Yeah, copy cats wouldn't be as enjoyable, but variations on this sort of interactive novel genre with a semi-choose your own adventure feel would be welcomed. Just not sure who is going to try to pull that off.
 
I'd really love to see some sort of master collaboration series of download things using this engine, or a package game with a number of them.

My patience for long games disappears over time, a collection of maybe six of three/four hour shorts written and directed by a number of people, you could have Kojima, Ueda, Cage, etc all have their own completely independent works on there. That'd be really great to see.

today on gaf i learned that all games share development conditions and costs and that tie ratios can sway the creditors coming to collect your favourite couch.
 
One of the most over-rated games by the PS3 user base. I'm surprised it sold that much, although I must admit I was one of the many people that bit the bait and bought it day one.

I personally loved the game and I'm glad it's selling well and hopefully it will sell some more until the end of year. And by selling more we should get even better next game! Can't wait!

Congratulations to Quantic Dream and Sony. I loved Heavy Rain and hope they make more games in the same style.

Wow! I'm guessing it'll be a DLC patch that'll add a Move control option. This will make the game even better for people who don't normally play games, people who already took so well to the game. :)

It's so great to see this game cracking a million. Anyone can appreciate this game, whether they play games or not, which means even the suits at Sony who don't play games will see the appeal, and that plus dollar signs in their eyes means MORE games like Heavy Rain. :)

Oh, and whoever suggested a collection of shorts in this gameplay style from creators like Kojima, Ueda, etc, is a genius. :)

so much stealth! here's the difference: too human was a rubbish game that, despite dyak's artistic pretentions, was still fundamentally an action game of the sort we're all far too familiar with. it wasn't at all novel or risk taking and, if it had been done well, belonged to a genre of games that can expect to sell almost too well off the back of familiar action game mechanics coupled with the sort of hype you get from being one of those increasingly rare 360 exclusives. the fact that it sold 700k off x install base alone isn't as directly relevant to sales as is the hype the game had pre release. a lthough david cage was pretty keen on heavy rain (a little over enthusiastic, true) the general perception was that the game would flop pretty hard. instead it has done quite well. outside of the wonderful world of salesage it has been succesful review wise and - hey! - it's actually a good game.

there's a tragic irony when obvious fanboys drop sarcastic comments about getting chips installed...

They're both psychological thrillers with a big focus on the storytelling and plot element. I would put them in the same category. Shattered Memories isn't really about the scary stuff at all, actually.

I agree with you on the merits of Heavy Rain over Too Human, but didn't you make an "obvious fanboy" comment when you noted "one of those increasingly rare 360 exclusives?"

my sentence was what linguists call "logically open"; but in the larger semantic context of the paragraph (and the subject matter) it was closed. you're being facetious/trying to be witty and pretending that the statement "outside of the world of salesage it has done quite well review wise" couls mean that the game was assessed "review wise" within "the world of salesage". of course this doesn't happen becase - hey! (again) - salesage doesn't review games. judging by your comment you seem to understand this much. ergo, even you should understand that that branch of the logically open sentence was in fact closed by semantic implication. so what my sentence reffered to was the performance of the game as a whole - "outside the world of salesage", break (no, you do not need a comma for a logical break), "the world has done quite well review wise". so the world has done quite well outside of sales, and one of the arenas it has done well in is the review arena.

To be fair, EVERYONE thought it was going to bomb. It seemed too niche. Although, its success is understandable, I did not expect that audience to be on the PS3.

When its all said and done, this game should reach 2M LTD (with re-releases).
 
That's nice for Quantic Dreams.

Unfortunately, this game that relies heavily on its storyline probably has the worst one I have ever seen. I will not be a returning customer.
 
Awesome.

While the game had some problems it was a great game, and a crazy genre/gameplay to fight with a userbase not used to this type of games so I think is a huge achievement for Quantic Dream.
