I know we are in OT land but whatever do you mean sir?
There's nothing coming out that I have any interest in playing until Deus Ex at the end of August and then nothing until November.

I can't even remember when Kamen Rider Generations is coming out. Maybe I'll import that.

I think KRG is august, shame you might be bored in such a large gap. I myself have so many choices and then November is Ultimate MvC3.

Eh. Classes start back up in August, so it just means I'll be plenty busy between that, work, and... I guess Gokaiger and Thundercats? I don't think I'm going to watch Fourze

Champions Online is keeping me busy. Gokaiger is always watch, along with Digimon Xros Wars, Looney Tunes Show and Regular Show. Not too interested in Thundercats.

I been thinking about the second rider in Fourze. I am hoping for either a sports theme or a UFO theme.
A brutish American football themed rider would be awesome. When was the last time they had a built Rider rather than a slim guy? Date was kind of built but that's stretching it

Just started getting into Tokasatsu the past week and I'm having a blast. Thumbed through the past few pages and saw this:

Gokaiger is precisely the reason I'm now into Tokusatsu. I was quickly hooked after being shown some clips of it and having the premise explained to me. I've never seen any other Super Sentai show before, but I still loved Gokaiger. One Piece is one of my favorite manga series and Gokaiger gives of a strong One Piece vibe to me, so that alone made me want to watch it. The only really confusing part about watching Gokai w/out prior super sentai knowledge is keeping track of which suits are from which series, although the awesome announcer + ED song did help with that a bit.

Now I am planning on watching as much of the various series as I can find subbed, simply because of how much I enjoyed their representations in Gokaiger. I decided to do Goseiger first because I've heard a lot of negative feedback on it and wanted to get it out of the way. However, I must say that after 10 or so episodes I unexpectedly started getting into it quite a bit. I just now finished watching the second episode of the
Matrintis
arc and almost everything from the end of the first arc, throughout the end of the second had me hooked and wanting to see more when the episode ended. I like the characters in Gokai much more, but I'm still really liking Gosei and I hope the series quality stays high until the end.

How far are you in Gokaiger? This sounds odd, but if you're planning to watch Shinkenger, I think you shouldn't watch Gokaiger episodes 11-12. One of the most enjoyable things about me watching it was not being spoiled, and unfortunated Gokaiger 11-12 does do that if you haven't watched Shinkenger before. It's up to you, but I'd say Shinkenger definitely had one of the biggest and best surprises I've seen in a series. =)

They will never do that in modern toku primarily because of the apparent need to bait fangirls.

I was thinking Football Mode= Strength/Power, Baseball= Long range baseball bombs and the bat turns into a gun and Soccer= Speedmode.

His belt could say stuff like "Touchdown!", "Grandslam", and "GOALLLLLL!"

You mean painfully obvious need

Yeah.

It makes me wonder if women actually watch the show, and if they do, watch it not for the effeminate idol but rather the action.

Kotaro Minami was definitely the last one who didn't look like a twink.

I thought one of the reasons Den-o was meapopular was that it had a large housewife following?

Kuuga and Hibiki didn't look that much of a twink.

To add to the choice of Kamen Rider leads, I'm not saying pretty boy models are all bad. It comes down to the character in the end. If that's well done, I will overlook that myself.

Ah yeah, Kuuga lead was pretty good too. Never watched Hibiki though.

I thought it was because it clicked with the children?

More Kamen Rider Fourze Information

With the release of next month's issues of Hyper Hobby and TOEI Hero Max magazines, more Kamen Rider Fourze information was revealed. This basically confirms the existence of “Kamen Rider urban legend” that was rumored before.

Kamen Rider Fourze’s base form is called “Base States”, which is accessed when Gentaro uses the space energy inside the Astro Switches. It’s stats are as followed:

Height: 200cm
Weight: 95kg
Punch strength: 2.1t
Kick strength: 6.3t
Jump power: 20m in one jump
Speed: 100m in 6.2s
Special Attack: Rocket Drill Kick (Stratosphere Kick): 15t

Kamen Rider Fourze’s exclusive bike is the Machine Masshigler. Although, that’s just what Gentaro named it. It’s official name is “ORB-40F”It uses hydrogen as fuel and doesn’t release any CO2. The Astro Switches are the sources of Fourze’s powers. These switches hold an unknown energy called “Cosmic Energy”.

Fourze’s Module 1, the Rocket Module:
A rocket is equipped on his right arm. By enabling the Exhaust Thruster, Fourze can add up another 4 t to his punches.

Fourze’s Module 2, the Launcher Module:
He can shoot 5 missiles from his right leg.

Fourze’s Module 3, the Drill Module:
It’s equipped on his left leg. It’s spins around 200 rpm.

Fourze’s Module 4, the Radar Module:
By using this module, Fourze can give his Launcher Module homing missiles. He’s also able to reflect certain waves.

Fourze’s Module 5, the Magic Hand Module:
The Magic Hand is equipped on his right hand, which gives him an extra 10 m reach.
The end of the Magic Hand is called the “End Effect Pliers” which can lift up any object up to 6 t.

The Zodiarts use switches that are very different from Fourze’s. These are called “Zodiart Switches”. A human can use this to turn into a Zodiart. The Scorpion Zodiart is actually one of the stronger monsters, who suddenly shows up in Amanogawa High School.

