Have you played Mega Man 1-6?

I would say you need to try Mega Man X or X2 -- this was the pinnacle of the series. Same basic structure, but a lot more depth.

Yup.

Oh and I've played 1-4 and 6, but not 5. Weird.

I rented all of them when I was 12 and had just bought an NES (in 1998!). Didn't beat Mega Man 2 until earlier today though.

Seriously? BUBBLES? BUBBLE LEAD?! SERIOUSLY?

Yep, it's usually the oddest of weapons that is needed to take down the big bad.

Yes. Getting MM6 for $14.99 brand new at Toys R US on Thanksgiving weekend 1994 still brings a warm feeling to my heart.

What is with the bad cosplay pics?

The entire end sequence is pretty funny, really.

Oh my god HE'S AN ALIEN!!!

Lolz just kidding!

yes, all of them, countless times. If someone hasn't played them, he should try it. The games haven't aged a day

I was playing that thinking, "so THIS is where Metal Slug 3 got that"

Yep, I always made sure to rent each version back in the day, as soon as each sequel was released. I fell out of the series with Mega Man X, though...it just didn't hold up to the 8-bit titles, and that's all it took to turn me off.

Funny enough, I was always pretty great at MM titles back in the day, but trying to replay the old titles a few weeks ago gave me a LOT of trouble - I never even finished. I've totally lost my touch. Yet I still had a blast, and I intend to try to successfully complete the games again before MM9...gotta practice.

Well, 6 was technically released after X.

But 5 wasn't. 5 is awesome. People need to stop shitting on 5!
You are right. I LOVE MM5. It's baby easy... but it's a good entry.

MM6 I could never get into

I love Mega Man 6. It's my second favorite besides 5. It had a great atmosphere and I loved the colorful graphics. It had alot of problems but I still love it very much.

In fact, I'm gonna go play through both of them right now.

I just finished 6 a minute ago (the credits roll as I type). I have to say it was a pretty solid game overall, and it distinguishes itself enough from the others that it qualifies as a worthy entry. I had just assumed up until this point that it was the NES' throwaway MM.

It's not as good as 3 or 4 for me, but it was definitely worth playing. Don't know why I waited so long.

I may hit 5 next and just go in reverse order through the NES games, while I'm at it.

I played all the MM games, and all of the X games through 5... never played 6 though, and never bothered the Zero series for some reason. Never played the Legends games either. And I played MMZX but didn't care very much for it (great music though!). 2, 3, 5, X1, and X4 are still the best.

is megaman 6 the one with knightman and yamatoman? cuz they were the shit...

Should I feel bad about loving Rockman and Forte the most out of all the traditional Mega Man games? For years, I've considered this game as Mega Man 9. I've played MM1-7 but never played 8.

Yeah, I don't understand the hate for 6. That game actually brought a few interesting twists to the formula. Finding the real boss added replay value.

in light of the MM9 announcement, i dusted off the anniversary collection and tried to play through 1-6. unfortunately, i've played them all so many times and know the platform/attack patterns so well i just couldn't enjoy it. so hopefully MM9 will remedy this, since it's alledgedly quite hard. normally i dont like ball-busting difficulty. but on this occaision i welcome it.

anyway, to whoever brought up MM5, i agreee that it's the best one (well, besides 2).

I don't see why you should, MMnB is probably one of my favourites of the classic series now. Classic gameplay, two playable characters, no gimmicks, brutal levels
(no e-tanks for one thing)
, and Wily levels that may very well be made by Wily himself. I put it up there with 2, 3 and 6; even up there with the Zero games.

It's unfortunate both suits weren't used again in the subsequent MM games, cause the Power Suit was awesome and the Jet suit used in 7 wasn't the same (no weight for starters).

I haven't the slightest idea which ones I've played. I know I played...I guess the NES ones back in the day but damned if I can remember which.

Hard, is what I remember. Fun too.

I think the series started to go downhill after X2. Everything prior to that was infinitely kick-ass.

Except for Megaman X4 which is unbelievable eye-candy and sounds as good too. The gameplay is very enjoyable even though it's not excatly the same classic Megaman action. A very underrated gem. Has some of the craziest 2D Graphics out there too.

And it has cut-scenes like this!

And yes I have played 1-6 so many times it's not even funny. 5 and 6 I play because they are Megaman games, but I really don't enjoy them as much as the four first games. Something about the bosses doesn't click with me, though Gravity man is great. The music is pretty lame too in those games.

I love collecting all the CDs in the game. I was going crazy trying to find them.

The funny thing about MMnB is that I stumbled upon this game purely by accident. It was like discovering the new world when I bought it. It totally blew my mind. When I saw the Super Fami cart in Chinatown, I was under the impression it was just MM7 in Japanese (Bass was in MM7 so I figured they just put him on the cover for that). Since I was desperately trying to buy the game, I went and settled for the Japanese version. It was only when I started the game that I realize I ended up with a mind-blowing discovery. It just makes this game so special to me.

I went back and played megaman 6-7-8 today (have them on the megaman anniversary collection thing on gcn). I can't stand ANY Sony-era megaman game. They all suck. 6 is awesome on the NES, then 7 and 8 are just blah. I don't know what it is, maybe it's the art style, and new control scheme, i dunno, they're just not as fun as the originals or the X1-3.

i played only the gameboy versions of mega man 1-5...loved them, but didnt play any mega man games since then

No, but I want to now. Which one should I start off with?

I only have a week left before I return to school so I'd like to play one or two of the best.
