I dont know. I mean, he took Double's Twin Maximum Drive and the team's Double Rider Kick without having his memory broken. So he still comes out looking like a badass. Plus, showing that he can be defeated this early is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Now, rather than the usual of building him up to be impossible only to watch him get rofl-stomped by Double's upgrade, it won't feel like total bullshit when he jobs.

Also, Saeko is a cold bitch. Just giving out Kirihiko's robe like that. :'(

Yeah that was coldblooded. I wonder if she will give him the leveled up Nasca memory. And if he is loaded up with memories will they have to keep doing memory breaks on him or just one big one?
 
So I did a search on GAF regarding power rangers, and holy shit.

Wow, are people that stupid?

People hail MMPR as the "best", even though when asked why, they only refer to it because of their fond childhood memories. But when asked about quality? They couldn't tell. Space and RPM are good examples of quality yet they are bashed because "they never watched them".

Sometimes I want to kill humanity - same reason as to why Daiki came to pictue. :(

I mean really, I'd take RPM's writing than Ren and Stimpy.
 
To bad i kinda feel out of PR when DT finished. And no i wasent in DT for Tommy mostly because i love Dinos and i liked the return of the HS setting. Er toku thread right can i mention Pretty Cure then? Gotta love magical girls flying around beating the crap out of people with there fists.
 
Just stumbled across this thread.

I recently saw a couple of the slightly edited MMPR shows their airing on ABC kids. Man it's terrible. Looking back, David Yost was such a shitty actor.

As for toku, I've been out of the loop for a while. The last stuff I watched was Ultraman Nexus, Kamen Rider Den-O, and Sentai Boukenger. It's hard for me to keep up with everything.

Watched my Blu-ray of the new Ultra movie last night; my friends who were bigger Ultra fans than me were geeking out big time at a lot of it; I found it highly entertaining, as it's basically 90 minutes of fighting with a few breathers for plot. Blu-ray looked and sounded great, and I liked all the design stuff they threw in the extras.
 
Okay TokuGAF. I have the urge to get into Kamen Rider now (oddly enough after finding out about Linkara's Season-by-Season video analysis of Power Rangers from That Guy with the Glasses/Nostalgia Critic fame).

But where in the world do I start? From what I can recall, I think Hibiki is the bad one but I dunno. Anyway, I know that Masked Rider was based off of Black RX. I have also heard that 555 and Black were pretty good, but this is all going off of faulty memory from convos with some tokusatsu fans I knew 4+ years ago.
 
If you are willing to invest, go look for Black.

If you want to "start", you can start at Heisei era Kuuga, and work your way up to Ryuuki. I really can't "appreciate" the rest though.

To be fair, hibiki isn't bad, just badly directed. Its a bipolar series, so your milage may vary. Faiz is a good choice, id also advise kuuga and agito, and if you are looking for something a bit on the lighthearted side, id advise den-o. Kabuto is a must, though
 
And Hibiki wasn't meant to be a KR show originally.

Ryuuki is amazing - it actually tries to be different, for one thing.

The current series Kamen Rider W is really good. It has sort of a Big-O meets Kamen Rider vibe.
 
I blame that for turning Digimon into Sentai!

jk! but even so... bandai really isn't too subtle with merchandising nowadays
 
Hey i love his design there. I've been kinda out of Double for a bit but i will cacth up!. Mostly been into Goseiger that's slowly improving as the show goes on (What i expected from the Geki writer acutally and that became one of my favs..) And Heart cacth Precure (That has very good writing for such a girly show.
 
Just watched Movie Wars. My quick thoughts on each part.

Decade: Fuck whoever was in charge of writing the ending for Decade. Seriously. Also, I guess Tackle will never be considered a Kamen Rider. She didn't even turn into a cool card. :'( Plot misgivings aside, it was fun. As much as I love my boys Sky Rider and Ryuki, the ways in which Decade killed them was bad ass. Though, given J, Super-1, and Sky Rider making appearances, I have to wonder why the older riders weren't included in the final battles. I mean, Decade killed them too.

W: Once again, W shines. I was expecting a few more scenes in the flashback, namely Cyclone/Joker's first fight, but eh. Skull is awesome.

