He sounds desperate, and she might be cool. I'd obviously try to talk him out of it, but it will definitely provide for a very interesting, and entertaining situation to observe so let him go for it. At the very least, regardless of how the marriage ends up, they are both helping each other out which isn't all that bad.

I have a Cambodian friend who always talked about bringing us back to Cambodia so we could find girls who would want to "marry" and split the big government lump sum given to us for whatever reason. I can't remember the details but it sounded like a good deal for only having to fake a marriage for a year or so.

They dont even speak the same language enough to know if she is cool. He just said "She laughs a lot when we talk" I cant help but feel shes laughing at him instead of with him.

With all due respect I find this as far as possible from an "entertaining situation"

It sounds like these sorts of anecdotes don't actually fit with the data.

The article didn't mention how many years of data is available. If it is 3 years like another poster mentioned, I wouldn't rely on that. Unlike marrying a citizen that already have a job and speak the language. Mail-order bride need time to learn the language, adopting to the new environment before a divorce is even possible. That may take a few years.

Edit: oh nm you and other already pointed this out.

Even if she goes against the odds and is actually looking for a happy long term marriage, I have some pretty serious doubts a guy who made his own dating bot will be good husband material. I also have doubts that such a guy will listen to reason. All I can think of is pre-nup, and be there for the probable crash when she leaves him.

If she can't understand him; she's laughing to sound agreeable. I don't think she's laughing at him.

I find the fact that he made a bot for dating sites far more troubling than getting a mail order bride.

He either doesn't know how to talk to women, or he just doesn't care enough about them to make the effort.
