Will Nintendo allow installing games onto the harddrive to cut down on load times? That's a feature that I really like that should be utilized more often.

Internal Storage will be more than enough for me. Unless Nintendo decided to use it for partial game installation.

I know I'm a fool for saying this, but I'd still go wiTh the 128gb SD card. No moving parts, more reliable, and it fits inside the console so no extra space required.

It has slower read and write though, so who knows how that will effect loading times. I will go with a USB 3.0($15) enclosure with 128GB(sub $75) or 256GB(sub $150) SSD. I'm going with this because I think the SSD will give consistant performance(~30-35MB r/w), low heat, and long drive life.

I wouldn't say an SD card is more reliable than a Hard Drive. Unless you live on a train or something.

So serious question on what people feel will be the best approach for storage? Will you simply attach an external hard drive; opt for an SD card; or USB drive (does it support USB drives?). Are there any performance considerations that we less technical folks need worry about (i.e. I've read USB 2.0 is not fast enough for good game performance, but then also have read that it is still faster than reading off an optical disk drive so it will be fine for games. Thanks for the help/opinions!!

You won't get 3.0 speeds on the Wii U though since its ports are supposed to be 2.0.

I am just getting it because the enclosure isn't that much more expensive than USB 2.0 and that performance should be more consistent.

For those who don't have one yet, LaCie makes an external HDD with the same piano black finish as the premium WiiU. They're pretty cheap, too, if I recall.

Do you have a link to that? I'd like to check that out.

I'll be using the internal storage at first, but I'll probably eventually get an external. Does anyone know if using a hard drive with the Wii U will make it usable only with that one console?
