Helldivers |OT| Everybody Fights, Nobody Quits.

I saw the previous and it looks amazing. However, I rarely play with anyone at home....is the only community active and cool?

I played with randoms for hours earlier, a bunch of different people and everyone was helping and not being a dick. The community seems really good, obviously if you have online friends to play with and laugh at the dumb shit that happens, it will be a million times better.

Did they fix something with the room browser? Got on today and the only rooms that were showing weren't full and I was able to join in every game I tried. Hallelujah!

I used to spend more time trying to join games than actually playing the fucking game.

They added a full lobby filter option, on by default.

Good games tonight. Patch delivered a more stable experience. Only had an issue with servers refreshing slowly and for some reason, the loading/saving skull never left my screen. Not sure what that was all about but I had no problems saving my progress.

Unlocked the HAV :D

I encountered this all tonight, post-patch. Pretty strange... like you I didn't notice any issues with my progress being saved, however.

Press options and quit to main menu, then the logo will disappear after a while. Log back in and you should have no problems.

As an added bonus, if you're orbiting a planet when you quit, the log in screen shows the planet you're orbiting.

Played with a couple friends tonight for the first time and had a blast. Great to be able to talk and communicate while running through hordes of enemies.

Definitely recommend this game for anyone who likes to coop.

This game is an absolute blast and for only 17 bucks you can not go wrong if you love co-op games.

I love the fact that Friendly Fire is an always on mechanic.

It makes for some truly magnificent encounters where you have to make decisions whether to dropship bomb the most powerful enemy in the group, with the danger of killing your teammates, or just hope on surviving without using the revival skill.

But some people need to learn that turrets are pretty useless in a Level 7-9 mission when you have 4 exo suits waiting for the dropship to land.

I always have this fragment in my head when fighting bugs:

Played a couple of rounds with some randoms last night, there were one guy who dropped mines all over the objectives, so fucking annoying. Worse then turrets, at least you can shoot down the turrets if they are misplaced.

Upgraded the UAV and man does that pay for itself fast! Some maps have a lot of samples lying around.
Of course only 1 player needs it but whenever I join a game in progress I always equip it just in case.
Always check too see if anyone else have it otherwise.

Got the no damage received and no alerts trophies on the same mission, against level 8 cyborgs on a desert level with accommodating objectives. Compiling a video now I will put up on YouTube in case anyone else is looking for ideas on how to knock those two trophies out.

edit: here is the video - showing about 10 minutes left for it to finish uploading. Towards the end I used a smoke grenade just in case to cover the approach to the shuttle. This was my third attempt at the mission, and both of the previous runs I was spotted inside the last 30 seconds prior to the shuttle arriving.

The trick is to have 2 distractor beacon slots and make use of map geography when you plant distractors away from your evacuation beacon. Its an art form.

I'll upload my 0 shots fired playthrough of a lvl 7 cyborg desert when I get home.

Oh trust me...It goes away...but only while in the main screen. The moment you get back in game it pops back up and is there to stay lol. I tried everything to get it to go away. It's definitely a bug introduced with 1.03

Thats's weird. Mine is fixed if I do that.

Oh well its a harmless bug and I'll rather have this than borked matchmaking.

Yup. Did it yesterday on a level 7 cyborg ice planet, went with two distractor beacons, UAV, jumpack and stratagem priority. Dropped a beacon near the drop location and went clockwise completing objectives (two area captures, two truth transmitters, silo defense) while leaving beacons behind me. It was tense but really fun.

I wish randoms appreciated the beauty that are distractor beacons more. Just yesterday I planted one away from our objectives so that we could get around to them without much trouble, but the rest of my team was having none of that and insisted on running towards the beacon. Got kicked for trying to move away from it afterwards :/

I played a random game this morning and chanced upon a couple of other players who are using the Distractor Beacons as we've all been talking about here. I immediately knew their play and went along. We hardly had any encounters and we all went for the objectives. Mission was done very quickly and our extraction was essentially uneventful.

I commended the guys once we're back to the ship and they did the same for me. I left the party because my other friend wanted me to join him, only to get a notification seconds later that the two random players wanted to add me as a friend. Heck, they even sent a "good game" message afterwards.

If only we always come across such players most of the time...

Hmm wondering if I played with you, did some level 10 bug missions and got the Shredder Missile also also achieved the no death trophy on 10 or higher mission.

Kinda makes me sad :(

Finding and joining matches like no one's business since patch 1.03... but I'm still getting disconnected at mission-end roughly 1/5 missions. I haaaaaate that feeling of wasted time.

I think I'll be taking a break for a while.

that feeling you get after successfully clearing all three missions to get a strategem you really want and right before you get your reward you lose network connectivity.

Not sure if the mission was against bugs or cyborgs, but it's most likely the former. I checked the NeoGAF players spreadsheet and didn't see you on the list so I can't confirm if you're one of the two guys I was referring to. But whether we played with the game each other or not, it's good that we met players who actually don't just stand around shooting enemies.

The loading/saving symbol in the top-right corner of the screen has been continuously there spinning for me since, probably 1.02 (Europe so not even 1.03 until whenever).

A week in and I still can't stop humming the GOAT main theme of the game. It's constantly one of the highlights of the game when it starts playing during extraction.

I have taken to dropping the shredder as soon as the ship lands. Really encourages guys to GET TO THE CHOPPA instead of sticking around shooting things and potentially getting killed last second.

hehe

You know, that sounded so wrong yet it is actually so right. Hahaha!

I wonder if they'll ever do an event that happens during the evening in the US? And it seems like they need to decouple the win condition from the number of participants, and instead tie it to win rate or something similar. People aren't going to want to join in these events if they always seem impossible to win.

There was one on Monday or Tuesday, Illuminates invading one of our planets. Went from like 7ish-10ish PM CST. Sadly we lost that too haha. I agree though, I wish there were more during the evening, seems like the majority happen in the middle of the day.

Loving the game. I'm level 12 and my experience has been great so far. Still learning a lot but I've done some harder missions and it was really fun. Some people need to learn what patrols are though and that you don't just stand around for 20 minutes not completing objectives.

My lvl 7 cyborg no shots fired 0 alerts mission.

video here

Killed 4 peeps by using the distractor beacon to lure patrols into mines. Pity you can't get infinite accuracy.

Says access denied on the video link, but yeah. I got my no alerts trophy by surprise on a Very Hard or Challenging mission too.

Game feels fun again now that there's a filter to remove full games. Can join more randoms and dick around, whether they're on a low level or not. Now I can watch people ignore the field on the tesla tower and walk their exo's into it as I'm telling them not to, blow us all up with the HAV's splash damage etc

Just got the Mr. Danmaku trophy!

Edit- tried going for the "Complete a Level 4 mission in 5 minutes or less" and got 5:49, grr. I'll try again when the missions reset and I get something more favorable.

They messed up the PS4 triggers issue even more with this new patch. Now I'm unable to properly use weapons I had little trouble using before. I suppose at this point I'm better off waiting for the new PS4 firmware, assuming that the button mapping option comes along with it.
