Help me decide between Uncharted and Assassin's Creed...

I'm about half way through AC, and I'd trade it in for Uncharted in a heartbeat if I could, but I've been more excited for Uncharted for a long time. Early release for Uncharted my ass, I've called at least a dozen stores a few times in the last few days looking for it! *shakes fist at retailers*

I quite like AC so far, the annoying parts of it are mostly skippable and the glitchy stuff isn't as annoying as it was. Performance is still barely acceptable on PS3, but at least it runs like shit while looking amazing and creating a giant environment. The random ai hangups and bugs are one thing but it has frozen 3 times on me, which is just ridiculous in a console game.

Get Uncharted, it will help increase sales and reduce the whining we get when the NPDs hit and a major exclusive PS3 title has sold poorly.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, guys. Much appreciated.

Don't let the shills manipulate you. Uncharted is an excellent game, but so is Assassin's Creed. Make your decision based on what type of experience you expect, spectacular action-platformer with Uncharted or flawed masterpiece with AC.

Buy both

According to Metacritic, Uncharted is 87% awesome, while Assassin's Creed is 85% awesome. Therefore, Uncharted is 2% more awesome than Assassin's Creed.

Case closed.

I hate to keep complaining about it, but it's worth pointing out that AC is noticeably less awesome on PS3. I think some of you picking AC might have played it on 360, trust me when I say the PS3 version's framerate woes aren't the only difference between the two, just the most obvious. I don't normally care that much about fps or it's bastard child screen tearing in 3rd person games, but like I said the performance is acceptable at best. And from what I've read the 360 version runs better and is less buggy to boot.

Still a flawed great game, if it ran well I'd probably consider it a 9/10 sort of experience.

Coming from the dude who claims that Uncharted comes nowhere near Assassin's Creed in terms of graphics, do you honestly think you should be putting "shill" labels on others?

Uncharted by far.

Shit, I was really pumped for AC but now I'm thinking of skipping it and going straight for Uncharted : Drake's Excellent Adventure.

Holy shit people, stop giving advices when you didn't even play the damn games !

Altogether...> Art is subjective. Live with it. And me commenting the visuals of the game has nothing to do with my opinion on gameplay / quality, I really love Uncharted. Don't mix everything.

Holy shit dude, stop acting upset when you wouldn't give half a shit about fair evaluations if it was Uncharted that was at the risk of losing one sale.

Uncharted. Opinion on it seems to be more consistent (in a good way) than with AC.

Certainly so when you take into consideration that he's looking at the Ps3 version of AC. Unless people in the official thread are lying and exaggerating the severity of the issues, it doesn't sound like a very solid version. Both versions seem to have issues, but judging from the comments, AC PS3 is definitely not a polished experience.

Because Uncharted doesn't need to be defended. It's a solid and spectacular game, very well crafted, but the fact is, you know where you're going. In the other hand, Assassin's Creed needs support because it's a more experimental experience, where the pleasure doesn't come from where you'd expect it to come. That's why I'm very defensive on this game. I don't mind people not liking it, I just don't the want the game to be destroyed based on random reviews, because I think it's an important game, maybe one of the most important games this generation so far. And not because I'm afraid of "losing one sale". This last comment of you says more about you than it does about me, by the way.

If it's very important to you that the game succeeds based on its concept, then you'd do best in pushing Ubi towards actually releasing finished and polished games as opposed to buggy, poorly performing software. Ubi has always had great concepts in games, but the company has also almost always allowed its games to be shipped with significant flaws and poor performance. If someone had bothered criticizing the company for its poor efforts in the past this might have been changed in time for Assassin's Creed. Instead, you get a game with no great version, and with one version that is by most [gamer] accounts down right broken. Do you honestly think this is something they should be rewarded for? Great concepts are, well, great, but it doesn't mean a whole lot when the end product is described by some as borderline unplayable.

I don't care about what Ubi is rewared for. I'm concerned about games, not companies. And it's not true that there is no great version. I, for one, hasn't experienced one single issue with the 360 version of the game except for some slowdowns and tearing, but hey, Uncharted has them too. It doesn't keep the game from being great, as far as I know. And I'm glad this mentality wasn't applied to, for exemple, Shadow of the Colossus, which was a mess but most importantly a masterpiece. I know the PS3 version of AC has serious problems, but it's still a great game and in that regard it deserves to be defended against so-called recommendations from people who haven't even touched the game. And that will be my last comment concerning this matter.

I can only rate them based on graphics and developer pedigree, so I'd say go with Assassin's Creed, since it's superior in both. :D
Developer pedigree and you say ubisoft's superior somehow this doesn't make any sense....Naughty dog wipes the floor with them they are far and beyond a better developer, and I'm sorry having played my buddies copy of AC with him (the 360 version) I'm going with uncharted in the graphics department as well.