Movie War: This whole thing seemed to work on weird dream logic, even for KR. How did Double even get there? Were they fighting in Futo or something? And the way they took down the tank...."Hey, let's hijack it! HEAT! HOLY SHIT! It worked! Damn we're good." Still a fun watch.

All in all, I liked what I saw.

Sidenote: I really hate that Super Climax took Liner's spot in the final form team up. Yes, SC is technically Den-O's final form, but this

Oh sir these words indicate fisticuffs I say. Looking back I enjoyed the fact DiEnd was a jerk he gave me someone to hate in the series for reason.
 
DiEnd was a walking character hole though. You can't get his motive, his side flipflops, and has shitty plot convenience.
 
Wow I didn't realize this thread is still going (quite) strong. I'll post impressions of my latest watch:

Movie Wars 2010 (Decade): What in the name of fuck. Nevermind a proper ending to the franchise's anniversary show, it wasn't even a proper movie. Random things appearing out of nowhere, enemies do not have a motivation, etc. It's like some drunk dude saw a bunch of cool costumes and decided to have a movie about it. It doesn't even have the nostalgic value of All Riders vs Dai-Shocker, which is also bad but was saved by nostalgia goggles. "Decade has no story", ha.

Begin's Night: Was good. It SHOULD be longer, but the Decade chapter took too much time I guess. It really felt like a normal W epsiode though. And Skull is the best movie rider ever.

Movie Wars 2010: :lol :lol :lol :lol doesn't make any sense, doesn't have any cool stunts. The only good thing is unmasked Skull and his SkullBoilder at the end.

Ultra Galaxy Legend: now this is a better movie involving nostalgia and new elements. The stunts were cool, too. It does have some WTF moment like what was Dyna doing there, but overall I like it.

Kamen Rider W remains the best post-Hibiki KR I watched. Yes it has shitloads of gimmicks and gadgets and toys but at least it has an intriguing story. I'm afraid CyclonJoker Extreme will be overused, though, let's see how it plays from now.

im sure it isnt canon, but in spirits stronger specifically asks that she isnt designated one so that she doesn't have the kamen rider curse around her and she can rest in peace.

Yeah, I know. I just finished reading Spirits actually (well, what little is translated), but still. She's so cool, and female riders are such a rarity that it kinda sucks that the first official one was movie exclusive (Femme). In fact, most of them are movie exclusive. Would it really be such an awful thing to make a girl rider a regular cast member, Toei?

Still say that Tackle could have at least gotten a card.

That, and female riders dont seem to last long, or are inferior. Look at faiz and femme. The funny thing is that the most impressive female rider was that of an adaptation of one. Vixen was impressive.

I actually decided to do a google search on it for lolz, and the only females who were the official owners of their rider powers were Tackle (including her for argument's sake) from Stronger, Femme/Siren from Ryuki/Dragon, L'arc from Blade, Shuki and Fubuki from Hibiki, and Kivarra from Decade. Then, there were cases like Ixa and the Faiz belts managing to find themselves on female operators while getting passed around to just about anyone.

So that's about, what, 6? In about 30 years? For shame, Toei.
 
Well their main market are boys. Sadly much like US, Japan's females are that magical girl shit.

Precisely - the gender demographic will always downplay those that don't belong to the demographic.
 
He was one of the main characters. He had whole story arcs. He saved Sailor Moon on multiple occasions. He was the main love interest in a love story. C'mon guys. Show my boy some love.

I mean sure, once the end of the season came, he was usually ineffectual, but everyone was. It was always pretty much "Let's watch the usually inept Sailor Moon go God Mode and OHKO the big bad."
 
He seemed to be only important in the first few seasons and when he became that white Arabian warrior though.

I'm not really feeling OOO's design, aside from the retractable claws. The rumor about him looting monsters for money, and buying power ups from a vending machine is hilarious though.
 
In all honesty, the only rider designs that instantly clicked with me were kabuto and hibiki. The others had to grow on me some. But for some reason, i really like OOO's design.
 
Always nice to see the old Toku thread bumped. OOO is such a dumb name. I like the design. It manages to be eye-catching without being gaudy. This will probably change when the ultimate form is revealed. :(

Oh yeah, Goseiger added its sixth to the lineup not too long ago. He's.....just as uninteresting as the rest of them. Nothing to see, folks.
