I just can't win anything in Arena. I had three tickets today and went a collective 2-9. I try to draft according to some tip websites and even then I just can't catch a break. Is there a comprehensive write up I can check out? I just feel like its not bad luck but I'm doing something wrong.
You probably already know this one, but Vivafringe's is still the best arena guide I've seen.

I just realized how great Redemption+Cairne is. I will start running that in my paladin deck (since I have Cairne but never find a way to use it on my decks).

So I have this really weird glitch with Arena. I dc'd in my 3rd match and came back to a key to complete it which I clicked for the reward.

Now any time I go to start a new Arena it just gives me the key and nothing else. Has anyone had this or know a way to resolve it?

Is there a way to get beta keys still?

I wanted to play game and so did my friend but I didn't even know this game existed till I got recommendation.

I guess I am late to this though , is Open Beta even close to happening?

Yeah I love it when you find something out like that. My favourite today was a Druid arena run with an Illidan Stormrage comboed with some cheap cards and Heart of the Forest (whataver it's called the ones that give minions a 2/2 deathrattle)

Ugh. I've been patiently waiting for my invite for a while now. I opted in months ago, or at least I thought so. I checked my battle.net beta preferences and Hearthstone was not checked =[ I must have not saved my preferences or something. Is there any hope of getting in this late? If anyone has a spare code, I'd greatly appreciate it.

edit:

Thanks to Hx2600, I have a key. You rock.

That matchup is super rough for Druids.

When I played druid today I was beating a lot of mages just cause of heals and most of my heals were from neutral minions. That and armor. I think druid vs mage is a tough match up for mages just cause of abilities with bite giving 4 armor, then the 3cc healer heals 3 hp, add in hero power, and heals from ancient if necessary (I usually choose 2 cards tho)... it can get pretty rough for the mage.

To top it off I kept buffing my minions with +4hp and taunt. Acolyte with 1/7 hp is pretty good.

I'm almost certain now that healing is the bane of mages and neutrals are sufficient. I still don't think they are completely balanced but my opinion shifted after today.

That whip attack sound makes Harrison Jones the best legendary. People who disagree are wrong.

You can carry on now.

Mages be making me rage :( i cant see the counterplay to perma freeze, spell damage and flamestrike.

I use neutral healing minions. Dark scale healer to counter blizzard damage, it also survives flamestrike. This assumes your minions survive blizzard so you need minions with at least 3 hp. After flamestrike, you need to drop 1-2 more minions. Always need to keep some in reserve. If he flamestrikes again, just play minions with more than 2 hp so they can survive blizzard, but this time around you really need 4 hp because it needs to survive blizzard and 1 damage firebolts. If at any time he uses a fireball to remove a minion, that is a good sign because it says he is low on lower cost spells or perhaps aoes. But don't jump the gun and summon more than 2-3 minions on the field at a time unless you are low hp and coming into pyroblast range anyway.

Use neutral heals on your minions to keep out of 1 hp range. And neutral heals on yourself to keep yourself above kill range. 12 minimum. Count his frost bolts and fireballs used and adjust expectations accordingly. But you're probably smart prioritizing minions over your own hp if you're above 16. Definitely if you're above 20. You can't always assume the worst but you can assume he has something.

Heals are your friend vs mages. They are also pretty good vs every other class, but neutral minions seem especially suited for dealing with mages.

I hope this helps some. I use the 3cc heal minion and the 5cc minion. Those are pretty good for their cost and their stats don't suck either. I also make use of stranglethorn tiger and that 7/5 7cc stealth assassin. Stealth minions with >4 hp, survives flamestrike, delivers a punch, then you heal with a neutral healing minion. Sweet.

1 health mage

double secret immunity to death when i have 20 dmg on board

into double bizzard

Just so he could stall for 10 damage, 7 then 3

What is that, what can you possibly do against that? Other than counterspell maybe

My mind is just...

In constructed, there's a few ways of dealing with it. In Arena? Nothing.

Ive just never witness so many times a game being decided on the basis that a champion can stall till he gets the right cards. I mean shouldnt the game be about some element of outplaying your opponent?

I know im just salty, but this is anti fun

Lock dropped 4 blood imps in an arena against me... So much RNG to arena drafts, please put a cap on the number of copies, 4 blood imps or 5 true silvers is just dumb. Meanwhile in my draft I had the chance to draft 2 lights justice!

And wow, just got hit by that card overlapping glitch, almost cost me the game. Why isn't this fixed immediately? If it takes them a whole month to fix that, ugh.

I think mage is going to be changed next patch somehow. It will take a while though seeing as how the changes introduced last patch were basically stuff that was needed a month ago, not so much now.

A card like flare would be good for other classes. I also think pyro should get the MC treatment. Cone of cold + blizzard might be a bit too strong too.

