Heavy Rain: pics, renders, artworks and numbers

Yeah, and they arent even in the game.

Thats not necessarily a good thing, i was looking forward to playing that scenario. Dont know why they did that.

They needed to show people how the game would play but didn't want to give away any major story elements. So now they can move onto showing vague story trailers.

No one has managed to capture soulful eyes like Naughty Dog.

This game looks phenom but her eyes are souless.

I think Alyx Vance disagrees with you.

The face with the top of the head missing is unbelievable, that surely cannot be in game graphical quality.
Well...kinda? Typically, extremely high-resolution models like this--whether modeled or, as this was, scanned in--are merely the basis for the lower-poly in-game model. However, the high-quality version is often developed into the normal maps for the model. (Since they're grayscale/8-bit, extremely high-res normal maps don't require much texture memory.) That way, even though the polys aren't there anymore, light and shadow seem to show all the myriad original tiny bumps and divots, fooling you into thinking it's more detailed than it is.

lol why are we still glamorizing over some of these pics? Weve seen these same ones for now 3 months and counting. lol

That sort of confused me as well. Some of these are new I guess, but I was almost sure that some (like the motorcycle picture or the playground picture) have been on here for months at least. I am trying to choose my words carefully since I'm not sure if Heavy Rain is semi-sacred here (:D), but I think it's funny there's a weird Duke Nukem Forever-ish vibe, like it's a game that always has publicity stuff but never (yet?) gameplay.

You haven't been keeping up. They have shown gameplay.

they've shown 20 minutes of gameplay
plus divulged loads of details about the games development
plus artwork + renders
as well as a few different sets of screenshots, and a trailer.

Outside of details about the story, we know quite a bit about how the game works. (Which is what QD wanted)

Nothing like DNF :P

i just started playing indigo prophecy a couple of days ago (really lttp) - mostly because i am really impressed so far with what im seeing with Heavy Rain and i wanted to check out their last game. oh man, my hype and anticipation just doubled. i am loving indigo prophecy and i cant wait to play some more.

Actually, those three are "matte paintings done for the official website The Twilight Zone(tm) Tower of Terror(tm)".

Actually... you're totally right!!!

OK, let me rephrase my previous post:

"OMG even the artists are so so good in HR."

There. :D

Still, all the artwork I've seen has been awesome, whether it's that storyboard black and white style or the concept art.

I for one welcome Sillywood 2.0. At least this time we won't have our stilted dialog delivered by poorly encoded FMV actors!

Calling it gameplay is being rather generous.

whoa, can't imagine the backlash this game may get by the media if that sex scene is really rape scene.

You mean non-gaming media right? Because I think if this game turns out the way it's looking like it is, it's going to be huge with the gaming press--rape or no rape.

I don't think there will be too much of a backlash if the rape is in context and is non-interactive (movies have been showing hat for years), or even if it was interactive and you are in the role of the victim (that could actually allow the game to handle to subject in a unique way). I think the media would go crazy if as player you were able (or were required) to rape someone.

well the woman is holding a knife, so if it were a scene from the game, i'd imagine we'd be controling the woman (fighting him off)

either that, or she's secretly about to stab him (not a rape scene), heh

Yeah I think that is the more likely explanation, I don't know many rapists that would take the time to undress themselves and their victim either? (not that I know any rapists)

This answer is correct. Valve did an amazing job with their human models for the time. Even plain Half Life 2 models are still better than most modern AAA games.

Halo 3, I'm looking at you and your boxheaded characters..
