I've been watching some episodes almost every night before I go to bed on my 360 with Netflix, and I forgot how fun this show was. Back when it was still in syndication I would watch it on the weekends all the time and I still think its a good show even if it takes some big liberties with classical mythology. I used to watch Xena as well but I haven't dove into that series yet.

I'd say that the episode from season two where Iolaus has to serve as king in place of his identical cousin was the most entertaining of the episodes yet from what I've watched. Michael Hurst was pretty damn funny in this show as Iolaus.

y'know, i always assumes another gaf poster i know would eventually make this thread. but he'll show himself eventually. anyway, the show was great, until the started opening to other mythologies. that and iolaus dying twice was ridiculous.

Fuck YEAH ! I'm gay for Kevin Sorbo.

I can't stress enough how much I like the show. It was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid and it still holds up on it's own goofy way. It's too bad that I can't find rest of the seasons anywhere :(

Bruce campbell cameos were also great <3

One of my favorite episodes.

Funny this thread was made today, I just watched Bedtime Stories last night. I hadn't seen Lucy Lawless since the Xena days. Good to see she can still find work.

The first few seasons of this and the movies/mini-series were pretty darn good. I mean the effects and such were not top notch, but it was very entertaining and did a good job of mythology for the most part. The later stuff started to get a bit too zany and slapstick, but overall it is by far the best of its type with Xena (who started as a character on this show) a little bit behind and the rest of the crap (which I have blocked from memory) trailing far behind.

Hercules was fucking awesome. (minus everything after the fourth season where they decided to mix all the different mythologies. ugh)

For some utterly retarded reason, they have Young Hercules on Hulu but not the good one. Go figure.

Hercules and Xena was awesome. I got season three of Xena on DVD because Calisto was heavily featured in that season and she does commentary. But she wasn't as hot as I remembered as a kid. But luckily for me season three is considered the best of the series.

Probably my favorite live-action syndicated show of ALL TIME. I'd go ape-scat over a Blu-Ray release of the season sets... or even just a re-release of the DVDs.

Xena was mostly trash; I hated that it started taking the limelight away from Herc when its popularity exploded.

I watched an episode about a year ago somewhere and got a hair to buy the series. Found it on eBay and watched through all six seasons in about two months. The fifth season was a little odd with Herc travelling all over the wolrd after Iolas died. But it was a great series nonetheless.

Totally forgot Iolas died! I hated how xena ended, but I also loved how it ended. So torn! Gabriel became pretty cool though and she finally learned the one thing Xena refused to all those years - The Pinch!

yeah, I have all of the seasons on DVD too, I need to get Xena.

People always make fun of me as it's the only box set dvds that I own, but I know everyone who mentions it used to sit down every saturday and watch herc just as much as I did.

Dam I remember this show when it aired in my elementary school days.

I also remember when he hooked up with that Deer chick and then things went all Emo during that time.

Loved this show as a kid. Watched it every night it came on with my family.

Aphrodite was so god damned hot. Just give me 4 minutes and I'd rip that shit up.

I enjoyed Hercules more than Xena, but I still watched Xena more because of how god damned beautiful she was.

So true.

Personally I never did got in to Xena. I did watch it when I was kid but the main reason was probably big breasted womens in leather outfits fighting each other. My girlfriend has them all on dvd and she made me watch them 'cos I made her watch Hercules. And then it hitted me, I can't stand Xena. There were still hot chicks so I wasn't complaining all the time or telling what would Kevin "Hercules" Sorbo do in the same situation.

edit: I still have "Warrior... Princess... Tramp" epsiode from xena burnt in to my memory from my childhood... So much revealing outfits... :lol

Loved this show. Use to watch it every week and then talk to my dad about the episodes.

I also had a crush on Gabrielle from Xena.

I used to love the show Hercules. Fell in love with the movies (remember, was it Rising Sun? and Adventures of Capt. Zoom?) and was excited as hell when it became a series. Still love the movies. They were so intense...well...then...

However, I didn't watch it for a couple of seasons and tried to come back to see the final (or what I thought was the final) episode. However, it started off with a polka dot dragon that farted fire... I shut the tv off.

Alexandra Tydings was one of the greatest gifts ever too.

Also, though I never watched Kevin Sorbo's sci-fi show, I did catch one scene where someone describes him as a greek god.

they need to show this on syndication more (or they should show it on syndication, period. i have yet to see it anywhere on cable)

and yeah i have fond memories of herc and xena, too. though i remember the shows got a little too wonky near their end, especially hercules.

Xena went all over the place. Started out in Greece, then they died and became Angels and explored Christianity. Then they went east into India/China and got into the mysticism out there. I remember Hercules going opposite direction. They went into France/Britain/Ireland and all that. That Irish c hick was super annoying though!!

Who was the dark haired girl that was like Hercules childhood friend or some shit that could turn into a bird? Now she was hot, way hotter than Aphrodite.

Also, I loved Hercules until it became weird and starting going all over the place.

Xena's miniseries was cool because it was actually violent, her little chakra weapon would chop peoples heads off and shit then once it got syndicated all of a sudden it was no longer shard and just used as a blunt boomerang.

Xena never decapitated anyone. Even in the beginning it would routinely ricochet off multiple peoples faces and return to her hand.

She did find an upgrade along the way though!

Nah, it didn't go emo until the fifth season. Now that was some emo shit. But it was addicting. I ended up getting no sleep because I watched six episodes straight hoping Iolas was somehow survive.

Nemesis, the hitman (hitwoman?) of the gods that was later turned human and into a different actress. The second actress was hot, the third one, not so much.

check out Legend of the Seeker, based (incredibly loosely) on a book series: Sword of Truth. Chick on it is amazingly fine, and it is produced by the same guys as Hercules. Good random fun

I have all of those on my DVR, but haven't watched them yet. I saw the guy who played Jason in Hercules is in it. Has there been any word on a second season?

How many times did Iolaus died and revived? I lost count.
Once in the first movie. Herc used a candle to go back in time and save him.

The second time was in Samaria where he was killed. Then, the demon took posession of his body, while his spirit was in some unknown realm known as "The Light." Herc and Iolas fought and killed the demon, but because Iolas broke some sacred rule, he was punished by being returned to the land of the living.

Ah man, I loved this show as a kid. I used to wait for it saturday after the weekly cartoon block went off. Dont remember much about it though, except that Ares was a dick. A badass, but a dick none the less.

Early to mid Hercules was great stuff, same with Xena but they both started dropping off after awhile with all the craziness happening in the stories. Xena dropped off way faster and the whole lesbian angle that got introduced into the show because of the rabid fanwomen of the show really dragged it down.

Excuse me? I love me some lesbians just as much as any fangirl probably does, maybe more. I like to think they were pandering to my teenage tastes.

Yeah I didn't like the lesbian direction much either. I liked it when Hercules and Xena were love interests. Cross-over episodes were awesome.

You're missing one. He died when the second enforcer (the one made of fire) appeared and beat the hell out of him. ;)

It's truly a shame, both Hercules and Xena were great until they started mixing all the other stupid religions, with Michael the archangel and shit. Ugh.
