I don't like the Novice Engineer nerf. That is a basic card. Loot Hoarder is not.

The only neutral card draw new/unlucky players have now is Gnomish Engineer.

It's still a card draw for 2 mana? I don't see the huge nerf. It's less valuable having 1 less health, but before it was a little too much. Loot runner can be stopped from giving a card draw, the novice cannot. It trades with less things now, which is fine, and doesn't survive a hero power, which is also fine, given loot runner doesn't survive a hero power either. Now you can't novice > pass > buff (as no one would waste removal on a novice at 1/2) and draw a card and trade 3:1 with the novice.

Yeah, just think about it: For 2 mana you get the Paladin AND Warlock hero power without a draw back.

Fucking awful. Who the hell is going to have 9 cards in hands to perform that combo?

I never said it would be a great OTK. The second one does only require 7 and less mana so it could be performed earlier if the warrior's hp was already low.

And while I didn't post these to say "OMG warrior OTK bliz did a bad job", they do show that warriors still have the ability to generate a ton of damage from an empty field. It is just much more preventable and in line with the other's classes abilities to do damage from an empty field. I'm thinking something like thalnos, geo, 2x eviscerate, 2x sinister strike = 22 damage for rogue for example.

I do see worgen + inner rage + inner rage + charge = 18 damage being something people will try to set up since all 4 cards are usable separately in a warrior deck.

Just like Shiv, for 2 mana you get the Mage AND Warlock hero power without a drawback right?
I'm fine with the nerf, but Shiv is still terrible.

The most likely case will be more full Control shells that still do Gorehowl/Alexstraza in there and just drop the Charge entirely. Most the non-Alexstraza OTKs are just a bit too rough to get out there to really rely on them.

Edit: And I'd think Leeroy + Shadowstep + Cold Blood Leeroy would be a more apt Rogue combo. Toss in Eviscerate to make it 20 or 24 with an extra Cold Blood.

To be fair, a body is better than not a body, especially when we're talking about 1 point of damage floating around.
Poor Shiv

If you start looking at it like that, then Argent Squire is Paladin hero power and Hand of Protection for just 1 mana, and there's all sorts of shenanigans like that.

With how little silence there is in the game, I really doubt most people will waste it on a Loot Hoarder...

It's a good card from the basic set that is going to be less good. For players who mostly just have basic cards, the nerf hurts. What am I going to replace it with? I don't want a 1/1. That has no durability. I can play the card to draw a card and then it dies right away. It feels like I just traded 2 mana to dig through my deck 1/30 times faster.

I don't know. I would be super surprised if people still use it when given the choice between it and Loot Hoarder. And that just sucks as a mostly basic player I am just falling even further behind.

You really can't look at cards that way.

I wouldn't discount Novice Engineer entirely but Loot Hoarder is looking much more attractive.

I'll still play Novice Engineer most of the time though, especially for Rogues.

So I guess that explains why Mage is so OP. They get Fireball, which is 6 Flameblast activations (12 mana) for only 4 mana. That's a net gain of 8 mana!

Nerf it to the ground Blizzard.

How does it die though? If you play first and it takes a 1-drop with it you're ahead. Even if it delays your opponent from playing anything on their second turn (because they opt to use their hero power), that's still considered great by most people, as not playing a 2-drop is generally a bad move. I guess what I'm getting at is it most likely is still doing something for free early on, depending on what that something is, it can be ok to great.

You have to look at late game situations too. If your novice engineers / loot hoarders are drawn past turn 10-15, and you've used all your cards in hand (that you'd want to play on the board), Loot hoarder is a dead play, and the novice lets you cycle into something useful, like a 4-8 drop that can actually be a threat.

I guess...

My perspective is I have no other card draw to replace it with. So... suddenly I have a 1/1 instead of 1/2. The nerf hurts me.
Even the 1/1 divine shield minion that 99% of aggro decks play is going to clear it now and leave me with nothing :(

Based on the battle.net client I think we can expect the patch tomorrow, maybe? It's been my experience that whenever they announce changes we get them rather quick, which is in sharp contrast to WoW. Scheduled maintenance announced for tomm = patch tomm, if I were a betting man.

huh. and it's down for 6 hours?