In episode 1 and 2, someone will use the Orion Switch to turn into the Orion Zodiart. He uses a giant club called Lemnos and a shield called Chios, named after two Greek islands.

Kengo Utahoshi received the Fourze Driver along with 40 Astro Switches from his dying father. He wishes to fight against the Zodiarts with the Fourze Driver, but due to his weak body he’s unable to fight. Kengo eventually gives Gentaro Kisaragi the belt when they meet. The heroine Yuki Joujima is actually Gentaro’s childhood friend who’s Kengo’s classmate. She calls herself a “space nerd” and Japan’s happiest schoolgirl.

I've seen all 22 eps of Gokai before I started Gosei. I'm guessing it's about
the female ShinkenRed
, otherwise IDK what I've been spoiled on, lol.

The magic hand sounds like it is based off the space shuttle's robo arm. Fuck yes human villains, I enjoy them so much more then straight monsters. Plus no one could look uncool while activating a memory/switch.

Well I finished Goseiger and while the series isn't great, at least I was able to enjoy it overall. Once things picked up, the plot moved along enough that I was at least interested enough to continue at the end of each episode (mostly due to
Buredoran
). Plus, it had my favorite "Monster of the Week" enemy so far: The Wakamoto Norio-voiced Zeibu of the Mummy.

I decided to watch Shinkenger next and I'm in love already. I'm only 5 episodes in right now, but the series feels far more focused and serious compared to Goseiger and Gokaiger. Takeru is such a damn badass, I love it. The rest of the group are cool too, a million times more interesting than the bland Goseigers were. There is some good comedy in it (Ryunosuke cracks me up and Mako's random cooking scene with her
slicing up the food with her weapon
caught me completely off guard) and I can see a great potential for character development in Chiaki and Kotoha. Also, I think my second fav "Monster of the Week" has to be Yanasudare from Episode 5; that Chain Gunblade was just too bawss and his entrance scene was sweet with him just popping up and mowing down buildings left and right with it.

Wait til you get to the sixth. Genta will change your life.

It's Blade Run, not Bureidoran. Same with Walz Gilz/Oiles Gilz, not Waruzu Giruzu.

Do not use kisama-tachi (TVN) subs.

At least, not when there's alternatives. They're okay for when there's no other options though (see: Tomica Heroes, half the modern Rider shows), and although I don't agree with a number of things they do I appreciate the effort all the same.

Speaking of subs, the v2s of Carranger 7-9 are now available from HaroRangers. Pretty sure that means their next release will be completely new content (or did they get up to 10 before?).

Ah, I just went with the name on Wikipedia. Anyways, I could tell TVN do a very weeaboo style of subbing and, from watching Gokai, I liked the way Over-Time subs handled thing more. I just don't know of too many sub groups for Sentai shows, so I have just been going with what I do know.

The only groups I've found so far are: Over-Time, TVN, Gao Soul Forever, Skewed, Hawkstorm (which I think are just HK subs but I'm not 100%) and HaroRangers.

If you're starting Shinkenger, use Shinkenanon

Grown Ups in Spandex did Goseiger and are a decent alternative for Gokai, though Over-Time are great for that as it is (I tend to just grab whoever has the episode out first between GUIS and O-T) They're also doing Liveman, Jetman and Zyuranger. There's also Super Hero Time!, who are doing Timeranger and Battle Fever J.

In terms of other people cleaning up TV-N's subs, there's ShinkenAnon, as zoner mentioned, and Go-Anonger.

555reloaded is scrubbing Faiz as well as Geki

Oh, a few more groups that slipped my mind: Hikari Senshi are doing GoGo V and Kakuranger, Hi no Tori are doing Gingaman, and Ohranger's Marvelous Fansub Group had started, funnily enough, Ohranger, but haven't updated for a couple of months.

They probably fell asleep watching Ohranger like everyone else.

Shouldnt you get bored only halfway through? I thought it was "building up" in the first half.

I've embarked on my journey to watch every single Kamen Rider series(Not counting Masked Rider or Dragon Knight)

Now I'm not necessarily going to finish them all, but I'm going to watch them.

It probably will be a while, because I am planning on watching all of the Sentai series from Gaoranger to current in the next few months, but which are the Power Ranger series that are worth watching? From previous threads, and skimming through here, these are the ones I've seen people on GAF praise (to varying degrees):
Zeo, Turbo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force, Wild Force, Dino Thunder, S.P.D. and RPM.

Out of the Ones I've seen, the Series that hold up well are In Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force, Wild Force and RPM. I've only watched a few episodes from Dino Thunder - Jungle Fury, but I remember really hating what I did see of Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive. I'm not a fan of Samurai either.

If you're watching In Space, you may as well throw in the last few episodes of Turbo since they're not bad and lead directly into In Space.

Segata Sanshiro gets the best babes. Of course, when you beat SpiderMan AND BatMan in the first 2 episodes, certain things are expected
2dl1aqf.jpg

Also, I think I may drop sentai all together. It's just a little too cheesey to me, and I'm saying this while watching Showa era Kamen Rider.

As we said - go watch RPM!

Anything Showa > Heisei, Sentai or Rider really.

Hell, Jetman is one of the best Sentai to date and it's somewhat Heisei (early 90's)
