So, I started getting high a few years ago...
Was never massively into Cannabis until I discovered vaporising and edibles.

Over the years weed has definitely influenced my tastes in music.
I mainly used to listen to hip hop and some metal but recently I've found my taste changing.

I've always liked Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss but have had a real urge to listen to more of this kind of stuff.

I'm looking for something a bit more chilled, not as loud, but music that sounds like it belongs in the desert. I like blues tinged music and impressive guitar work. Don't mind if it gets a bit psychedelic either so long as it's quite 'rocky'. Basically I waht to get high and feel like I'm driving around in the desert...

To give you an idea of other bands that I like (but aren't stoner rock/metal)

Led Zeppelin
The Black Keys
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The White Stripes
Jimi Hendricks
Wolfmother
Tool

I love Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss as well.

Any good recommendation?

Some of these aren't necessarily metal, but I think they fit the bill anyway based on what you like.

Arctic Monkeys
Hevisaurus
The Decemberists
Coheed and Cambria
Cage the Elephant
Led Zeppelin
Moon Taxi
Protomen
Them Crooked Vultures (Especially since you like QOTSA)

I'll suggest:

Fu Manchu - pure stoner rock

and The Brew - awesome lose rock

You don't want any SKA? No 311? No The Supervillians?

ooooooo

bomb the music industry
operation ivy
arrogant sons of bitches
the specials
streetlight manifesto
the expendables
mustard plug

though none of that stuff is really what the OP is looking for

My favourite band right now is Clutch, does get loud with the latest album but earlier stuff better fits your description

Yeah was thinking of getting into Clutch next as heard they're pretty good.
Any albums in particular that you'd recommend since they have a few.

Electric Wizard - Dopethrone a quintessential doom/stoner metal album. Essential listening.

EDIT: You should also look into Sunn O))).

Really records is his new record label thing. pretty sure the shirts were made to order. I'm sure he will have more in the near future as the sites only been around for a little bit. I ordered vacation on vinyl from them too. Guessing it's being run out of his apartment.

oh nooooo :( oh well. i'll have to keep watching the site for anything new. i still don't have a BTMI! shirt and it pisses me off.

Hey dude!

I'll just recommend what I love in the stoner genre.

You can start with Black Sabbath, because, you know. Sabbath. Especially Master of Reality, if stoner is what you want.

My favourite artists:

High on Fire (Stoner-Metal)
Mastodon (Progressive Metal)
Fu Manchu (Fuzzed out stoner kings)
American Sharks (New, punk-influenced stoner three piece)
ASG (clean and heavenly, while heavy as fuck)
Baroness (Prog-Sludge outfit)
Black Cobra (Dirty Sludge)
Black Spiders (Rock 'n' Roll)
Black Tusk (Sludge- Metal)
Cough (Stoner-doom Metal)
Doomriders (Punk-infused rock 'n' Roll. One of my favourite bands of all time)
Dozer (Stoner Swedes)
Electric Wizard (Classic Stoner-Doom band. Check this)
Goatsnake (Stoner-rock/metal with great clean vocals)
Horisont (Stoner/Rock with mighty soaring vocals)
Kylesa (Sludge-Metal, now more of a proto psych sludge band. Good shit.)
Monster Magnet (Stoner-rock from the fucked up mind of Dave Wyndorf)
Orchid (Sabbath revival, but really good)
Pentagram (Bobby Liebling's legendary, underrated band, you don't want to miss this)
Red Fang (Modern Stoner-Metal)
Sasquatch (Stoner Rock)
Sleep (Slow, doomy)
Torche (Pop Sludge. Very accessible)
Truckfighters (Incredibly fuzzy and riff feuled stoner rock)
Turbowolf (British rock 'n' roll with some electronic touches)
Weedeater (Stoner-Metal)

Check out youtube for channels like this: Obey The Riff or use Last.fm to get you some good recommendations.

Look, if you are interested in more, I write for a stoner-rock blog. Hit me up in P.M. if you have any questions!

I can't really stand to listen to them anymore but there is Electric Wizard, they're more like industrial stoner metal but I think they're kind of intense. They're like a really twisted version of black sabbath.

Also there is this other neat band called Sleep, not a very unique name but they've got this awesome tune.

fucking Boris bro

That's all you need. Nice choices.

Check out desert sessions by Josh Homme. It's exactly the vibe you're looking for.

Other than that butthole surfers and some Tom Waits may do the trick.

I second Dozer. The lead singer for Clutch guests on the Beyond Colossal album.

Also, Open Hand is a great band that fits into what you're looking for. Criminally unnoticed.
