HoN have these too, you know.

but what HoN got is a stats system that shows ppl who got a lot of leaves, thus making it alot more easy for the host to kick those who got alot of leaves...

The Stats and pub-ranking really just increases the ass-holness all around. People kicking/banning because you have a low pbr, people kicking/banning because it's too high. Really brings the elitism to a higher level.

I see nothing wrong with this. Why play a game when you cant gain PSR at all? Me and my friends always kick people if the PSR gain is under 5 usually.

Kicking for really high PSR? Never do that. Its only more points to gain :D

I made a guy rage quit yesterday when i killed him with elementals as tempest at the start. Too funny... He was Thunderbringer too.

which gives the most awesome sound in any game ever made, cause then you (mostly) know that you raped someone good enough...

Actually, I have played 10 games so far, and HoN's "leaver level" is astronomically low compared to battle.net and even Garena. While my initial impressions of HoN are that it is missing some of the charm of DOTA's graphical style (even though HoN is absolutely beautiful), its "leaver level" alone is enough for me to play HoN exclusively (I purchased a copy). Trust me when I say that leavers are so absolutely awful on DOTA b.net right now that its not even worth it, and HoN appears, on face, to be the superior game when only taking this into account. Never mind all the other well thought out things it does.

Well that's the most abuse I've ever received in a game.

People force me to go mid, even after I tell them I suck and I don't know what to do. I then proceed to call every miss call on my opposite (thunderbringer), then when he ganks each of them two times (about 40 seconds after I called miss each time) they cursed "fucking mid isn't calling misses, isn't harassing, isn't ganking... I bet he has 0 creep kills" etc etc

When I say back "I told you not to make me go mid but I did call every miss (you could even see 4 lines of miss/re above the abuse!) and it wasn't me who fed him it was you guys who didn't pay attention."

And the usual comeback "... zomg middle ruined game for us"

Community fucking sucks in this game.

dont know what to say man. its a competitive online game. there are always going to be some dbags when you play in pugs in anything, and unlike a shooter, dota is one where it is really easy to just blame everything on teammates. dont let it ruin the game for you.

The community is what you make of it. Like any competitive online game, there's a bottomless pit of douche bags, but that only matters if you really let it get to you. The game is great fun regardless of the douche bags, and even more fun when you're playing with people that aren't douche bags.

Well pick and choose your games I guess. Play lower level games or GAF games when mint or Xemi aren't online. Oh and try not to get on Meteorain's team, he's real good but he'll ride you hard with his in-team trash-talking O_O

No, this is a good thing.

If you have low PSR, join low-PSR games. If you have a high PSR, join high PSR games.

It's usually easy to see beforehand if a game is geared towards your level. If you're having problems joining games, just make your own. I make all my games and kick people lots of times if they're of an inappropriate level if I'm hosting a "Noob" game.

Anyways, found my favorite hero. Magebane!

Ahahahahaha :lol

This game helps develop thick skin.

I am getting bitched at left and right...but I continue taking chances and trying to learn the game.

Reading guides has helped a lot as well.

The only thing is the learning curve is huge in this game....you really have to get to know all the characters and really learn to creep last hit/deny....

I think Thunderbringer is one of the easier characters to use. Not very item dependent and a start nuke spell.

Arachna is who I am trying to learn with at the moment, but she is very item dependent so I really need to learn to farm well despite getting harassed the whole game. She's very easy to kill and a bit target.

New Nymphora is so amazing, was playing her last night in the GAF games and didn't realize they changed her Grace spell to something similar to Keeper of Lights replenish.

Infinite Mana and a heal / stun / Teleport GG :lol

This. I was boosting Volatile Pod and Zeal and didn't think to put any levels into Grace until I hit level 10-ish. Then I read the description and was like zomg. You can run away, and Volatile + Grace will heal you so fast.

I think I'm getting the hang of 1v1 battles: you really need to be able to push towers since it's nearly impossible to gank. I actually lost a game as Nymphora because while I could hardly die, I lacked the ability to kill the opposing hero (Hammerstorm) and relied too much on creeps (fatal mistake late-game, when I was actually wailing on the base first but the Hammerstorm's ult + higher attack meant he beat me by a sliver.)

