• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Have you seen Titanfall (Xbox 360)?

I'm expecting the same sort of difference that you see in Battlefield 4 going from PS3 to PS4, if they manage a locked 30fps then they have done a good job.

Not ideal but I think the game running at a locked 30 will be fine. If they can fit all the AI, players, and Titans and managed a locked framerate then this game passes. Easily. If the shit dips down to 20's and lower then it's shit.

There are lot's of devs that know how to optimise and heavily maximise on Xbox 360 and to be honest. Titanfall doesn't look that great. I can see how the Xbox 360 could look very similar.
I guess....at the same time there arent devs with a lot of experience optimizing and maximizing X1. But are these really legit reasons to expect the games to look and perform similarly despite the power difference? Is there any precedence for this so far on cross gen games?

I don't see how the 360 version does not outsell the Xbone version.

The again anything is possible considering how great of a job ea and Microsoft are doing pretending this game does not exisist.

titanfall xbox one bundles
better performance on xbox one
advertising only on xbox one
no existing titanfall community on xbox 360 like cod

i dont see the x360 version outsell the xbox one. but if it does, this game will be a 5 millon+ seller

They're probably not providing review copies to anyone. As a few other posters have said, its either too similar looking to the Xbone version or it looks/runs like crap. Will be interesting to see, thats for sure.

Agreed, the 360 has been out for so long that devs are VERY familiar with it and know how to get every little bit of power out of it. This is gonna be interesting.

I will be jaw dripping shocked if this game looks and runs similar to the x1 version. It will either run well or look similar but not both. If it looks like the x1 version it will be a slideshow. Why people expect it to be similar when a system everyone knows is orders of magnitude more powerful still has issues running it is beyond me.

But but but... It's Source! /s

I expect it to run well enough, with noticeable frame drops, horrible texture quality, reduced background action and gunfire effects, and more compressed audio. Bluepoint is a skilled team however, so it's anyone's guess.

Sure they can do locked 30 but the graphics will be bad. I mean really bad compared to x1. There are times the x1 version dips sub 30. The game at times can get really hairy on screen.

Wait, this still isn't out?
Holy shit, I kept seeing this thread I supposed the game was out.

No pics and/or screenshots is not a good sign. It's either close to the Xbone version or extremelly worse.

What do you mean by that?

Had to correct for the sentence but it looks like it's going to be a watered-down version. Maybe only one titan per team one of time? I am just wondering if this is going to end up being something that's basically inspired by the Titanfall world but not really the same game.

I don't know.

lol at them calling it next-gen on the back of the box.
Looks like they just kept the Xbox One box as it was. Someone just didn't give a shit.

I doubt it

"The game will feature the same 6v6 gameplay, maps, modes, weapons and Burn Cards as the Xbox One and PC versions of the game."

i am wondering the same thing.

Respawn claimed Titanfall utilizes the cloud for some of its stuff... how does it work on 360?

I'm really curious if its just less frames lower resolution or if there's actual differences.

Seriously, I'm impressed they haven't released anything about this version. Like nothing.
It's even worse (never thought it was possible) than a bunch of awful Sony stealth first party releases (starhawk, puppeteer, sly 4).

As far as I'm aware the cloud is really just a big dedicated server.

nintendo does this occasionally too. i remember the second advance wars on DS was a sort of "if you can find it" type of game

They reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllyy don't want you to see Titanfall.

It's made everyone way more curious and interested for sure.

It either looks quite comparable to the XB1 version OR looks like complete shit. I can't imagine BluePoint producing something that looks like shit, though, but we'll see.

... at 600p/30fps!

That would still be pretty decent.

That'll probably be the case, I mean if you look at the CoD releases running on the Wii (where the power difference between platforms was bigger than that between 360 and One, I assume), they had half the framerate and much lower resolution. So yeah, that seems like a realistic target.

I was just about to say that ^. I would be completely shocked if it ran even similar to the One version. They have to keep a reason for people to upgrade to the one and show that there is actually a next-gen improvement, even if it could run it similarly. I expect it to be locked at 30FPS at the least, just to say that the One had "more power to work with."

I am still excited to play it next week though!

Gaming journalist have been talking about this same thing.

Oh, wait.

So I expect roughly 1024x600 and 30fps max as well.

If true, that's a real shame. This game was designed for that smooth 60fps gameplay and even the other versions are a mess.

It'll be a pretty good indicator of how much peeps are moving on from last gen (or not). We've gotten some signs of that with certain games selling more on PS4 & X1 despite being cross plat.

I doubt it.

Hype for Titanfall has dropped tremendously since pre-Xbone/PC launch.
Were it to release day and date, the 360 version would have outsold both other versions easily.

But now, when people are starting to realize this isn't the next COD and internet buzz is barely there anymore? I don't know.

Exactly the same. Any device connected to the internet can utilize "the cloud". All TitanFall uses it for is running servers, and I'm guessing the servers will be identical for both versions.

I think there's a middle ground where it'll look good for a 360 title, but won't really be visually comparable to the X1 version.

I expect the frame-rate to be 30 unlocked though, perhaps even managing to hit the high 30s/low 40s, but that's probably being too hopeful.

Does the Xbone version even have approaching a stable 60fps frame rate? I remember reading that it was all over the place, especially when a couple of mechs were involved. Did they improve it via patches?
