Helldivers |OT| Everybody Fights, Nobody Quits.

I get the worst bugs.

I couldn't exit the APC and was stuck inside, the APC actually blew up, but I didn't die. I became invulnerable but couldn't move, so I had to quit the session.

Not sure if that last second commend was him being a bro or him trying to kick me but pressing the wrong button

Also demonstrating the power of the railgun+stun, as well as the lack of effectiveness of shotguns on armoured units late game.

first Shotgun for patrols and Rail Gun for stunning tanks and killing stronger enemies. probably the best combination of primary weapons that I can think of right now.

people use the turrets in a wrong way. you need to throw it at least 400 meters from you. thats what i do. and i never get friendly kills.
people should stop picking turrets altogether, there are way better and more useful stratagems.

if you take turrets for defending a position, like the shuttle landing zone, exosuit or tesla tower are much much better. I can understand that not many people have the tesla tower but pretty much everyone should have the exo.

Listening to that, while staring at this, I'm reliving most of my greatest HELLDIVER moments...

Okay, I don't know if I'm just being stupid (I hope not) or there's something wrong with my game. I reached Level 18 today and unlocked the AR-20L Justice. However, it does not appear on the available primary weapons when I'm about to start a mission. I go to my Armory and it's already unlocked there. Heck, I've already maxed it out! Still, it does not appear anywhere when I'm about to start a mission.

Any help, please? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Please ignore. I didn't kno that I can actually click right and left on the D-Pad when choosing weapons. Found it!

So I tired some lvl 10 solo missions.... They are way much easer that in a group!

Using the distraction becon and running like a mad mad I was able to do it as seen on those Russian videos.

I agree with this. I already have the trophies for completing a level 10 or higher mission without dying and finishing a level 8 or higher mission without getting hurt by running them solo. I really enjoy the amount of stealth and preparation that goes into this way of playing.

Most people like to camp way too much. Just toss those distraction becons and run.

If you drop a distract beacon in a group of enemies and run, I'm pretty sure the enemies will follow you, but what about other enemies? Will they still go to the beacon? So like you can just pull the few that followed you away to kill then you're home free again?

If you are in the line of sight of enemies and have been noticed when you throw the beacon, they will follow you rather than go to the beacon. The beacon will still draw in off screen patrols, provided they are in the beacon's radius. Those patrols will ignore you.

I dont know, maybe I need to upgrade the distract beacon more (currently level 2) but seems like everytime I put it down in a large group of adds, it gets taken out within a matter of seconds :(

You're not supposed to throw it when you have already been spotted. It's more of a preemptive move. You throw it to get patrols to stay away from an area you want to go to.

How do you join a friend on their ship? I go to the friends list ingame and can see that he is on the ship. But when I press X nothing happens.

You might want to add the matchmaking problems to the OP as that is currently the biggest problem with the game.

I got three friends to buy the game, but because the game is broken, we cannot play together at all.

I would advise against buying the game in its current state.

It's fun when it works, but we spent hours yesterday to no avail to get it to work.

it happened to me, I got all my friends and I to hard restart our ps4's

Anyone want to form a trophy hunting group at some point? A lot of them require 4 people and I don't think it'd be easy to get 4 randoms on board with attempting some of the tougher trophies. I usually don't hunt trophies but these seem like some fun challenges to try out as opposed to collect-a-thons. Thinking this Friday night (EST) since one of them is 4 people in an APC on a Friday.

I disagree. It's had a few bugs, but my friends and I have had a blast playing and it's easily one of the best sub $20 games I've purchased, bugs and all.

The devs have been pretty responsive about the bugs and a patch is coming VERY soon apparently.

If you use the SMG, you can use it while carrying the black box.

Edit- since a lot of posts are from GAFfers new to the Helldivers thread:

Reposting some advice for tackling Level 10+ planets in case you haven't seen it:

The GAFdiver Guide To Kicking Alien Butt While Drinking Liber-tea
This is a very good guide. I just have two comments: first, it's important that you have a good spread of stratagems, but the way they're distributed among the team isn't a big deal. Feel free to mix the roles presented. Second, only wimps intentionally fail objectives. Freedom comes from bravery.

I was just going off the setups that my squad and I were running. They seemed to work pretty well. We communicated a lot, so if one of us wanted another to call in a stratagem, they'd do it. And as I stated at the beginning of the guide, the roles I listed are merely suggestions, and people are welcome to modify these suggestions to best suit their needs. If you have any good stratagem setups, please share them with us!

As for intentionally failing objectives, I don't really like doing that, but c'mon, if you have to escort 4 survivors across the entire map on a Level 12 planet, you probably would fail anyways.

I'd be up for this.

^ can you see your friend's game and isn't allowing you to join or is it not showing the game at all?

Two PS3 users I cannot see at all. I can join them through public games if we happen to get a game where the main guy is not idling in the ship. 'Host migrating and boots to main screen'

On PS4 to PS4. I can sometimes join my friends game and he mine, but many times we cannot join each others game. Can't remember the error.

Playing as a 2 PS3 and 2 PS4 team is impossible and very very frustrating. 3 is possible with trying to search for a third party but we are four.

Edit: and the two PS3 users could not join each others games. Only the PS4 users. We all are located in Finland.

It is a great game. GREAT GAME! But I cannot possible recommend this when it clearly does not work for us. When the fix is here buy it. 100% buy it. But for now? No, wait for it to work. Coop is the name of the game and I want to play with friends.

I would like to add that the game can be played. It works in public games with randoms, and it will probably work with four PS4 users together mostly, but it has fundamental bugs that the buyers should be aware that it is far from perfect right now.

I won't ask my money back because I know it's good and I know there will be a patch one day.

If you have to spend couple of hours to try and play, it is no small bug.

That's debatable. I spent 30 minutes trying to get into random public matches last night and got the teleport failed message 20+ times. Never could get into a random match, but I eventually got into some a friend's match and played with them for a while, but the matchmaking is essentially broken.

It's a fantastic game, some of the most fun I've had in gaming in a long time. They just need to iron out the matchmaking, progression reset bugs with disconnected controllers, and a few other minor bugs. Luckily the gameplay itself works great, haven't had any issues with that.

I felt bad for recommending this to friends as I could initially play a bit in public games and laughed at dying under a crate from the orbit, or just under fire.
But when we got together twice and try, everyone was just complaining and everything was soured.

Praying for that patch to make things better.

Been playing a couple of days, and correct me if I'm wrong, there's no way to change the camera? It's the one thing that bugs me. Either due to the way the camera follows in co-op, I either lose track of my character, people it moves on before a drop can come, or I can't see enemies that can clearly see me/the team and alarms go off. Unless I'm stupid and missing something, does anyone have any tips to deal with this?

You can't change the camera. Everyone has to stick together to move around, otherwise you'll be stuck at the edges. Patrols probably are at the edge of your screen and notice you, that's why the alarms go off. Use your map and the UAV to spot patrols; you can shoot them while they are off screen, or move to avoid them.

Figured as much. That just kind of bugs me. I get the whole idea behind the game and have to say the friendly fire stuff really makes it fun, but having to pull up the radar, stopping everything else, then using limited ammo to half-blindly shoot off screen in hopes I hit the patrols is just pretty fucking tedious if I'm being honest.

You get used to as you play more, it does seem daunting at first but it's not bad at all. Especially as you get more strategems (turrets, airstrikes, mechs, etc.) that you can use to cover certain parts of the map while you're doing an objective.

Any recommendations for quickly farming RPs? The reset bug really stalled me out, and I'm trying to get my equipment leveled back up.
