Hey GAF! Sequel to BloodBorne or Dark Souls 3?

Bloodborne 2 again. Yeah I'm voting once more. I am in love with BB's dark gothic atmosphere. More!!!

I think I would rather see something new. Either a straight up sci-fi with robots and aliens, or maybe a game centred around greek or biblical mythology like GOW or Divine Comedy.

Actually the Divine Comedy would make a great basis for a Souls game, and I wanna see someone do it justice.

Dark Souls because it's not tied down as an exclusive to anything.

If Bloodborne 2 and Dark Souls 3 is of similar quality, I really like the setting of Bloodborne, but I'd take the one that I can play at a decent framerate.

Souls.

Bloodborne is too grim for me, honestly. But I also hugely prefer the slower pace of combat in the Souls games as well.

Let me just post a quote from another simmilar topic from a while back.

This guy knows what we all secretly want.

Please click to view the original post including pictures.

Ok, what i want is a Cyber Souls.
Not just any cyberpunk Dark Souls tho, i want it to be a dark fantasy sci fi, with grotesque elements of body horror, deformed creatures, horrific body augmentations gone wrong, i want grease, rust and dust; i want dark, immense, foreboding structures with no clear purpose, with of course the usual mysterious, depressing atmosphere and brutal darkness at the ground level of every other Soul game.

To visualize it, picture the designs of Yasushi Nirasawa:

Now blend them with those of Takayuki Takeya:

And now put them in a world akin to Beksinski's paintings:

With a touch of Giger for good measure:

Now drown it in dark, ambient music, such as Lustmord's, and give it some edge with something harsher and energic, with a rock bent like Locrian or Shora.

Yeah do this, and baby, you've got a stew going.

Bloodborne, I prefer the faster paced combat and setting, I would kill to see 2 or 3 large DLCs dealing with the Great Ones, like Oedon or Kos/Kosm

Dark Souls 3, because it wouldn't be exclusive to PS4. Unless the Bloodborne sequel is like what Dark Souls is to Demon's Souls and is released for PC and Xbox One as well.

We can't get another exclusive title for now. Maybe Bloodborne DLC.
And on 2016 a new Dark Souls (or multi) will hit.
Like some people have said, they have to avoid fatigue. Also It takes around 2 years to develop a new game. So 2016 would be fine.

Dark Souls 3. I don't want any more exclusive Souls games because it limits the amount of people who get to play them

For me it's a matter of hardware. Bloodborne pre-patch had some unbearable loading times. I'd rather play something that's not bound exclusively to consoles.
Bloodborne was also extremely short compared to either of the Dark Souls games. And that's not even counting the "bad" areas of either Dark Souls.

Plus, there was literally zero customization in Bloodborne and no "class" options. The gameplay is pretty much identical no matter what weapons you use.

What's the difference between Demon's Souls and Dark Souls? Like, what could Dark Souls 2 offer that Demon's Souls 2 wouldn't, and vice versa? I haven't played either, and on the surface they seem incredibly similar.

Literally nothing. People love to romanticize Demon's as though Dark Souls would have somehow turned out differently if FROM was allowed to make Demon's Souls 2. It wouldn't have. They made exactly the next game that they wanted to make and simply changed the name.

honestly, dark souls 3
bloodbourne seems to be very limited setting wise, if they would go bloodbourne 2 they would have to work on that a lot, and I would have to offer many more builds, a real caster for starters

We'll get both anyway, DS3 will be 12-18 months away, I'll be happy with DS3 as long as they get their act together....the B team that is.

Absolutely Bloodborne. I played Bloodborne, in part, because of the gameplay. I played the Souls games in spite of the gameplay. I just don't want to trudge around like some slow dope who clumsily falls over to avoid attacks. The speed and mobility of Bloodborne ruined Souls combat for me.

Also, I hope the next game is exclusive, to be honest. It would suck for people who are missing out but the truth is that From is just kind of a bad developer on the technical end. If they throw out another game on every platform, look forward to fps in the teens, downgraded graphics upon launch, and bugs it takes them years to fix. With them concentrating all their effort on one fixed platform with first party assistance, it offers the best chance of getting things in the best shape.

