Arena is so much fun. I think this is where I will spent most of my time in this game.
After getting destroyed by a shaman as a rogue, I got an nice win over a druid.

My rogue arena deck consist allmost only of lowcost attack and removal cards.

Might be a bad strategy. Time will tell :)
Going aggressive with cheap creatures seems to be the most solid Arena strategy. But you have to avoid x/1s.

That's even worse than not getting an email in the first place!

I have to admit I was pretty excited until I noticed there was no key. Then confused followed by anger. But at least they're looking into it, so it's not that bad if I get it tomorrow (soon midnight here so wouldn't be able to play much if I got the key now anyway).

Ugh, I just clicked on arena to see how much a game costed and didn't realise it would take me to the draft. I proceeded to get 0-3ed losing every match due to mind control.

You can always leave and come back to it later. It doesn't need to be done in one sitting. Too late now, but just saying you can leave and it saves where you were.

Edit: Beaten.

i accidentally clicked my arena button for the first time too.

you dont have to finish your draft, unfortunately (fortunately?)

Just had my first decent go at arena.

I was ahead 4-1, so I was already looking forward to what might come later in the rewards.
....
But then I lost two times in a row to a warrior.
Arena trolled me with a booster pack and 85 arcane dust reward.

Well after tons of research, game time, and overall jist of the game.

I think the game is still far away from being competitive.

Right now 90% of the games I have played are all priests, pallys, or shamans.

It's no coincidence, since all 3 of those classes are far and away better then every other one.

Board control is a huge part of this game, it's fast and engaging, but that leads to some really cheap cards like mind control which can single handedly win you a game at endgame (where 90%) of the games lead too.

Spell cards in general are extremely strong, Pallys have some insane cards like equality which costs 1 mana pool and destroys an entire field basically (1hp). Combine it with concecrate, and it's GG.

This game is crazy fun, but still lots of work 2 do.

Warriors, rogues, hunters all need big buffs, warlocks needs some tuning.

Also RNG plays much more into this game then skill, which is quite depressing, but expected since it's beta and there needs more cards.

Get me a key Yolanda! I would love for this to fill the TCG void. I'm confident that Blizz can get things balanced in time.

Gaiiiiiz.

I figure out how to win at Arena.

First you draft creatures.

Then you play creatures.

Next you attack with those creatures.

Finally you win!

The fact you rate Paladin and Shaman above Mage scares me tremendously.

Yep.

random topics from this page.

I think you can't make a deck that is going to be good in all situations. Blizzard running their tournament the way they are gets around this.

Shaman is good vs hunter decks. They can produce enough damage and stall out a turn with their 2 doge taunt summoners.

Mind Control is good but you have to play around it. Don't play anything you can't kill and keep board control. Play two 4 attack creatures or lower before their turn 8. They either play something you can kill or mind control for 8 and waste a turn while you get to play answers.

The game doesn't have enough cards to be a competitive game which is the problem right now.

Didn't win a Eurogamer one but got a Blizzard invite this evening instead, which is nice. This game is super fun, and I say this as someone who's really in to CCGs/LCGs and deckbuilding games. A fun addition to the genre, with some interesting stuff going on.

Found a pretty funny priest combo:

Shieldbearer (0/4 taunt) turn 1, then coin into divine spirit (2 mana double health) and inner fire (change attack to equal health) = 8/8 with taunt on turn 2

Pretty funny to get in Arena. Very susceptible to silence and shadow word: death, but otherwise pretty good

So I missed out on Modbot to Deeszan today and lo and behold I checked my email and found a beta key! Very happy right now, can't wait to play it after my T1-4 raiding tonight!

Lo and behold, Blizzard sent me a beta key too, and now that I'm already in it because of a thankful gaffer, I wanna do the same.

So.

Whoever quotes this post with a link to a post from you from this thread that's MORE THAN 2 WEEKS OLD and if you have more than FIVE posts in this thread, it's yours!

EDIT: Also this only goes to gaffers who don't have a key yet. No friends/family members/SO's/yadayada. If your friend/family member/SO fulfills the above requirements, tell them to post. :)

Ohhhh I love paying it forward hehe, I hope someone is being vigilant this very moment :P

My girlfriend wants to play as well. :-)

Sorry, I wanna make sure it goes to someone who's been waiting for a long time... hence the 2 week old post requirement. I'll make sure to edit my initial post that way. If your girlfriend fulfills those requirements, get her to post :P

Giveaway still open! :)

I only have 3 posts in this thread... if you don't have a beta you don't have much to talk about unless it's crying because you don't have one :(
and that's my three posts

good guy smiley90

preventing me from shooting more rounds

that was the whole intention of the 2 week rule haha.

OMG I feel so sorry for the guy I just fought in Arena LOL.

I had a mountain giant and a thoughtsteal in my starting hand. Was like ok that'll help me get him out fast, and I was going second too.

Kept the board clean with holy nova/shadow words, but he had a couple minions out. Played Mountain giant & divine spirit on turn 6, made him an 8/16. At this point he could have only hit the mountain giant for 12, which made me confident, because I had ANOTHER divine spirit in my hand, as well as an Inner Rage. So I could have made him an 8/32 and done done attack=health for a 32/32 and the 1hit-KO.

He then plays the 5/2 minion with charge and I go "fuck", because now he can kill the mountain giant. BUT he decides not to because he doesn't think about inner rage and another divine spirit. So he attacks me with all his creatures and brings me down to 2 health, while he's sitting at 30 health.

I go "well played" and play divine spirit & inner rage, hitting him for 32 and winning.

He was 99% sure he was gonna win that game :lol

damn priests
theyre too tanky/versatile

they need more squish to em, so its more like WoW.

*priests now start off with 25 hp.

BALANCED.

Has anyone run into a bug where a Paladin tries to use a Brewmaster return on one of the Silver Hand Recruits that Paladins summon? This is the second time someone has done this to me and I was close to winning and they throw this down, it bugs the game and never ends their turn.

Edit: Nevermind, it is a known bug and people are abusing it. Great.

So what happens? You just wait for someone to quit?

Lost my first match on the arena today thanks to a Druid with the most BS hand ever. First turn, I put a 2/1 minion. On his first turn, he uses Innervate and places a Demolisher. I think "okay, all I have to do is focus on it". Then on his second turn he uses the coin and brings ANOTHER Demolisher. From there on it was GG.

On my second match, I lost thanks to the unlikely scenario of my starting hand on the first 5 turns having 4+ cards, despite the fact my deck had about 60% 3- cards.

I managed to win the next 4 games, but then on the 7th game a Warrior managed to run me down with charge and my mid game minions didn't show up.

I feel bad for the Priest I played last night. He was at 25 life with me at 7. He was just starting to get board control when I Rockbiter'd my Doomhammer and Bloodlusted my 4 totems / winfuried 4/1.

Poor dood.

I still don't feel like I'm getting the hang of Arena. I usually feel pretty good about my card choices, like I'm making the best out of what I have, but I still haven't gone more than 4-3. I've gone 1-3, 2-3, 2-3, 4-3 and am sitting at 3-2 right now.
