Obviously this guy's broken promises needed to be called out, but I don't feel good about the ongoing response of the community.

Remember when Jim Sterling was being threatened and insulted by a bunch of people who hadn't played the game yet when he gave NMS a 5? Remember that?

Good times.

people got burned, and are pissed they got burned. its as simple as that.

Yeah... no. There is being burned and then there is:

Why does this schadenfreude feel so good? I'm legit rubbing my nipples in excitement here bros. I wish nothing but the worst things in life for everyone that worked on this thing.

This is well beyond people simply being disappointed in a hyped up game.

What's your win condition? What is it that people hope to have happen to either Sean Murray and Hello Games?

Them to go bust?
Them to never release another game?
Sean Murray to not have a job any more?
All involved to be drummed out of the Games industry
Sony to never market any Indie games on the PS4 again?

What is it that people who have been continuously going on about this game for months want?

Whats your win condition? Im really interested to see if its less than driving people to suicide.

I don't think there is one, but I certainly don't want the offices pulled down, and the ground salted so nothing ever grows there again like some people too.

It's a $60 game FFS.

Yep. It´s time to let go. I remember when the community got this Microsoft dude fired and celebrated like it was a huge achievement, something to take pride in.

To me it was a low point for our community.

Because of over promising on a videogame? The worst things in life for everyone? You're a colossal asshole you know that, right?

Fuck off.

They've been radio silent for how long now? and then this? its likely a hack but it could equally as likely be a disgruntled employee who has access, venting at the situation - the offices seem too quiet, we already know people left shortly after launch, I don't think its out of the realms of possibility that redundancies/disbanding of the studio might be occurring and one pissed off employee had had enough

eitherway, I can't see the tweet right now, maybe in the future following a patch I might be able to see it

Yep remember all those NMS threads and discussion and heated they got and how vicious lovers of the game were towards. People that had their clear or growing hang ups with the project. Good times. Remember that reddit post?yeah that was a thing.

Oh hell nah, son. You reap what you sow. They scammed millions of players out of millions of dollars. They need to pay.

What does "pay" mean? Enormous amounts of refunds? Extreme disrespect of the studio? Total loss of credibility? Terrible publicity following release?

That's already happened. They paid. Wanting anything more is inappropriate, this a business - these people are not and should not be staking their own personal lives on this.

Oh, so another "devs are allowed to lie about every aspect of their product until the day of release" commentary combined with a "don't pre-order games!" even though I didn't mention that in my post at all. These excuses are tired garbage that should have died months ago. Stop trying to justify a company misrepresenting their product. Fuck, they're still under investigation for false advertising on their steam page.

Yes they are allowed to lie as much as they want, what is the alternative? A government fact-checking coalition for video game releases? The studio has been absolutely slammed, they are for all intents and purposes buried now.

It's a shitty thing of them to be disingenuous with their product leading up to launch, but both Steam and PSN were active about giving refunds outside of the usual conditions. If people rushed to preorder a game from a largely unproven studio with suspiciously huge ambitions, they should recognize that this an inherently risky proposition.

Again I'm not justifying anything here I'm only saying that a) individuals could have prevented this, b) there was a refund window in the majority of cases, and c) that there is no reasonable way to "fact check" promises during development without engendering an antagonistic level of skepticism all around.

I kinda feel bad for Sean Murray and his team over at Hello Games. Pre-ordered the LE on PS4, played the game for about 10-12 hours and decided this ain't for me, doesn't have what Murray spoke about. Whatever, I just put it down and haven't touched it since. I didn't feel the need to have a go at Murray, didn't feel the need to shit on Hello Games.

I'd say I had better stuff to do, but them I'm throwing shade at people who went for his jugular. Maybe I wasn't passionate about NMS as other folks were.

Two things I didn't like about this entire NMS shitshow. Shu throwing Sean under the bus, because Sony had as much fault as Murray did for NMS being the shitshow it was. And moreover, the fact that Murray and Hello Games went into hiding and haven't said a darn thing about this game is astounding.

I've read on other forums that perhaps Sean's personality is fragile and not built to take all of this heat towards him. Fuck that, man the fuck up, but your big boy pants on and address the folks who bought your game with their hard earned cash. Tell them wtf went wrong, why did you promise so much that didn't make it into the game.

Be fucking transparent with people who bought your game.

So I guess that 'critic' Jim Sterling will make 10 million videos on NMS again.

Pretty bloody sad if that's a real tweet though. :(

"I was disappointed by this $60 consumer product that this team spent three years of their life on, therefore I want these people to suffer miserably"

Jesus fucking Christ, get your priorites in order and move on.

To people saying they "know for sure" or "Im 100% sure" its a hack, how do you know to be that certain?

I would also lean towards a hack, but who knows. Especially since they didnt delete the tweet, just locked their account. Because you can see that the tweet is still live via their homepage
