IGN:

As impressed as I was with PlayStation-exclusive titles at this year’s Gamescom like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Resogun, Infamous: Second Son, and Metrico, Arrowhead Studios’ Helldivers is a game that stood out to me simply because I didn’t see anything like it coming. It’s not a pretty game by any stretch of the imagination. It doesn’t try to tell much of a story, either. What it does do is create a feeling of dread and hopelessness, and yet it makes you want to come back for more.

Of course, “dread and hopelessness” should be put into context, because Helldivers isn’t a scary game, it’s just really, really difficult. It beats you mercilessly; it makes you feel like you can’t complete a single mission. And I had a lot of fun playing it.

GameInformer:

Our Gamescom demo dropped us onto a desert filled alien planet devoid of plant life but teaming with Starship Troopers-like bugs. My goal was to demolish a couple of alien nests and activate some oil drilling machines, but neither task was as easy as it sounds. The bugs swarm in from all sides and you have to make good use of your arsenal of weapons. Thankfully, Helldiver's list of perk abilities, such as ammo resupplies drops, deployable turrets, and aerial strikes, assist in making short work of these bugs. However, in order to activate these abilities players have to tap a button and then input a series of a D-pad combos; it's somewhat reminiscent of classic 8-Bit game codes.

Game is sounding pretty awesome, love a good challange, and been itching for a few good top down shooters on Vita. Cant wait to see more since I liked Magicka allot.

Oh wow, that does sound awesome. The trailer had my interest. From what I'm reading, I can't wait to play it now. I hope it's a long game though. I would hate to think it's short.

I'll be all over this game. I'm hoping that it supports local co-op. I can see me and my brother playing this for hours on end.

Game to make me throw my DS4 down in anger? Let's do it.

make sure that you don't accidentally throw down your vita. That would be horrible.

Love that it uses a system somewhat similar to Magicka's spells. Gotta remember the right combinations under pressure. Should be tough but fun.

Some of those PS4 indy games have an insane IQ, i love that. Not only the rez but the nice textures and light, everything seems just like it should be.

If this is anything like Magicka with it's systems then it will be incredibly fun.

Arrowhead knows what they're doing.

For a system with "no games" my Vita looks like it is going to see alot of use in the next year! :D

I'm curious about which system has no games now. Is this a PS4 game made mobile or is it a mobile game on the PS4. This is an important question so I know which system is only getting ports. I can't have fun with the game if I can't point and laugh at one of these systems for being shitty.

This basically looks like someone taking the halfhearted effort Valve/the mod team did with Alien Swarm and making a significant game out of it.

Game difficulty should never be achieved by making input combinations more difficult to access, that sucks.

In the videos shown, as soon as you press the L button to bring up the code inputs you've equipped, it shows you what to press and lights up as you press the correct directions. There's absolutely nothing cryptic, inaccessible or dexterously difficult about it so far. The rest of the gameplay is move, point and fire. Difficulty will be had in being outnumbered and outmatched in a semi-roguelike game of endurance.

Helldivers yeah!

Looks amazing. Love the smaller games on the way to PS4. This last week I've been trying to get into big games in my back log. Dead Rising 2, Saints Row and Call of Juarez GS: And I just can't find the motivation.

GTAV though.. Don' let me down!

It's Magicka with space marines. The entire point of Magicka, who's studio is making this I believe, was to experiment and find interesting combinations to schwack enemies... or troll the shit out of your friends.
