Hello Micorsoft, it is us!!!! North Europe, remember us??

[...] (and yes you can import a German one but I do not want to buy points otherwise then using my own creditcard)

At least stop the silence.

If you're not into badly translated games and want to play games on your xbox one, you have to set your system language to english. But Microsoft won't see that people in sweden speak english, therefore there will only be swedish available as a system language in sweden. To have your console and games in english, you have to set your country to UK... which will direct you to UK Xbox store, where... you've guessed it already... your credit card won't work!
Also: if you happen to have your system language set to the country you live in and play a game that has language selection build into the game, then... still bad luck if you want voice-commands as your kinect will be expecting swedish accent.
To untie region from language will take a coder from Microsoft probably about 30 minutes and a patch-size of 300kb, but MS doesn't care that a LOT of gamers just hate shitty translations.

EDIT: That said, I still play it a lot more than my PS4 because it has more good games (or games that appeal to me) so far.

I'd guess that would lead to a lot of criticism and complaints from customers about how the commands don't work.
...because it works so well in countries that got a translated version already. No TV-kinectcommands, no One-guide and a lot of kinect commands that want you to rape your native language by demanding sentences in an english order of syntactic-phrase-parts(don't know the english word for it, sorry). For english speaking people just so can imagine how it is for me: It's like your Kinect won't accept a command unless you say "Xbox, go Skype to".

Cdon is not a Finnish reseller, they're a all-nordic reseller. Their main warehouses are in Sweden I think. All Finnish retail shops are sold out. When new shipment comes, all the consoles are sold within few days.

But you're able to buy it from Finland through CDON with Finnish consumer rights, correct? That in my opinion is not sold out.

CDON is probably also getting PS4 quotas from Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway since they are present in each region.

Microsoft can fuck off, I already bought a PS4.

There are some A+ posts in this thread. Has me dying.

I would just pick up a PS4 at this point if you're trying to get a next-gen console.

I just imported from the UK to Finland.

No issues, no regrets and possibly cheaper than the eventual Finnish release. I Just have to remember to do my best British accent when speaking to the thing. No rally English.

I'm guessing langue and accents. Gotta have that Kinect working properly, after all, that's why you're buying this thing right? Cuz you love the Kinect? Aww c'mon, everyone loves the Kinect!

Seriously though that's probably it. I remember that when Apple launched Siri there was quite a bit of trouble getting it to recognize accents. Funnily enough I remember one of the biggest issues was in Scotland.

I remember when Sony delayed the PSP in Germany and I went out and bought a DS instead. Best gaming decision of my life. Tier 2-friends, maybe you should try the PS4 if you haven't already. Even if you don't like it, you can still sell it for a pretty good price and wait for the Xbox One.

Honestly, Sony might as well have delayed their launch as well. Don't know how many units were allocated to Sweden, enough to cover the pre-orders and not a whole lot more. Seems Sony would rather focus on regions where the Xbox One is officially available.

If you want an Xbox One you need to pay a premium for a UK/DE import. Don't know if there could be region/account issues.
If you want a PS4 you need to pay a premium because non-existent stock has pushed up the prices to Xbox One levels.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Cdon is like Nordic Amazon or something, if Cdon Sweden is sold out, so is Cdon Finland = same main warehouses. All ACTUAL Finnish retailers sell out within some days when they get a shipment. And I don't know any people who are buying electronics via Cdon, it's considered as a "cheap and bad" place and it is used to get discount movies and games only.

Not to burst your bubble, but the PS3 was the market leader in Europe. The 360 only had the UK.

That said, I fully agree with you that they should release it as soon as possible.

Actually here in Denmark, the ps3 only overtook the 360 as the most sold console, sometime in the last two years, as far as I recall. It's definitely on top now though.

I don't think so, MS has a long history of speech recognition software in a variety of languages.
If it's not MS trying to create a success story for Tier 1 areas before going to Tier 2 and also not due to the management reshuffling, then I would much sooner surmise it has to do with the TV providers and the patchwork of different legislations that comprise Europe.

None of those stores here in Norway.

25% VAT if one imports here since outside of EU. Don't think too many want to import. I know of some people who's picked up consoles while traveling to UK and such though.

GAME apparently have it. A friend ordered it from microsoftstore.de and didn't pay any VAT (not even German), and got it sent from a Norwegian warehouse.

