Still scary as shit, though. But not as bad as it looks at first sight.

NO SON, DON'T TRY TO LIE TO YOURSELF. btw, i love spiders

Reading some replies, I'm glad I live in a part of the world where spiders are harmless, and scorpions are non-existant. And @ at the 'Why did I click' replies :lol

*chills* I hate snakes, good man though that takes guts.

This one's actually on someone's arm. Look. That's skin the purdy little spider is resting on.

These are beautiful. I'm going to save them and print them to high quality photo paper.

*shudders*

I hate spiders, yet for some retarded reason, I keep clicking on this nasty thread to see what else people have posted.

It never occurred to me that someone might think it was actually as big as that guy's leg :lol

Wusses, they'll run away for the most part.

Unless you're sleeping.

Oh and check your shoes, my little sister shook her boots out one year and a black widow fell out.

When I was in Japan, I spent a week in Fukuoka. These were everywhere:

and yes, they were big.

Yeah, we have them down here here in SC, too. Must be a warm temperate thing. The spiderwebs don't break easily when you walk into them, either, so it's like a net. :lol

I had one of these guys living in my room for a while. When I first saw him, I thought about squshing him, but I figured if I let him live, he would eat other bugs that I hate. So we became friends.

Aren't they orb weaver, which IIRC weaves one of the strongest spider silk webs on the planet?

Thank you PBS! :P
