Had this happen in my 7th win of Arena run. One of the best moments I've had so far. I held onto Ragnaros for a good 5 or 6 top deck hands to draw the secret and avoid MC.

Ironically, I lost the 8th win to a hunter that had not one but two flares and removed counterspell and Kill command rag.

There's nothing better than neutralizing a Mind Control with Counterspell, especially since priests tend to hold it til the end, thus being their sole spell.

Blizzard sent me a Hearthstone survey, and some of this might hint at what we can expect in the future:

I would love achievements, Facebook integration and observer mode.

Man, just had 3 Fireballs in my hand and spell power on the board. Had to turn off the game in disgust.

After I won of course.

Warlock took a while for me to adapt to, but now I figured out if you have no cards in your hand by around the 4th turn, you're doing really well as warlock lol. It's all about drawing 2 cards a turn and playing everything in your hand every turn.

On another note, I'm finding the amount of games (in arena) that even make it to a 10th turn for a full pool of crystals to be becoming exceedingly less common.

Edit: I wonder what the record is for quick damage in the arena anyway. By the end of just my third turn I had already done 17 damage to my opponent, attacking for 3 on turn 2, and for 14 on turn 3 ( two 3/2 guys and a power overwhelming buff, and a 0 cost 4 damage spell), and still had 2 decent units on the board (a 3/2 and a 2/2 taunt).

Here is a good tip for beginners for deck construction. It is something that has helped me with mana curve for minions and spell to minion ratio. It is just a guideline.

Pick 10 spells/weapons
Pick 10 minions below 4 cost (or 5 cost)
Pick 10 minions above 4 cost (or 5 cost)

You can do a few tweaks like count spells that summon minions as minions. Again, just a guideline for a decent mana curve. Gonna have to judge which spell costs are worth it etc.

When RnG really screws you over and you end a great arena run because of it its hard not to loose yourselve.
Played against a really bad warrior. I have full board control and he has one card left. Suddenly he top decks one slam after the other and is full of cards and minions and wins the game.
He even managed to topdeck a owl right after my QA got buffed and before he could attack.
I listened to a interesting point on the Terminal 7 podcast, about why Magic and Hearthstone make people rage more then a game like Netrunner.
Why? Because the luck factor is much heavier in those games.

Disagree.

Should be 8-10 Spells / Removals
10-20 <3 Drops
Rest 4+

depends on class tho.

It is just a guideline... most spells cost less than 4 mana anyway and I even said you have to consider spell cost.

No guideline is going to be perfect nor should it be followed 100% of the time so I don't know why you're posting to say you disagree...

I'm fairly confident this is the best deck I've ever drafted. Lost only to the Mage mirror. Hidden underneath- Stormwind Champion x1, Fireblast x1. (Although the Druid "infinite pile of sweepers deck" could be close.)

This is what's really holding me back from getting excited about Hearthstone. Netrunner is so strategic with so many different elements that are interacting. Hearthstone just relies on that rng so much.

because 10 <4-5 creatures is WAY too low.^^

Why so butthurt pal?

10-20 <3 drop creatures and the rest 4+ (including 4). I fail to see how you come to the conclusion that we wrote the same thing.

wtf...

You just said 10-20 < 3 and the rest 4+ ------------ which means 10 <4-5 cost minions is within your RECOMMENDED guideline and yet contrary to the upper quote.

And I never said we said the same thing... ffs... just putting you on ignore before I get more of your petty insults.

10-20 1 Mana Drop, 2 Mana Drop or 3 Mana Drop
<10 Spells and the rest 4+ drops
That's potentially 20 =<3 drops and 10 4 drops. Equals 30 =<4 drops in comparison to your "10 <3-4 drops" and 10 4+ drops.

e.g.
8 Spells
16 <3 drops
6 4+ drops

Don't try to spin it your way. I don't know why you get so worked up over this anyway. We disagree. Build your deck however you want.
Pick 10 minions above 4 cost (or 5 cost)
That's the crucial part that is "I disagree" with. Again, it depends on the class tho. Some class can get mana early or carry a game into later stages of the mana curve to actually make use of so many high costing creatures.

Be my guest to ignore me. I honestly don't care. You get too easily worked up for no reason. It's a discussion board after all, and no "I state my opinion and it's the only statement that is true"-blog. Maybe a forum isn't the right place for you. I dunno

edit:
Got a nice pm from an unnamed member. *cough*
I think you're a fucking idiot. Nuff said.

[...]Man you're just too fucking dumb to deal with. Seriously, permanent ignore for you.
Like I said. Way too worked up. lmao

I'm doing very well with the Control Drakes deck http://www.managrind.com/?p=735 in constructed. It's fun to play a deck that feels well thought out. I did have to DE my only legendary (Baron) though..

Can anybody re post the 2-for-1 Rogue deck?

What league are you in? I've tried the deck quite a bit but I feel it's just way too slow. Playing your first minion on turn 3, or more commonly turn 4 while your opponent already has 2-3 on the board simply doesn't cut it and makes it almost impossible to regain board control.

You know the move that makes me rage quit games? Mana Wyrm into Coin into Mirror Image.

I'm just done if I see that pop on turn one. Nearly no way to recover, and even then, it wouldn't be till something like turn 4 at best by which point you've probably taken at least 10 damage.

S'pose you could pop an owl if you had one, but that's still not a good spot to be.

just took the survey, they had some cool ideas about spectator modes and recorded games

I strongly disagreed with paid character decks and additional slots but strongly agreed with new card, hero, and board models

Anyone know the official release date? Is it better than Magic the Gathering?

Is it better? No.

But it's free to play and emphasis on free. You really don't have to spend any money at all which is great.

MTGO is the biggest ripoff in the world. I really hope games like Hearthstone eat into their share a significant bit so they actually get real with their pricing.

MTGO's pricing is designed to protect the paper product.

The fact that is has no instants which you can play during the enemies turn, make it far more simple than MtG and imo inferior. But it's still very fun to play casually and you can basically play for free, or spend just little amounts of money...

OT:
I swear 2x Mind Control on turn 8 and 9 is so rage inducing .__.

By the sounds of it that will be going away soon. Surely priests will have nothing cheap to replace that.

Surely.

Agreed, secrets are very poor in comparison. The game is still evolving though and I am sure when they introduce new sets new rules can be introduced.

Can someone who knows Shaman in Arena better explain how I just 8-2'd with what I thought was a pile? I quickly realized Flametongue/Spirit Wolves were absurd, but I honestly thought this deck was pretty bad, and I'm not sure why this deck was so successful.

I agree, it's fun to play and easy to pick up. It's in beta for a reason tho, needs a bit of fine tuning and a bit more variety in cards, strategy and mechanisms. I'm sure there will be more effects added in at later stages of the game. Maybe even something you can play from your hand. Secrets for every class would also be a start.

Only problem is the 30 deck limit. That's kinda small to fit everything into.