MS dropped the ball with Europe. Last gen they put all their effort into making headway in Japan and just failed miserably. Despite not putting in much effort they actually did a lot better in Europe with the 360. I thought they would learn from that and focus their efforts on Europe this gen. Instead they pretty much ignored the region and just gave it away.

Then again they basically entirely focused on the US market and even there they look to be struggling.

Problem is, here in Norway at least, PS4 may have just not launched. It's constantly sold out, and only people pre-ordering have got theirs. So next-gen is justed busted here, the only option is buying a gaming PC. Entering your name on pre-order lists just sends you home with nothing, and you probably end up getting one in april/may. Trying to find the few that hit the shelves is an impossible task, unless you're unemployed and have all day to roam stores.

At this rate Tier 2 will have an even bigger price cut and maybe even a Kinectless model!

So the wait may be worth it for the savings and a better game lineup. Otherwise PS4.

This is what I would do.

I mean, why go through the hassle of importing a console, import the games or wait for the stores to import those as well maybe to find out minutes later the only language aviable on the disc is French or Spanish (does Konami still do this for PES?).

Or why wait for maybe a non-bundled full price XBO like MS is making you a favour? I never got why we have to praise corporations for "caring" (see: selling their products) and let them shit in our face while smiling.

I invite you to come to Norway, Sweden and Finland and get hold of a PS4 from a shop here :)

I don't think anyone even wants XBONE here so they can ship those units somewhere else.

Fake edit: Oh it is getting Quantum Break. Ship a few units this way in that case.

It really is absurd that they've delayed the console in so much of the world, and mostly because of the Kinect, a feature most people don't give a shit about.

CDON is one of the biggest nordic online retailers, it is strange that you don't know anyone who buys from them.

Nevertheless you are still able to buy PS4 with local currency and local consumer rights.
My opinion is that if I'm able to buy a product like that, then it's not sold out.

Personally I was able to just walk in to a store and buy two PS4's here in Norway, a few weeks back. No pre-order, no reservation. I guess I'm just lucky.

OK Microsoft what is the deal with the launch of Xbox One in North Europe?
(Netherlands / Belgium / sweden / Norway / Denmark).

This is the first time I ever see anyone claiming Netherlands or Belgium are a part of Northern Europe, while ignoring actual Northern European countries like Finland, Estonia and Iceland completely. -_-;

It is not like.. they are selling out on NA, UK etc. I see lot of Xbones on shelf. Why not re-direct some to other territories too.

Yeah, just read what people are saying about Norway. They're not finding any. The northern you go in Finland the easier you'll get a PS4 is. That's my guess and I think that's the case in Sweden and Norway as well.

Why aren't Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian people buying PS4s from Cdon then? My bet is that it's kind of a pre-order, once you order they say "sorry, you'll have to wait for next shipment". At least it's like that with out-of-stock movies when they know they'll get shipment soon.

I cared when it was announced but didn't pre-order.

Cared a whole lot less after the DRM and the following 180.

Cared just enough to still be interested after it was pretty clear it was the weaker machine and Tier 2 countries were shafted.

And now I just don't care any more, good job Microsoft.

They are. CDON has sold out 3 shipments of PS4 this year. That includes Knack and Killzone bundle. And no this is not a kind of pre-order, they do have in stock. A friend of mine just recently ordered and his PS4 is on it's way.

You should also know that January and February are the months where Scandinavian people got the least amount of money to spend due to the holidays. That's the reason for "January Sale".

Only tier one countries get the Xbox One. It's even in the name.
Once they make the Xbox Two then you'll get it.

-Sincerely, a fellow European who already has an Xbox One because Microsoft deems the country I live in to of more importance.

Ok. I honestly don't know anyone who orders from CDON's electronic division. Their warranty sucks (at least here). And yet there's still people wanting to buy a PS4 and can't find it anywhere. =)

I doubt people would want to buy from there anyway if it is 499€. The NF tax is bad enough.

It still hasn't come out in many places of south america either.

I honestly don't know why people are waiting over here. Not to sound like a fanboy but at least Sony took the time officially release the cheaper and slightly more powerfull Ps4 over here only 2 weeks after the US. You can pick up all the multiplatform games on it and they will probably give you better performance, and the biggest X1 "exclusive" at the moment will launch world wide (digitally) on PC, you don't even need a high end PC to play it
