Ok every fking time I play arena I get off to a decent start, like 3-0, before running into like 3 rogues in a row and going 3-3. ffs

Wow, just got disconnected on my winning turn in arena... I guess I will get a loss instead and that will end that arena run.

holy shit you drafted a legendary on your first arena? what were theo ther chocies?
It seems to be random as to whether it gives you the chance to draft legendaries. I've seen quite a few matches where they never pop up. I think that might go for epics, too, but they're more common. When the choice does pop up, it will give you a pick between three different legendary cards.

Yeah, I know. Legendaries in arena are quite rare, I don't think I've ever witnessed/drafted two in a deck, but I was just wondering what the other 2 cards were. Usually if you get a dragon card the other two will be dragons too.

At least on Ebay Germany the Key prices seem to be coming down, but they are still at slightly over 100€. Not that I would jump on that anyway.

Damn it Blizzard! Just give a key so I can play!

Quoted for WHAT THE HELL, BLIZZARD?!?!?

It's actually been so long since the first wave and all the streams and videos that I'm losing hype for the game. By the time it finally releases, it'll probably be "okay, I'll play it whenever I get the chance".

The first wave was really a marketing push, considering how pretty much every major streamer and commenter got one. But you don't follow up that kind of push by doing absolutely nothing.

Pretty much I was hyped during the first couple of days of watching the streams, figured out keys were barely going out and impossible to get with stupid Facebook promotions I don't want to participate in. Last week or so, with GTA and WWHD plus all the games in October I forgot about the game until I saw this thread.

There have been multiple waves. We're all just unlucky :[

I just played rogue for the first time today and boy is it something alright

Luckily for me it was arena so I had access to cards I wouldnt have this early, I had 4 defias, 4 assassins blade, patient assassin, vanish and sprint along with 2 assassinate

Oh, did I forget to mention I had backstabs out of my ass (0 cost) with a Illidan(7/5) (Summons a 2/1 each card you play)

My goodness, I just want a key so bad. Blizzard, if you're reading this, I'd beta test the living daylights outta this game.

I don't even want to invest time into other card games knowing that once this gets released, I'll just be spending my energy on this CG.

/end emotional outburst.

Dear Blizzard.

I work heavy hours now, and my ability to play even short 4-7 hour rentals, much less MMOs and large single player epics has been destroyed.

Please let me into your game of wonder that I can spend less than 2 hours on nightly and still feel like I'm doing something meaningful.

I don't care that it's buggy and still in progress. My boredom will be the end of me otherwise.

It obviously means that development is gonna be rebooted.

Alternatively beta keys dropped in price too much so they cut supply for a while.

We totally understand that the community wants open beta, but the simple truth of the matter is that the game isn't quite ready for it yet. As you may have read in an earlier blog, we anticipated that we're going to have to rebalance some cards based on feedback in the closed beta, and that's certainly true. We still have the wipe ahead of us as well. So, there will still be some time between now and open beta.

Open beta will happen once we are ready for it so we can ensure the transition between closed to open beta will go as smoothly as possible for everyone.

Priests can be hilarious to play against late game

He managed to get my Ysera card by using thoughtsteal. Then I played my Ysera and he used mind control on it. After that he played Alexstrasza from his top deck. I probably would have won if I didn't have Ysera in my deck, but that card is just too much fun to use.

I think I may have found a bug. I rage quit the game after losing the 3rd game in an arena, but before checking my rewards. Next time I booted the game I had an unopened pack of cards in my inventory which I'm positive i didn't have, and still got the arena rewards which included another pack.

edit: Ah never mind , even though it showed the pack again it didn't give it to me a second time.

Somehow they messed up the marketing timing on this. The people I know who were interested in Hearthstone (didn't get into beta, watched a ton of streams a couple weeks back) have since moved on to the competition to satisfy their card game hype. From Solforge to Card Hunter and Planeswalkers 2014 - none of them would be playing these games if Hearthstone streams didn't get them hyped up for some card action. :lol

Yeah I am also playing Card Hunter and keeping an eye on Hex. If Gex gets it's hooks into me I doubt I'll take another look at Hearthstone.

Brian Kibler (first lead Dev on the WoW TCG) has some thoughts on the game. Specifically, he's worried about the reusable hero powers. http://t.co/wfDTMwxKAE
This was super interesting to read. I definitely am noticing something similar with how draft decks are turning out in the games I am watching.

Druid control mirror in the finals with the loser running a Ragnaros too early and paying for it.

Who were the winners though?

Its an interesting balance. I see people complain about Rogues in Arenas, but I see them get dominated in constructed, Druids apparently top-tier constructed right now.

Shamans keep druids in check though when people actually play shaman. Rogue is generally pretty good against shaman, and poor vs druid. Shamans dropped off recently because everyone went to druid to counter rogue.

That seems to be the big three in the meta right now and things *should* stabilize. We're still dealing with a very small player base, especially on the tourney side of things, so the meta is very much in flux.

The game will launch and everyone will download it and play it.

This is a closed beta that's an actual beta. Not a marketing tool.

It's funny how people who aren't in the beta (and upset about it) believe Blizzard will fail because they weren't given a key and are somehow "not as hype" now. Everyone saying this will download it when they can.

Kibler is totally spot on with this, and the problems with having reliable access to specific abilities are only going to get more noticeable as the card pool increases.

WOWTCG, a game which hearthstone heavily riffs off of, had problems with having viable aggressive decks for years due to the fragility of low cost drops as the game progressed, and that game actually had increasing the amount of per-turn resorces cost something to the player (crystal generation in Hearthstone is free). I think one thing that Kibler is going to have to keep in mind is that due to HS's design that you are going to be looking for a wider array of aggressive drops and what will make up an aggressive deck with respect to cost curve is going to look different from MTG.

What? This is a marketing tool 100%, the "beta" part is just a side consideration. You don't have giveaways and popular streamers in the game to drum up hype for a regular ass beta.