People just want more content with Bloodborne which will undoubtedly come with future dlc, magic and covenants and more people to talk to is all people ask for. All gonna come with the call of Cthulhu expansion pack of course. The next Dark souls is happening from everything they said , hopefully they don't pussy out that much with appealing to new players since those guys can play the other games to prime themselves now. Whatever Miyazaki wishes to do next is gonna be fun.

I agree with the technical side of things, they just arnt that great, their games always have a fair few rough edges.

Exclusivity. Don't you know that exclusive games make everything better for everyone? :P

Yup, but please add things not remove them like Bloodborne, I guess not so many felt the game was pretty simple and lacks variety on builds and classes compared to Dark Souls/Demon Souls

I say it takes rummaging deeper through the Lego box to make something cool in Bloodborne. It's not as immediate as the stacks of bullshit you can throw together in Souls games, people aren't as inspired by fewer weapons that are more complex i guess. I can't see Bloodborne as the same thing as souls games now since i expect so much more of the weapons now.

I can understand the premise to be a hunter so why not only Hunter weapons, why not a bows, grenades and traps instead of heavy weapons as always and even a cannon are present in the game.

That's honestly a good question, OP.

I have no idea which one I want better. I love both games so, so much. <3

Dark Souls has more build and locale variety and a larger world. Its combat is more methodical and slower but with more variety in playstyles. Bloodborne has a more original setting, better atmosphere, and combat is less varied but more intense.

I just don't know. ;_; I want both. But hell I'd be happy with either one, honestly.

Or Demon's Souls 2. I'd go apeshit over that.

I want both and I'm sure that we'll see both.

Also I have a feeling that the DS2 team will surprise a lot of people pleasantly with DS3 considering the troubled development of DS2 and how good it turned out.

Namco, Sony, MS or Ninty I don't care who they partner with, I just wish that From will have the resources that they need to make the games they want in the future and that's it.

Another spiritual sequel,i think it´s better that way(new theme,lore,mechanics,etc)
Dino souls,ciberpunk,post-apocaliptic,systemshock souls or whatever you want to call it.
Miyazaki can make it work, the man is a genius.

Turning back to Souls combat would be an involution. I can't see myself coming back to that combat, BB is on a different league.

I think Bloodborne will get some DLC but inevitably it will be a stand alone title like its predecessor Demon's Souls. We will probably end up getting a Dark Souls 3 but honestly I'd rather see from revisit some of their other properties under Miyazaki's direction. Personally I'd love to see a reinvention of Armored Core. But we will likely just see many many sequels for Dark Souls as From has a history for pumping out sequels for its most successful franchises until they are no longer profitable. I kinda hope Miyazaki changes that tradition though.

I may be misreading the intent of this post but are you claiming insider knowledge on this?

In an ideal world, I'd like a new dark Sci-fi souls game inspired by the art of HR Giger, otherwise BB2 please, with the bonfire system from Dark Souls.

The only thing really annoying me about Bloodborne is having to warp back to hunters dream to respawn enemies when I want to farm or level up, it's time comsuming and pointless.

I also feel like the notes should work without having ps+, but that's too much to ask for, I know.

I'll take whatever floats Miyazaki's boat. Then again, I really don't think direct sequels are the thing we should be asking for.

Just get it done already and give me a Berserk game. Enough with the clear cut references, just secure the license somehow and get it over with!
Please...?

dark souls...bloodborne theme seems too limiting
And the theme of constant rebirth is not?

I want to see both. For Dark Souls 3, make sure there is logical level design and inspired weapons.

Bloodborne 2 should focus more on others hunters and even more of the end game themes. And introduce more Vampires.

Bloodborne. I hated, absolutely hated everything about the Souls games. From the by the numbers generic Medivial setting to the slow plodding combat and the over complicated inventory and upgrade systems to the vast numbers of very similar weapons. Bloodborne streamlined everything, introduced a unique, amazingly coherent world and actually went about punishing anybody that tried to play it like a Souls game. It feels like what the Souls games should have always been. I want more.
