Helldivers |OT| Everybody Fights, Nobody Quits.

Big fan of that little SMG. Good RoF, especially against cyborgs.

Also, cannot get over how terrific the sound design is in this game. As folks have mentioned, that subtle change in the gun rapport as it nears empty? Brilliant. Even just trudging about on swamp worlds solo...really makes you feel like you're in the deep end.

I wonder if the influence/sector clearing speed are meeting the devs' expectations. Must be interesting to design something like that. What happens when we hit a homeworld?

EDIT: As an aside, this is truly my spiritual sequel to Killzone: Liberation. Both measured, tactical isometric masterpieces.

Do our commendations ever get replenished? We start out with 10, and I want to commend every GAFfer I play with, but I don't want to use them all up.

Re-Posting for new page.

I'm in!

I love this game.

Played some more missions. Yeah this is going to be hard without a headset, and for the love of god I can't find the shitty thing I got with my PS4.

Some tips: a twice-upgraded UAV strategem allows you to spot samples if you check the map, so always spawn in furthest away from the objectives and collect those samples!!

If you're on fire, taking cover removes the fire and stops the DOT.

Exosuit users for the love of god please watch where you're stepping when the battle is getting intense. Played with one guy who killed the entire team just moving around and stepping on us.

Don't get bogged down when you're in the middle of nowhere. Just walk towards the objective and kill everything in your way. Getting bogged down is a good way of wasting ammo and eventually getting killed.

For the love of god please don't throw assault strategems when you're behind everyone.

Sorry Dhruv, just finishing up for the evening.

Downed a Level 8 Cyborg 3-parter to earn the Railgun Orbital Strike with Liquid_015, iWinOften, and one more I'm forgetting. Level 8 Cyborgs are no joke, but the Recoilless Rifle is civilization!

I tried joining a game with a friend but I couldn't see anyone online :-\

I love the game, but man does it have some crippling bugs/issues.

I've been struggling with an in-game friends list that works off and on (mostly off) and now I was careless enough to fall victim to the Dualshock 4 disconnect progression reset bug I already knew existed. So now I'm back to level 1, from 14.

As far as I know this happens when you disconnect your DS4 in the middle of a mission. Maybe only when someone else is hosting.

I have the opposite issue , I can't see any of my friends online and I know they are playing. Global matchmaking works fine.

Had such a blast with this last night. Surprisingly all the people I jumped in online with were competent players and didn't come across any trolling.

It reminded me of Journey where using visual cues to "speak" to one another Like spinning you character to communicate and managing to get into a formation without any of us using microphones. Happened in a few matches to be fair which really surprised me. Thought playing online with randomers was going to end up in disaster.

Lucky you. Me and Wrynnax got stuck with a pair of anchor weights for a while. Constantly lagging behind as we tried to push forward to the next objective. Two guys way at the back, picking useless fights and dying repeatedly, while we were both at the front, stuck at the edge of the screen, going "move, move, move, move, move, MOVE, MOVE, MOVE..."

It was good fun! The last person was Rammel! Lets do it again! Hit me up!

Is it possible to get any enjoyment out of this in singleplayer? Not sure if I jump if multiplayer is the sole attraction.

Its not so bad, you get revived when you die in singleplayer, and more objectives you complete, the more revives you get.

Upto about difficulty 5 is pretty breezy, imo.

I do not gain anything from leveling up - right?

Or will I ever be able to trivialize content by over leveling?

Trying out the Vita version right now and while playing solo it seems to work pretty good. Im not noticing any drops in frame rate or other problems. The swipe to throw grenades and reload is not that bad. But the map kinda covers your screen everytime you pop it up, and i tend to do that a lot to find all my samples and stuff.

You sample whore! ;)

Levelling just gives you access to more strategems, weapons, perks and some clothes.

Levelling also gives you one research point, but you can just farm samples for those.

You're still going to die a lot if you or your teammates don't know what you're doing, let alone the unlucky accidentals you can get into.

I once got killed as the first player to spawn in by the last player's spawn pod. No achievement for that sadly.

This is the impression I got from playing this morning.

