Help me justify my decision (selling my PS4)

You already choose your way... sell the PS4.

Now just a curiosity... what do you mean with input lag? Xbone's controller has more dead zones and it is less precise than DS4... the input lag in both are the same.

I really didn't understand your comment.

What do you mean? The DS4 has more input lag and is most certainly less precise than the Xbox One controller.
/s

Do you actually have facts to back this up?

I was in a similar boat recently because I barely play the thing and most games have been disappointments. But there's some good stuff coming out this year and selling would be foolish, especially if you're looking forward to any of the exclusives.

Honestly, if given the choice, the PS4 would/should be the console to go.

Not only for all the reasons you listed, but depending on the type of gamer you are, the exclusive game library on the Xbox just seems a better fit for the less hardcore gamer.

The console itself has more flexibility, more USB ports with none being on the front, HDMI in, external hard drive options and as you mentioned, the better media capabilities.

It's just overall the more balanced console. Add to that, Windows 10 (for games and TV) and App streaming (for TV). It just does a lot. Unless there's any games you absolutely can't live without on PS4 (I'd struggle to not have the chance to play God of War) then yeah sell the PS4.

I've never sold a single game or system. Not sure why I would. The depreciation on videogames and systems is terrible so its almost never worth the small amount of money you get back.

But then again I'm a huge collector of games, and love all things gaming. So I'm probably not the one to comment.

.,,or tell me I'm nuts.

I have a PS4 and an Xbox One. Why do I want sell a one of them? 2 reasons:
1. Time. I have so little time for gaming. Spreading that time across two consoles seems silly.

2. I have a kid that within a year or two will be ready to play games. I want Nintendo games to be his first gaming experience. So getting rid of one console makes room for a Wii U or NX.

Deciding which console has to go is harder. My reasons to sell the PS4 is:
1. My family use the Xbox for media (Blu-Ray, YouTube, Netflix etc.). We use XO because it supports our Harmony remote 100%

2. I love the XO controller. I like DS4, but it doesn't feel as good in my hands and I have trouble with input lag.

3. Backward compatibility. I don't own a 360 or PS3 anymore and there are a lot of last gen titles I missed out on or would like to replay.

4. For some reason my Xbox One connects better wih my WiFi. My PS4 is sloooow.

I do know that PS4 is the surperior HW in terms of power, but I hardly notice the difference. VR is a selling point for PS4, but I don't see myself using it even if it's cool.

So guys, how crazy am I?

Sounds like good reasons to stay with the X1 for sure.

Kind of sounds like you already justified your decision on your own. Seems rational, as long as there aren't any particular software reasons why you'd largely regret it further down the line. One of those 2 consoles along with a Nintendo console is a great package to have. Much better than both and no Ninty.

You've already decided to sell the PS4 for very subjective reasons, which are your prerogative, but I would like to point out that this is a very bad reason. You don't spread time for gaming across consoles, you spread it across games. The amount of consoles you have has no impact on that equation.

And on that note...

3. Backward compatibility. I don't own a 360 or PS3 anymore and there are a lot of last gen titles I missed out on or would like to replay.

This reason is incompatible with the aforementioned one about having little time to play and/or your belief that multiple platforms somehow affects that.

Backwards compatibility is massively asked for even tho I don't think it will generally be used that much. But in your case, since you're planning on introducing your kid to games soon, it might be a net positive for you (start with the classics !).

HW difference doesn't mean that much. Look at the upcoming exclusives for both systems, and decide if the difference confirms/offsets the edge your XBO has, being the family media center and the controller preference.

The XBO looks like a clear winner in your scenario. And kudos for getting a WiiU/NX for your kid, that will be a great introduction to games.

I have also preferred the Xbox One up until this point, but the PS4 is getting ready to take off into orbit with the games. I am betting you will regret it at some point.

Do you need the money? Will the money you get from selling a used Ps4 change your life in any way? Does the Ps4 cause you inconvenience by owning it? I.E. not enough space, hdmi cables, receiver connections, etc. If you answer no to these questions I don't see why you wouldn't just keep it around for the exclusives because they are starting to pick up steam this year and beyond plus you might see something you like for PSVR in the future.

At the very least wait until you play Uncharted 4, if you enjoy that franchice. I have a feeling it's going to be awesome.

He already swore off PSVR, "even if it's cool".

I sold my PS4 also. Only had time for one console. I'll probably rebuy this year, but if I had to pick one it'd still be the Xbox (due to friends). It seems maybe you want confirmation that is ok.

It is ok for a gamer to own an Xbox over a PS4. I promise.

PS4 2016 lineup is borderline insane. If you want to sell your PS4 at this point go ahead, it wont ever get much better.

Ive been considering selling mine too. Nothing compelling going on with that console. But I dont sell my stuff on principle, but yea id be right there with u.

I will tell you for a fact that right now, if you sell it, you will make some money.

If you don't sell it, you will not make money.

The decision is yours, my friend... Choose wisely.

Just sell it (or the xbone) because there's absolutely no point (my opinion) in owning multiple systems. There's so many games released that you will always have something to play and if the PS4 isn't getting much use then there are plenty of people out there who would enjoy it much more than you.

Personally I would ditch the xbone but it appears you've already made up your mind there. Either way get rid of one of them.

Sell both and get a PC. Buy an X1 controller and adapter for it. MS are bringing most of their first party games to PC it seems. Gears 4, Scalebound, Forza 6 and Forza Horizon 3 all heavily rumoured. I'm never that guy but that's the better option to do if you could put a bit of money to it.

You're not crazy at all. I'm debating it for the NX too. At one point I had all the handhelds and consoles plus PC and I just didn't have the time to get to all the games.

PS4 wifi chip is laughably bad that's why your Xbox connects better.

The controller is better imo and you like it too. It's already being used for multimedia so why not?

Also, I'm guessing you're not big on jrpgs since those are the exclusives the PS4 is getting that the Xbox isn't getting (maybe NX will get some).

And eventually many bc titles will be on Xbox one. No word on that for PS4.

Go for it.

Doesn't sound like he "swore off" to me. Just he doesn't see himself using it. but that can change if he saw a game in the future he really likes.

I mean you aren't going to get a ton of money for a used Ps4 and it isn't bothering you so why not keep it around for the exclusives? Xbox one exclusives are holiday stacked. Ps4 has some for the first half. It's not like the exclusives timing is overlapped. This way you have something to play all year round. Just my $.002.

Sell both and buy a tablet and 100$ worth of microtransactioms in Clash of Clans. If your child really is an argument in this ...damn, those kids are hooked to this shit like it's crystal meth.

Noticed you didn't talk about games. Which ones do you like?

Just noticed that also. If games just aren't that interesting to you anymore and you just use your xbox one for streaming then the best thing to do is sell all your consoles, buy the nx for your kid, and get a smart tv.

OP says he can't spread his time across multiple consoles but then states he doesn have a last gen console to play his old games. So he was already set on playing his old games on old consoles and new games on the new console.

Contradiction.

Again, you seem set on selling it so just sell it.