Assuming you have 3 minions on the field chances are good you are within blizzard range anyway.

After blizzard, use dark scale healer... then the 2 damage is reversed.

This is my deck atm

Nothing with less than 3 hp, except for faerie dragon :D

Silence one of the frozen minions so they can attack maybe?

Mages be making me rage :( i cant see the counterplay to perma freeze, spell damage and flamestrike.

I'm fed up with them, I've stopped playing ranked and if I see a mage in casual I just quit. Sick and tired of getting them down to 3-4 health, having a board full of minions that get frozen and blocked for 3-4 turns until he pulls fireballs and pyro's.

I can 50/50 them with my priest, but nearly anything else and I'm screwed.

I just hope it isn't like WoW where they had a season favourite that pulled the best DPS and was considered a faceroll in Arena. Then the next big patch they'd nerf it to the point of comedy.

Man, people are constructing their decks just to fight mages now. This is madness.

There will always be one class that is "overpowered". You nerf it slightly and then you notice another class is "overpowered" because the original class was the only thing keeping them in check.

We've gone from nerf Rogues, to nerf priests, to nerf Mages. The next one will either be Warlock or Paladin ;)

Just try and keep a balanced deck Mages aren't too problematic. Every opponent won't be a Mage you know.

They will change mages, they pretty much have to. This is pretty much the same exact scenario as the old Unleash the Hounds. Clear the board until you have all the cards you need.

It's just difficult to say what they'll change. Shadow Word: Death wasn't always the same card, right? I have a feeling they're remove / change blizzard because there is already Cone of Cold and Frost Nova. They already have Arcane Explosion and Flame Strike for board clearing anyway.

Sucks though, I was really hoping that this wouldn't flip around like WoW on terms of balance but I guess you don't have a choice.

So guys, I just got a golden Argent Commander from a pack. Should I D/E it for 800 dust or keep it? It does look pretty cool but all that dust is tempting.

Just crushed 2 mages in a row, coin faerie dragon on turn 1 really messes them up. If you can get a great early game, you got them. They start wasting fireballs on your 4/4's and such, but yeah, gotta have some luck on your side. Around turn 7 I try not to have more than 2 minions out. If they get an "ideal" stall/freeze draw yeah your done every time, but there's still a shot, don't give up!!

oops, forgot the dust bonus :/
yeah DE that shizz

^ because they changed argent commander you can dust it for the amount it costs.

DE it. Make 2 normal argent commanders... still enjoy 600 dust... or just save all 800 dust and wait to get free ACs.

Dunno what it is about warrior in this game but I just suck against him. Mentioned it a while ago and I'm still having trouble.

I am terrible though, so that would explain it.

Just got into the beta after being sent a code by blizz, and yikes, it's like jumping into a deep end without knowing how to swim. :p

Alright guys so I decided to go ahead and D/E the golden Argent Commander I just got to craft two Pyroblasts. Now all I need is Antonidas and my mage set is complete.

So with the Twisting Nether I got in the same pack that adds up to 3 epics for one pack :D

please understand

You've gone to the darkside... Every one you play against will likely be saying curse words at their computer every time you play anything. I know I cuss out mages like crazy even when I beat them lol

after playing 4 mages in a row in ranked and losing because of an argus bug, I wish they'll patch this game soon.

Value Town spent like 20 min out of 30 asking questions about ways to nerf mages to one of the lead designer, I really hope he got the god damn message

Just play druid was basically what the lead said.

I got the Argus bug too, clearly dropped it between two minions and it dropped the card on the side. I can't say it necessarily cost me the game, but that should not be happening.

If you want to beat Warriors or Paladins, just carry two Acidic Swamp Oozes in any deck and drop them when they pull a Fiery War Axe, Gorehowl, or Sword of Justice. Those weapons are just ridiculously good.

One workaround for this is that if you notice that your minions are "dancing" then you just place the defender of argus in the top right corner of the screen and it'll place it normally in the middle.

It's a weird workaround, but it has to do with something about how you see it vs. how the server sees your card placements.

There is a video on this, because I know the explanation doesn't really make sense, but I can't seem to find it right now. I'm sure someone has it and will be able to link it.

Mages wouldn't be nearly as bad if there were "spell taunt" cards, as suggested earlier. That and/or freezes preventing all hero powers, though I think freeze is exclusive to Mages, so maybe not...

That said I'm primarily running a Mage deck in constructed

Actually, I had 1 minion, I dropped Shattered sun cleric top buff it and then dropped argus in between them, but it looks like the buffing animation canceled the argus taunt on the minion that was receiving the buff... weird stuff

I know man, and it pissed me off... "well yeah this class is OP, look just play THIS deck to counter it so we don't have to actually nerf them pls"
