Hello Games - "No Man's Sky was a mistake." [Up3: Disgruntled Employee]

Sorry there are limit for how disgusting people can be.

This thread showed us that without neogaf moderation either minority or majority of gamer can be quite disgusting.
It's not just gamers. People thrive off drama at the expense of others all the time.

Like I don't think a single person in here has suggested that they aren't culpable for the failings of the game but real talk the more you abuse someone and treat them like shit the less inclined they are going to feel to respond to your needs as a customer.

I've worked in service jobs for many years and believe me when customers start abusing you it makes you way less inclined to help them. Yes it sucks that some people paid $60 for this game and either had trouble running the game period on PC or it wasn't exactly what they were expecting but that doesn't give you the right to be a fucking shit lord to someone over that. We need to hold their feet to the fire to make them respond to the criticisms of the game not fucking throw them IN the goddamn fire.

I personally have no idea what he lied about outside of multiplayer. The game is exactly what it was marketed as outside of that. It's not as "good" as it was hyped up to be, but no game is.

There are people that deserve to be hounded, a developer of a videogame is not one of them. Your life has not been ruined in any way shape or form and so it makes no sense to heap vitriol that should be saved for people that actually ruin other people's lives. At worst you got swindled out of 60 bucks, just move the fuck on.

Why exactly should they get a free pass for how NMS has been handled?

Whatever the case is with the tweets and emails, I hope everyone at Hello Games is doing alright.

This whole thing has demonstrated (as if the evidence hadn't been piling up already) what a childish and disgusting group of people the gaming community can be at times. It's always an eye for a bloody eye.

So the game wasn't good. You feel lied to. You feel betrayed. But it's just a game. The most you lost was $60, and if you can't replace that amount of money comfortably then you shouldn't be buying games on launch day.

Why exactly should they get a free pass for how NMS has been handled?

A free pass? How the hell have they gotten a free pass? Hello Games' reputation is trashed, maybe irreparably. Sean Murray is on-par with Randy Pitchford in terms of "popular to hate", and will probably never recover from it. Nobody has gotten a "free pass" here.

I mean, yes, the game was mediocre once you get past the initial buzz and the creators straight up lied, but we are in a period of hit after hit. Why anyone would get invested in this rather than play some awesome games I dunno.

No Man's Sky definitely had some big mistakes, no doubt about it.

Gamers reaction was an even worse mistake. Undoubtedly the worst consumer group of any legal product line. Not just because of this game either. In fact the reaction to this game is relatively mild evidence.

Whoa, I feel pretty bad for them. The game never really looked that appealing to me, and it seems that the end result was what I always expected it to be. It just got way overhyped, and selling it for $60 didnt help. But damn, the response from people has been brutal. Hope they get passed it all.

it's pretty fucking embarrassing to be on this website when a NMS thread happens.
It's pretty fucking embarrassing that Hello Games was being dead silent after people that their game is an overall disappointment. Things have finally come out of the woodworks but in the weirdest way possible right now.

At least Ubisoft did something when AC Unity was marred with horrible glitches that made people point and laugh at them.

Deepwater Horizon controversy was fraud on a massive scale. This is a video game ... your sense of proportion is out of whack. What's happening here is people don't want to accept responsibility for their recreational purchase ... that's all this is. "I didn't get enough enjoyment from this product so that man and his team should suffer."

Sean Murray lied. He lied with the intent of getting people's money on the basis of the lies.

That is fraud on the most basic level. It doesn't matter if it's a video game, or a car, or healing crystals or a pet rock. Lying about something in other to get other people's money is fraud.

people in here justifying abuse and worse on the dude. you're even worse than his lies and you don't deserve the games made for your entertainment
Can we name and shame these people?

Everyone is screaming stop the abuse but without actually providing any evidence of it.

I can't believe people are so devoid of empathy as to not feel sorry for Murray or the team at all. They clearly wanted to make the best game possible -- it just turned out it wasn't possible. By that time the marketing had gotten away from them and I'm sure they thought the game would still be good enough to warrant the enthusiasm it incited, flaws and all.

For most people that wasn't true.

And everyone has raked them over the coals for it like a mob of selfish, angry children.

I didn't like No Man's Sky. I was also highly dissatisfied. It was not worth the price of admission. And it was marketed on promises it could not keep. But that is no. reason. to. ruin. a. life.

It was just another mediocre game. It didn't hurt you. Get over it.
They should issue a public PR statement in as many places as possible. This isn't first time this has happened and it won't be the last. Essentially putting your head in the sand should never be the response to something unless you fully accepted the fall out and have cut your losses and jumped ship. it doesn't sound like Hello games have done either.

How much empathy do you have for your mechanic that tried to fix your car for the agreed upon price, but it still rattled? How much empathy do you have for Activision if their CoD campaign isn't that well received because they were on a deadline? Are you saying that as long as you try, no one should question your claims or promises?

Nope, just don't preorder games. Wait and see the reception.

youre right, companies should be allowed to completely misrepresent their game before release day and everyone should sit and wait for impressions. surely thats the best solution, to never hold devs and pubs accountable for the things they market and say. Surely this will be great for the industry.

Typical if it is really Sean tweeting, after all this time he can't just start talking to the community he has to make a dramatic song and dance about it.

Dear sociopath,

Please move ahead with your life. You probable have spent so much money on other dumb shit, this is a fucking videogame.

Hope you can grow up some day and find peace in your life.

Love,
Victor.

Dear Junior,

I haven't harassed or wished ill upon sean murray at any point.
I have only been pointing out that the continious backlash towards the issue is not in fact caused by people's wish for blood - as the poster i quoted - stated but rather that the backlash continous on because people still to this day haven't even gotten the slightest bit of acknowledgment towards the many issues by the developer who was usually so quick to respond on social media.

I personally haven't even bought the game, so please stop projecting.
And please actually utilize your brain when reading.

Love,
Hektor
