Hello Neighbor 2 is the sequel to the popular stealth horror game about sneaking into your creepy neighbor's house. You play as a local journalist investigating missing persons reports when you follow a series of clues leading you back to the abandoned house of The Neighbor.

Only problem is, it's occupied by a mysterious crow-like being. The only logical thing to do is break in. Welcome back to Raven Brooks.

They really upped the graphics on this one. I know both my sons were super excited for this announcement.

What Went Wrong with Hello Neighbor 2? Apparently quite a lot, with the promise of AI working on a Neural Network that wasn't in the game, an open world sandbox that turned out to be linear, lacking content, broken DLC (Back to School and Late Fees), the Guest missing and a rough launch.

Regardless of it's flaws and all the drama, Hello Neighbor 2 isn't a terrible game. Alpha 1 and Alpha 1.5 of Hello Neighbor 2 had some promising features and it's a shame that they were cut from the full game.

Compared to the original Hello Neighbor, this is objectively much better even more so now with patches released in the past few months. It's not perfect but I can only hope that they can make good on the broken promises and deliver more with future updates.

  • 📉 "Hello Neighbor" was overhyped, had bugs, gameplay issues, convoluted puzzles, and poor execution, leading to negative publicity, but it was still a success, spawning a franchise.
  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Tiny Build acquired Dynamic Pixels and rebranded it as Eerie guest Studios, another studio that helped with the production of games for the franchise.
  • 🎮 "Hello Neighbor Hide and Seek," the prequel to the original, was positively received by fans, but it still had quality control issues.
  • 🕵️‍♂️ In "Secret Neighbor," a multiplayer game, you can play as one of six kids trying to get into the neighbor's basement, but one of them is secretly the neighbor. It also has two currencies, one of them being premium.
  • 🚗 "Hello Engineer" is a game about making wacky vehicles and racing with friends, unrelated to the other games in the franchise.
  • 📺 The franchise includes a cartoon series, book series, merchandise, plushies, and a board game.
  • 🎯 Tiny Build aims to explore other media to expand the franchise and has been successful in doing so.
  • 🧒 The franchise largely appeals to a younger audience, primarily from ages 8 to 16, but quality still matters.
  • 🔍 "Hello Neighbor 2" made big promises but didn't deliver on them, resulting in a rushed release and negative feedback.
  • 🕵️‍♂️ The story of "Hello Neighbor 2" begins with "Secret Neighbor's" Merck event, in which players found a pin board with photos that spelled out forward slash hgp, which turned out to be an extension for the secret neighbor.com URL. Players downloaded a zip file that required a passcode to open.
  • 🎮 The player is chased by the inhabitant of the house and when caught, they are thrown away with ungodly strength scattering all their items.
  • 📹 The game design allows for the use of tools that make sense to the player, such as a camera that shows a key code to open a locked room with a crowbar, instead of having to find random objects to unlock puzzles.
  • 🔍 Exploring the map, the player finds a generator to power a conveyor belt that drops the Crowbar outside a fence, and they can use a fire extinguisher to make it fall on the belt and get it.
  • 🎃 The Alpha 1.5 is a Halloween-themed update to the existing Alpha, with more complex puzzles than the original.
  • 🎮 The goal is to get more people to play the game on day one so that they can train the AI.
  • 🌎 The game is an open-world sandbox game with the main questline with the neighbor and other side quests with different people, each with their own neural network AI.
  • 💰 On pre-order day, people could spend money and pre-order the game, with the added option to sign up to the deluxe edition DLC content, but the neural network AI was not confirmed again.
  • 🆕 The beta went live on the same day as pre-order people, and the tutorial was straightforward, short, and intuitive. The game teaches you the mechanics through action, and objectives are made clear through placement.
  • 🎮 Adding characters, but the game was unfinished upon release with cliffhanger ending and broken DLCs.
  • 🎭 Strange for an established studio to release unfinished game, with only additional content coming from broken DLCs.
  • 🤔 Steel wool studios, tagged as developers on release day, have been removed for unknown reasons.
  • 🎢 Weather system and amusement park mentioned but not in game, and lack of attention to detail and bugs found in the game.
  • 🧩 The game is a big step up from the original, with a decent Cat and Mouse puzzle game with set objectives and multiple mini-puzzles to get key items, but some puzzles and obstacles do not make sense.
  • 🔍 Main elements of the game link together and the puzzles make sense most of the time, but there were some weird puzzles and obstacles.
  • 🤷‍♂️ The game has improved since release, but broken promises, bugs, lack of content, and botched DLCs remain
  • 🎮 The game developer Steel Wall Studios was removed from the developer tags, and the DLC for Hello Neighbor 2 is not recommended for the price they're going for.
  • 🌍 Tiny Build is a global company with many resources, studios, and employees dotted all over the world, including Ukraine and Russia. The company had to act fast and get people out of the country due to the life-threatening circumstances in Russia.
  • 🤝 The CEO of Tiny Build, Alex Nichevichek, put their people first during a high-stress situation caused by the circumstances in Russia.
  • 🎉 The fans of Hello Neighbor 2 deserved better than what they got, with a half-baked product and uncooked DLC. If the developer had been upfront and honest about the game's linear progression and lack of neural network AI, things would have turned out better.
  • 🧒 Tiny Build knows that a large portion of their target audience are young and less critical than older audiences.
