Hey GAF, I'm addicted to bubble tea

Man I'm gonna find a recipe to make milk tea at home. It's like the perfect balance between milk and that mocha coffee taste

After living in Taiwan for a couple of years this, along with aiyu (ò-giô / 愛玉冰), is the thing I miss the most. My mandarin is pretty crap but I am fluent in ordering boba tea, so much so that the first time I went to Bubbleology in London I just ordered in Mandarin instinctively, it wasn't until I received a confused look that I realised.

Also I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by Bubbleology, I was expecting it to be a poor imitation of the real thing but it tastes almost as good as the stuff in Taiwan - London-GAF should definitely check it out. They overcharge massively though, a cup a large boba tea in Taiwan is about £1... at Bubbleology it's £3.75.

Holy shit, haha - you must be right near me! Austin, TX near Parmer, no? Did you go to Tomunchi or Tea Lounge? Or maybe there's tea places near Wingstop in tons of towns and I'll look really stupid :)

Does Tomunchi serve tea now? Last time I went they only had frozen yogurt.

The bf loves Tea Lounge, but as far as tea goes, I prefer Momoko's. Pain in the ass to get to though whereas we're always around Tea Lounge.

This stuff is getting really popular in germany. My favorite right now is coconutchocolate with strawberry pearls ^^

I've never had this before, at first I thought OP meant boba tea. I read this thread right before I went to sleep last night and I had a dream about this bubble tea.

Yep! Tomunchi has really good bubble tea! It's really more smoothies with tapioca, but they are pretty great. More along the lines of what Coco's puts out.

And, yeah, Momoko's is amazing, but like you said it'd hard to get to. And I've been unemployed for the last 2 months, so there's that as well.

Living up north can suck, but it's nice to live right across the street from a Frys!

Nope. Lafayette, Louisiana.
There just happens to be a place that specializes in bubble tea right next to Wingstop too!
The thai version wasn't overly sweet. I don't like drinks that are too sweet generally but the thai was a nice balance overall. Im thinking of trying a durian one next time.

No idea what this is, where can you find it? I'm in the midwest.

you need to have an asian shop of some sort near you. I think they're drinkable but I don't ever want to buy one. Much rather a smoothie.

I also think for sugar+water+ice+some chunks of weird goo; its overpriced. I can get a smoothie for the price

Hey, I like it :(

Too bad the only bubble tea here is awful. I want some of that buckwheat tea from Ten Ren

The best milk tea is:

Okay, you have to give us names at least.

The place I got it from actually serves both teas and regular smoothies, but both with the tapioca pearls at the bottom.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The original drinks are tea, of which there are typically way more flavors than you would find at a normal tea place. "Smoothie" type drinks are just additional options.

Love this stuff, in all its forms. Im not a guy with a sweet tooth usually but some milk tea and boba is a texture and taste phenomenon.

There's an international chain with branches in Australia called Chatime that do heavenly bubble tea. So damn good. Their tie guanyin and matcha lattes are also disturbingly addictive.

Boba tea is easy to make at home. It's much cheaper, plus you can add as much boba as you want (I like a lot). The trap is that it's far too easy to drink too much. I like this brand of boba because it's fast and idiot proof

I love bubble tea. The taro, sesame, and mango flavors are the best. Regular black tea flavor is pretty great, too.

Pretty good place in my local mall, but the best I've had so far was in New York.

I don't really chew on the "bubbles" though. Just kind of bounce them between my teeth a little before swallowing them whole.

Just had a nice big cup of taro milk tea yesterday. The guy who made it loaded it up with a shit ton of tapioca. Made me feel sick later on, but mmmmsogood.