This means this game is not for me - too bad :/

They need to change their range in which the R2 needs to be preesed to fire certein weapons, i can not use any auto rifles, smg or hmg. It sucks as it is the first game i had the problem with, mind i don't have gta5. I will not get a new DS4 just to play that game , will stuck to shotguns then lol.

Glad they have the report/commend option, makes it a little less annoying when someone team kills everyone as the shuttle lands for extraction when you can report them for it.

Got to play a few planets worth with multiple full groups of 4, fun times. Even if we started a mission with only 2 or 3 people, placing the SOS beacon filled up the roster to the full 4 without fail. Had a lot of fun playing. Also, definitely killed myself by running around fighting after calling in a resupply, and then moving back underneath the landing area. Pretty embarrassing when you are in a group!

Felt equal parts shame and creator of further heroism when I called down a revival for a fallen comrade as the shuttle landed. Realised the shuttle doesn't wait when I boarded, just as said comrade clambered out of his drop-pod.

He was left standing on an alien world, as bugs came skittering in from all sides.

I'd like to imagine he's still there, on that swampy rock, standing proud next to abandoned turrets and continuing to fight for democracy and Super Earth.

Godspeed, Helldiver.

This game sure brings up that kind of moments.

Like the time our group was setting a bomb to destroy bug nests in some forsaken backwoods swamp planet. We were under assult from all directions, but we held fast and got the bomb ready. There was a moment's pause in the attacks and our bomb guy went in to activate. Just as the countdown started, the onslaught began again and this time it was worse than ever before. We tried to get clear from the blast zone but the bugs cut our only escape route. We were surrounded. As I crawled away from their claws with my lifeblood mixing with the swamp water I saw a flash of white light.

Mission accomplished.

Yesterday i killed my mate accidently in the last possible second with a grenade (shuttle was allready on ground). tried to revive him so we get all onboard and didnt know the shuttle will not wait.
so with a single nade I managed to deny us 2 of 3 stars (death count and all onbaord)..

game is awesome!

If you guys know what you're doing you can get one guy to suicide and someone else call in a support strategem, then detonate the nuke just before the drop pod lands.

He'll appear admist total destruction, ready to call in more helldivers.

Caved and bought this after all the good impressions. Downloading at home now, can't wait for tonight :D

Added myself to the EU spreadsheet but happy to play with gaffers from all over

Same here, can't see anyone online but global match making works fine. Tired DMZing my PS4, nat type is open nothing seems to work

Hey guys... only played for a bit but I really love it. A few questions I was hoping some of you could answer....

- What is the max level?
- I do not understand how influence works... the community as a whole contributes to it by finishing missions, then once influence is maxed we can attack the alien home planet?
- Is there more custom armor, cloaks and gear that gets unlocked/looted as you progress?
- Does the game run at 60FPS? It seems like it....

Max level seems to be 25 from the achievement list.

Not sure about max influence. Maybe special events will happen.

You unlock visual customisations (helm, armour, cloak) as you level up, as well as weapons and strategems. No looting afaik

It sure looks 60fps to me.

Added myself to the Europe list, PSN: Dannepfanne

Do you get any colour customization for your clothing later on? I'm level 10 now and everyone around my level range looks kinda the same...

Played last night all solo. I could not get matchmaking to work at all, added some GAFDIVERS but I think they were all offline. Every time I tried to join a public match it said it was full or gave some error. My game is always public, I wonder why no one joins randomly? I am doing the 4-6 level stuff that a lot of people are in the range for. Just seems odd. Matchmaking worked much better launch night than it did last night.

Played for an hour with expel, had a blast, but we mistakenly used the SOS strategem which made 2 random people join our game. One of them killed us all right before the ship arrived.
We decided to remake the room, but couldn't join each other afterwards, even after resetting the game. :(

I can't get anyone into my games either. I found a good host and played a few hours on their game though.

Things get crazy at lvl 8 difficulty (
tank bugs holy shit
). I can't imagine what lvl 12 is :o

Yeah, got so fed up i shot them to make them move. Did not kill them, just some not so friendly encouragment:-)
Tonight some more?

I don't understand the progression in this game, me and my buddy went to the bug side and we lost all progression from the cyborg side?

Or do planets always reset, what's going on?
