Have you ever played a PERFECT game?

I was going to say no, but then I realized that, in fact, I have.

I literally can't think of a single thing I would change outside of outright adding more. UNDERTALE is utterly sublime in every way.

Metroid Prime is very close, but the Chozo Artifacts quest could have been handled much better.

Chrono Trigger
Zelda: A Link To The Past
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
Mega Man X
Castlevania SoTN
Final Fantasy Tactics

All perfect.

I think the only game that could even qualify as perfect is Tetris on Gameboy. It's so goddamn simple, intuitive on a damn near instinctual level, and well-executed to the point that every refinement or addition to the original formula is superfluous at best, and completely unnecessary at worst.

I would LOVE to hear another suggestion that you literally can't come up with a flaw for

I'd say Tetris on the Game Boy is as close to a flawless game that I've ever played. My personal 10/10s number three - Final Fantasy VII, Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls, but I don't think any of them are "perfect".

Flawed thread premise. It's not really possible.

Even so, I've played games I dubbed as being perfect for me (and even then, that's really just an at the moment thing, based on what I really needed from a game at the time).

Witcher 3, Kingdom Hearts 1 & Birth By Sleep, Pokemon Gold, Red Dead Redemption, inFamous 2, Final Fantasy X, XII & Tactics Advance (I really love Ivalice lol), Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and The Last of Us all come up off the top of my head as being games I think are a perfect product of story and gameplay (for what each individual game was trying to do).

Castlevania SOTN, advance wars DS, Metroid Prime, super metroid, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Ninja Gaiden Xbox,

I'd argue Inside is a perfect game. Extremely tight. Doesn't overstay it's welcome. Extremely polished. Fun to play. Finely crafted puzzling. Great atmosphere and graphics. Really cool ending. Leaves you thinking about it for days after finishing it.

There are perfect games, just like there are perfect movies. A game you wouldn't change a single thing about. Every level, character, boss fight, music, they are all just right.

Tetris is a perfect game. Street Fighter II is a perfect game. Perhaps there are some indies that are perfect as well, poster above me mentioned Inside, yes I think that could be argued to be perfect for those reasons, it's just the right size. Think it's pretty tough for a modern AAA game to be perfect, but Nintendo has probably done it. I think Bioshock comes very close.

The simpler and less ambitious a game the easier it is be perfect, though. Other games, Grim Fandango or Day of the Tentacle? Some of those point and click games were near perfect.

Breathe of the Wild is an amazing game, it might be perfect. It's certainly one of the best and most amazing AAA games I've ever played.

OutRun is pretty much perfect. The graphics, music, controls and gameplay are legendary and never fail to bring a smile to my face. I wouldn't want to change a single thing.

OG Arcade Streets of Rage.

Still dream of wanting to play somthing that bad as a kid.

Heavenly Sword and Vanquish came nigh last gen. Still waiting for this gens Vanquish/HS.

Bloodborne? Bloodborne.
Every single thing in that game works, the only issues are one of the player's own skill, and there's a shit ton of content.

Single player: Closest is Breath Of The Wild. ROFLSTOMPS both orcarina of time and majoras mask in my honest opinion.

Multiplayer: Smash brothers series. A little something for everyone.

Breath of the Wild while amazing as hell in it's exploration aspect and puzzles. Combat in general and every boss minus two are huge waste of times and dull as hell and food and powers break the game too easy

That alone prevents it from being perfect.

A perfect game has to be perfect in the sum of the whole.

At this point tetris and maybe say minesweeper qualify still but there are a lot of games that get really really close

ALttP get's really close, Chrono Trigger gets really close, SotN get's really close but get's jacked by the shield rod breaking the game and so on.

One time I beat an enemy in a fighting game without taking damage and the game said "perfect" so I guess so yeah uh huh

Even if it suppose to be a joke post, there is a lot truth in it.
These games in theirs simplicity are somehow perfect.

That's because every layer you add onto something is an extra chance to ruin something's perfection at the same time there are some things where being too simple doesn't bring out everything that something could be and thus being simple tarnishes it's perfectness

I've played games that I'd call perfect, but a lot of the more clearly flawed games I've played have also been more interesting, more fun, or more deeply affecting.

First thing in my mind.

There isn't a single aspect of the game I would change.

Metroid Prime too.

BotW, while I consider probably one of my favorite games ever, has a bunch of little things that I would change (especially the ending) so it's not perfect, in my eyes.

Yes MGS1 and Dark Souls original

I love them both, but neither is without flaws

MGS1 had lots of tedious stuff close to the end: forced Alert sequences, padding running back and forth with those launch codes

Dark Souls had Lost Izalith and broken multi-player matchmaking compared to the other games

No. At best there are only a few annoyances, but that automatically means it ain't perfect.

Water temple proves you wrong

Edit: ok the that post is from 2015 *sigh*

Quick story: I was really late to the party with Ocarina, played it on the Wii VC. For years I heard people saying how horrible the water temple was, so I was prepared to hate it. Then I got to the water temple... and loved it.

Chrono Trigger is a game where I have trouble finding a flaw. That has to be the closest I can imagine.

Pacing, tone, humor, art direction, OST, battle system.

Probably that or Link to the Past.

There is no literally perfect game.

Ofcourse not fact/widespread wise but as opinions for individuals there can be.

Edit: oh that post is 2 years old.... Hehe my bad.

My choice would be the Metroid Prime Trilogy the pointer controls + 3 fantastic games is so on point best 60 bucks i ever spent on gaming.

I've had perfect experiences, but no game is perfect.

Persona 5 is my favorite game ever and was an unforgettable gaming experience that I wouldn't change anything about. But it isn't a perfect game.
