Hell's Kitchen has the greatest intro sequences of all time

I'm not talking about the best reality television sequences, but the best ever television sequences. I'm not that big of a fan of the show (I like Masterchef, however), but the intros have become a reason to tune in at least once for a few minutes every season.

It wasn't always this way, though. The first few seasons were relatively tame, but you could see them wanting to put more and more as the seasons went by.

Season 1 was pretty basic, but Gorden shaking his head or giving his 'who is this fuck?' face with every contestant was pretty good.

Season 2 is where the editors started to get bored or experimental or both, but damn look at all these needless and out-of-sync effects. Someone had a good time in After Effects.

Season 3 is when they start to refine their effects a bit as the kitchen basically gets completely enveloped in hellfire. Still, nothing to write home (or make a thread about) quite yet.

Season 4 is where things start to get good. Who thought to make all the contestants rat-sized? This season came out about a year after Ratatouille hit theaters, so I'm guessing Pixar was the inspiration for Fox to go insane with their intros for Hell's Kitchen.

Season 5 seems like it's back to basics at first with a giant Rube Goldberg sequence, but the actual moments that comprise the 'machine' are hilariously bizarre. In most parts of the intro, contestants are "reacting" and moving out of the way of this wacky contraption's workings, but then there's also dude smiling as he's amost hit in the face with a steak knife. Then part of the machine involves a butcher knife smashing into a bunch of eggs, and then shish-kabob missiles flying about, and it's just like someone either gave up trying to make sense or decided not to give a fuck about 1/3 through the intro planning process.

Season 6 shows the first truly ridiculous theme, however, with the carnival. My favorite part here is 'half man, half donkey', but there's other good moments like the really bad whack-a-mole transition and walking on tightrope with a loaf of bread. Ramsey's mouth opening at the beginning is also something made of nightmares.

Season 7 is an actual trip to hell. I couldn't find a clip of 'just the intro', but this Youtube video has it. The imp-chefs are obviously the highlight of the whole thing.

Season 8 is GOAT. I'm not going to spoil it. Just watch.

Season 9 is a giant pinball machine. I love how Gordon is really getting into it as the ball crushes the contestants and turns them into smears.

Season 10 is 'Magic Show' themed. Pretty okay, but no real standout moments.

Season 11 is where the Hell's Kitchen contestants take on Transformers. I wish I was joking. This is probably the second best sequence just behind Season 8 (but barely):

Season 12 (finally, we caught up to current season!) is an entire comic book. Who waits behind a street corner with a hammer, honestly? Fox uploaded this Youtube video and added horrible sound effects for some reason, but it adds to the charm so whatever here you go:

Reality show intros are my favorite garbage. The America's Next Top Baker one where all the contestants are badly green screened into climbing a cake is tops.

I love how this each season is a carbon copy of the previous one, but I can't help but to watch.

Hell's Kitchen is so terrible that I can't help but enjoy it, but if Ramsay weren't there, no way. Gotta have something nice to look at.

I love how every season there's always at least 1 contestant that is completely "out of character" for his/her intro and totally awkward.

Also what's up with season 5 and people with super short names? lol... There's a guy called "J"? wtf

Haha. He's definitely getting on, but Ramsay is attractive. Just maybe not by standards that guys have (i.e. looks only). :P
My gf thinks he's physically attractive. She misses the formerly-obligatory Kitchen Nightmares scene where Ramsay either gets dressed or undressed.

I miss it too.

Thank you OP for the new avatar idea. By the way, the british Kitchen Nightmares is a great show because it is relaxed and done like a documentary instead of the dramatic american version.

There basically two entirely different shows, and I like them both for different reasons. The UK version has better music, more focus on food, and way better editing. The US version is trashy and entertaining. I prefer the former, but they're both great.