I'm so close to just saying 'fuck this game'. Like the 5th or 6th Arena run in a row now where I only get 1 or 2 wins. Thought I had a great draft too. Turned out to not be I guess. Have no idea what works in Arena. And with several days of grinding between every attempt it's hard to get better at anything but constructed play.

Hope they rework the entry fee for Arena. Or at least give us 2-3 daily quests and maybe 1-2 weekly quests to go for.

Had a good arena day, refused to choose 2 of the most played arena classes in paladin or mage. Instead I first went with warrior (8-3, 220 gold for reward), then priest (6-3). Definitely seems some matches you are destined to lose, that combination of a terrible starting hand when your opponent has a great hand happens a solid once or twice in every run. Just realized how amazing shadow madness is, used it to great effect. Steal your loot hoarder, send it into a 3/2 and get the draw?? yes please. Also stole a golem with it, crazy good. 2/5 charger guy is seriously strong for priest, can keep healing it so it practically 3 for 1's. Fun times.

Patch should be interesting, I like most of the changes but nerfing warriors that bad is a very poor design decision. Can't keep nerfing everything, send a few buffs around. Goldshire footman needs some love.

Headcrack allows rogues the opportunity to spend 1 more mana than hunters' hero power to deal 2 damage a round. Also must be combo'd.

That is probably a legitimate issue with the spell tho, the only decent thing is that it is improved by spell power, I got hit for 5 with one once :p

Maintance at 5 A.M. eh?

THE END IS COMING!

I'm hoping it isn't the patch, I want to get Legendary first ;__; I need another day.

Edit: Well, one day to get to single digits so I'll take that at least. Damn, I really should've grinded yesterday :(

I think warriors will still be in a good spot. Warsong commander will be ineresting to see how it works precisely cause it seems like it is giving charge as a permanent buff to minions below 4 attack which will stay even if it is raised above 3 attack.

I had 6-0 start as hunter in arena.

In one game, I had my opponent at 12, with me at 28 with naught but a timber wolf and harvest golem in hand. he ends his turn with 5 minions on board to my 0 and I topdeck an unleash the hounds. I'm so sorry you had to go out like that, random arena guy.

So, with Unleash the Hounds at 2, is anyone looking forward to Leeroy + UTH on turn 6?

Good times.

I think we will see many painful combos.
Will be interesting to see if Hunter becomes competitve in constructed with that change.
Hunter Murlocs with Unleash + Buzzard as a card draw ;)

They will for sure be annoying to deal with in Arena now ..

There's still no reconnect feature? Instead they're doing balancing patches? FU Blizzard. Battlenet was down for 2 minutes and I received a loss. Last time my Defender of Argus misplaced 2 minions and I lost.

Can't wait for pyro nerf. mmmm

Still a beta man, can't expect full features quite yet, if they ever have a feature like that.

I don't know if there'll ever be a reconnect feature, I asked earlier in the thread about StarCraft II (which now is up to 1 expansion in as well), and no reconnect feature for SC2, a disconnect is an instant loss, and SC2 games can last probably 5x longer than Hearthstone games.

What exactly are they nerfing with the pyro? It's currently 8 mana, 10 damage right?

It's pretty nice when your quests overlap each other and complete on the same victory for a huge pile of gold... last night I had a ranked match win that netted me 150 gold in itself, completing the repeatable 3 win for 10g prize, the 7th win of a win 7 games for 100g daily, and completion of a kill 40 minions daily for 40g. A free arena entry from a single match. :)

I love playing Shaman in the Arena. My 4 Fire Elementals are really carrying me, despite the rest of my deck being fairly mediocre. I'm 5-0 at the moment.

Yeah, it's currently 8 mana for 10 damage, and they're changing it to 10 mana for 10 damage. You can read about the other changes here.

GARROSH YOU ARE NOT FIT TO RULE THE HORDE!

Probably my favourite emote so far

Also I saw a golden snapjaw last night, needless to say its the best golden ive seen so far

Reminds me of those old "3D" Jurassic Park cards that you got for buying Kellogs Corn Flakes (the sugar type).