That +32 damage to non hero item is so good, was last hitting like mad when I used it with magebane

Its 32% base damage of your attack, its a must item for any melee fighter.

I wonder if it stacks with Abyssal Skull 15% base damage, having 47% increase of base damage against creeps would be awesome.

It just occurred to me that I have yet to see someone use Necrobook/Puzzlebox.

I wonder why there's such a drastic shift in item builds between DotA and HoN games. People are getting Savage Mace/MKB over Flayer/Buriza and only a few Int heroes actually get Totems/Guinsoos, most of them just rush Staff of the Master and then start stacking useless HP.

And I have to yell at people to get Dust. Stop whining about the Scout and carry some fucking dust!

Puzzlebox was never popular, even in DotA. Only Succ in HoN can ever get it reliably.

MKB has always been better than Buriza. SotM rushing is now a legit strategy in DotA too as well :P

necrobook was overused in Dota, the only "problem" with the necrobook was that it suddently required more micro management, and the leagues quickly solved that by only allowing 1 (or is it 2, cant remember) on every team...

oh and i am looking forward to a re-entry of Beastmaster, the true master of necrobook :)

I've never seen a pub Necrobook in DotA :O

EDIT:
Upcoming patch will be awesome!
I can't hype it enough :lol

I also really enjoy playing Magebane, but I feel like he's a really selfish pick in a game of single draft most of the time, especially if I have a great team oriented hero like Nymphora or Accursed as other options. Still, once he gets going on the items he can become extremely deadly. :D

thats sadly the problem with most carries in dota/HoN, they arent very team focused but nonetheless very needed

I'd expect the patch to come this Friday evening (PST).

Panda is coming, and Magebane gets a serious rework. He's going to be one of the best teamfighting heroes now.

Aw , I like the current magebane.

Btw, nome, I recall you said that enhanced marchers is the most important item for a ganker, what's the reason for that?

My guesses are:

-cheaper than Steam Boots, Post Haste (which isn't really a ganking item), and Portal Key
-requires Marchers, which is a cheap movement-boost item
-unit-walking, so he can't hide behind creeps

But Steamboots is +75 speed permanent, while enhanced is +60 with a speedboost of +10.

The attackspeed and damage is what makes it worthwhile on gankers and carries. On tanks and int, I'd get steamboots.

For those of you who haven't played the beta within the beta, there's an IRC channel that links to the Hon Beta Client Test Client. You can find the connection details to the IRC server & channel on the Hon forums.

The new hero, Pandomonium, is ok... he'll be good at picking out individual heroes for a team to mess up. He's got a flick ability that launches somebody over his back, adds -x armor and move slow. He's also got a push back called Flurry that attacks everything in an aoe + some % damage. If you combine him, Andromeda, and Kraken, you could essentially single out an opponent and put them in your base.

The new Magebane is still being worked on. His 3rd ability is being played with a bunch.

It's not +10, its +10%.

I'm not sure you are allowed to post those infos . Well this is what they wrote on the forum anyway :
This forum should be kept private. Do not post information about it in the main forums. Doing so will result in your removal from the beta test (unless you're a paid account, in which case we'll probably just ban you from the forums until release).

Well, I posted teasers :P
Best to not post any concrete information, still.

This is a fairly closed and niche forum that's not connected to the official HoN forums in any way though, so it's not a big problem.

EM is so horrible, can be winning 3:1 kill to death team ratio but let the game go on for 7 minutes and everyone on the other team is farmed with tier 4 items. Can't believe I thought playing that mode would be fun

I agree. I used to play it a lot, but now it just seems like people get their portal keys and post hastes and whatever other very expensive mid game item they want for very little effort. Especially if they go farming for it.

In normal mode, holding out for something like a Portal key actually puts you at a significant disadvantage (as opposed to picking up another bracer, for example), while on easy the money seems to come so fast that it doesn't really make a big difference.

Panda seems like hell be pretty OP. Was messing around with him in practice mode.

Flip behind, Then do the knockback 4 times then Ulti stun :lol

This is of course early game.
