High Court rules parliament must vote on triggering article 50 (Brexit)

Just a bit of casual racist dog whistling from the Sun.

I understand that it is reversible. A50 is very vague anyway. Europe doesn't want us out, if want to have another vote following the agreement of terms, it will be allowed.

I'm really not so sure about that anymore. Most politicians seem to have made their peace with Brexit and are just annoyed at the sheer xenophobia and paralysis emitting from England at this point.

The UK lost a lot of goodwill over the last couple of months (with Scotland gaining quite a bit).

Cool, Brexit is over according to the right wing press, I thought it was going to be a vote in parliament, but that's a bad thing all of a sudden.

Like, an MP got murdered by a British nationalist neo-Nazi about 5 months ago, and these rags are right back to this sort of reckless incitement.

All this "enemy of the people" shit has and will get people killed. It's abhorrent, and in a civilised society The Sun, The Mail and The Express would have been shut down years ago.

are people surprised by the headlines? papers in their nature have to appeal to the majority of people, and here they are appealing to a very clear 52% majority

The Sun joins in,

"Loaded foreign elite" from mouthpiece of Murdoch...

The sheer lack of understanding for how UK law works is really astounding, I know that not every leave voter is a moron, but they're making it really fucking hard not to think that

So parliament is upset that they must ratify the non-binding referendum? And they're upset because they're worried they might not listen to the will of the people? So then vote to implement article 50. You've called for the referendum, you said you would uphold the results, you said you would trigger article 50, just do it. Every step of the way it's been, "pass the buck, pass the buck." Do what you promised to or don't do it. Stop stalling and blaming everyone else.

Yeah it is incredible.

Just as intellectually lacking in self awareness as the Republicans in the US.

All this over a sensible decision made by the High Court that stipulates that parliament has to vote on the result of a non legally binding referendum.

I don't get why people want the executive branch of this government to have free reign on the issue with absolutely no accountability.

Well obviously, people don't trust politicians who were/are pro-remain to deliver on Brexit. So clearly we can't let Parliamentarians, who were broadly pro-remain, to have a voice.

Only May, chosen by fate to wield the Royal Prerogative, and who was pro-remain, can deliver on Brexit. We can all trust her to act in our best interests. Only enemies of the people would say otherwise.

Most are on pornhub nowadays, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Man, those Tories sure are angry they have to take a nice big bite out of the shit sandwich they've prepared and swallow.

Can ordinary people genuinely not comprehend the concept of parliamentary sovereignty?

Issue is Parliament voted to give the ordinary people the choice so they could avoid any of the blowback. Now after the ordinary people have voted the wrong way claiming sovereignty is a bit of a piss take.

They should have done it themselves from the start.

I assume someone uploaded some clip of her in a love scene from a movie or TV show. Yikes. Harry's 5th in line to the throne now, just let him do what he wants and see who he wants.