*edit* sorry for derailing the thread into a possible war, but damn it's true. Get Uncharted and you won't be disappointed.

You see, this is why I don't understand where you're coming from here. What fucking defense? Defense of what? I suggested that he get Uncharted for fucks sake. If you want to cry about people posting problems about the PS3 version of AC then take it up with them, not me.

I returned my copy of AC for the PS3 because of the problems people were having with that version. If it was just one or two people or Dark10x I probably wouldn't have even bothered to return it but there were numerous reports from people that I don't believe have any axes to grind and Blim himself stated that they're noticable differences. I'm going to take their word thank you very much. It has nothing to do with any bias you fucking 'tard....well, 'cept for being biased toward the best version.

*sigh*

I miss the old GAF.

AC really isnt that bad on ps3, its def playable, and it looks as good as the 360 version...still, of you have a 360 get that one...just, saying, it certainly isnt unplayable, or even poor, on ps3....its a pretty spectacular looking game...

Id choose uncharted out of the two, but Id recommend getting both honestly

uncharted doesnt have slowdowns in the sense that AC does. You cant really compare the two...

that being said, i cant wait to try both...

What games 'wipe the floor' with Chaos Theory and Sands of Time? You'd be hard pressed to find any developer who could make that kind of boast.

My initial response was tongue-in-cheek, but I'm serious, if you like Ubi Montreal's games, you'll probably enjoy AC. And it's the best looking game I've ever seen in motion, largely due to the 'everything casts a shadow' lighting system, the procedural animation, and the vast cityscapes.

Ok biatch here's the deal, I actually played both, AC on 360 and Super Mega Awesome Uncharted. The fact that I didn't pay $60+ for AC doesn't make my opinion any less valid.

k?

Coolies.

Except Ubisoft Montreal (and the Quebec city studio for handheld) has to make countless games every year, for every imaginable platform, in all sorts of genre (from action adventure to FPS to casual games and more to come). It's not a logical comparison.

I'm not going to argue with you people it's personal preference I've played both I liked AC but in terms of presentation, gameplay and graphics I think Uncharted is better.

@ sho nuff, you trying to say that Uncharted doesn't have that same shadow effects, I can't think of one thing that doesn't cast a shadow in this game.\

Both games are great, but support Uncharted (first at least) so that we may be able to make this thread again with AC2 and UDF2. Because we already know AC2's gonna get made.

And they're always incredibly unpolished. Which is basically a trademark of UBI games in general.

I have both....and I'm returning AC ASAP, not even going to bother to finish the game, not worth $60. Meanwhile I can't stop playing Uncharted......I love every minute !!!!!, the story, the gameplay and the sound is just pure AWESOME!!!!

even the jet ski part that almost everyone bitch about was awesome for me......now imagine the jeep scene...I LOVE IT!!

I'm going Back to the game, need to finish this at least 3 times before mass effect and rock band next week................

The jeep chase is certainly one of the best experiences in the game. It's probably my favorite vehicle sequence ever.

I've defended ACreed on many occassions, and posted some glowing reviews especially in the Official ACreed thread. I support the IP, it's something the industry needs that it's not a FPS and not a sports game. But, there's no way that A.Creed holds a candle to the overall fit, finish and quality of Uncharted. Uncharted is an EPIC game that doesn't do one thing great, it does everything great.

I understand you're on a crusade, which is fine. But put some effort into doing the same with Uncharted. There's not a shadow of doubt in my mind if it was an 360 exclusive, it would be heralded as the second coming. I'm not joking, I'm dead serious at this point. How can anyone give this game a 9 for graphics, especially when other games are getting 9's and 10's in the same department that have nothing on U:DF? How is this game getting 9-9.5's for sound while others got 10 and it's no where near the quality as Uncharted sounds at a level where the best movies hit. It's a dead give away what's going on in the media trying to influence the industry.

As far as A.Creed. I love the game, but it's flawed, and it's bugged. It's such a GREAT concept, I just wish a more talented dev would've came up with it. Ubisoft this gen hasn't been very inspiring to say the least.

Now that I have played the game I too wonder why there are no perfect scores for Graphics and sound, but I guess that's because is a ps3 exclusive. That jeep scene and the jet ski upstream segment are just phenomenal!!! and the jeep chase segment....OH MY GOD!!!,

This below game also got a 9 in graphics, and it sure doesn't look or animates as beautiful as uncharted.

9.0 Graphics
Despite a few moments of slowdown, this is a gorgeous game, especially considering the demands of the replay function. And it's to die for in 1080p.
