Have you ever played a PERFECT game?

If I had to choose one, Baldur's Gate (original) is the choice. it was the perfect game, never have been that uttelry lost myself to a videogame like I was to that adventure when it came out.

MGS1 in my eyes is flawless.
And more recently The last of us.

Both of these felt like a pair of shoes that just fit perfectly.

Metroid Prime sure ain't perfect.

To answer the OP, nope. However, there are games I would give a 10/10 based on my enjoyment of them even if there's at least a few flaws I can acknowledge. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7, Danganronpa, Mega Man X 4, other stuff.

Persona 4 might do one or two things right that people seem to like, but it is a really fucking flawed game.

Metroid Prime is my favorite game ever made. It's not perfect.

There are a lot of flaws, like how the Omega Pirate requires the X-ray Visor to even damage it or how useless the Flamethrower is. However, those flaws are not what define Metroid Prime to me. What defines Metroid Prime is how amazing everything else is.

Every game is flawed in some way. Even Super Metroid, the closest I've played to a flawless game, still has issues like scrolling through power-ups with one button or the obnoxious Maridia sandpits. And that's okay, because I care more about the things these games do well than the very few missteps they make.

Even my favorite games has issues, that bother me.

It's the same for movies, except Back to the Future 1. Every second in this movie makes sense.

Ocarina of Time. Everything about this game is perfect - gameplay, sound effects, music, story, setting, items, dungeons, sidequests, and Link riding Epona in the opening scene? Good lord.

I replay it every year and it never fails to amaze me each time. It literally is the best game of all time for me.

GTA V or San Andreas because of the sheer volume of activities. There's something for everyone in these games. Sometimes I start GTA and just cruise the city. Stop by the gun shop and fire off some rounds.

The only thing the game needs is the ability for all characters to own pets and possibly DLC mansions/the option to buy a military base. These are minor personal nitpicks but overall the game is flawless, in my opinion.

I mean literally perfect (having no mistakes or flaws).

I have played one perfect game in my 15 years of gaming, and that game is Metroid Prime, everything about it is perfect.

In fact, Metroid Prime is the only perfect thing I have ever seen in my whole life. It got me questioning that popular saying "nothing is perfect".

So now I'm here creating this thread: have you ever played a perfect game?

And once again, I mean LITERALLY perfect.

What's funny is, I came here to post a Metroid game as well. But the really, real perfect one (even though there's no such thing, but it's pretty damn close).

No game can be perfect.

Metroid Prime could easily be better by bumping up the resolution to 1080p+ for instance.

I don't really get all the graphic whorring. Nothing on earth would be considered "perfect" if you're looking at how it could be improved in the future. You have to look at it from the point in time it first existed. Look at how many people go on and on about how RE4 has "perfect pacing". Even if it technically doesn't, it's one of the best paced games ever and so people toss accolades its way. In the future if there happened to be many games that ended up being better at pacing, will people suddenly go "Aw yeah, RE4 had shit pacing!"?

No game can be perfect.

Metroid Prime could easily be better by bumping up the resolution to 1080p+ for instance.

Dolphin says hello.

You know how I know the only current candidate for perfect game is Tetris? Because in 100 years, people will still be playing Tetris. All the others listed in this thread? Only as historical curiosities or brief retro stints.

You don't have to believe me. But I guarantee it.

For me,

Tetris
Super Mario World
A Link To The Past
A Link Between Worlds
Spelunky

Things I hold in the highest of high regards include

System Shock 2
Deus Ex
Diablo 2
Metal Gear Solid

But they aren't perfect. I feel like you could make a case for Deus Ex being perfect, but I don't remember the late game very well. Many many more but those stand out.

If Super Metroid is perfect, y cant metroid crawl?

Yeah, put me in the... there's no such thing as a perfect video game.

Ok, Tetris.

First game that came to mind was Metroid Prime. That was before I clicked the thread so the OP made me chuckle.

Yeah, I'm not even sure if it's possible for a game to BE perfect, but at least MP is pretty damn close to any definition I can come up with, except for "everything in one package", which we'll never get anyway.

I'm sure I could pick more candidates if I tried.

Itt: people who list their favorite games, regardless of flaws.

Tetris: The Grandmaster 2
Outrun 2
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX

Possibly Galaga, too.

Not many, honestly.

I had no single complaint about Fire Emblem Awakening. Not even a little one. I guess the games is perfect for me. I also expect it to age gracefully.

I would say that my favorite game is Dark Souls but it is far from perfect. The second thing that comes to mind is Super Mario Galaxy but I do not believe that anything can be perfect so the answer is no.

There are some faults in the design, exemplified by Ego https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOC3vixnj_0

Taking how this was their first 3D game you really can't fault them too much but they were avoidable thereafter.

His points are less about how OoT sucks more than how OoT don't follow the same design principles of past zeldas. I just finished OoT 3DS and expected to disappointed with rosy memories of the n64 days but actually l was surprised on how flawless it still is. Seriously the only thing I can find fault would be a water temple a tad too confusing, unskippable cutscenes and some really out of the way heart pieces / gold skulltulas.
