High on Life out on PSN

Legit surprised that it didn't.

But then again, surprised that Stray also coming to Xbox but not on game pass, after being on PS+ for a year. These decisions make no sense.
They make perfect sense. You only need that boost to exposure once. Its not some lower tier of game that is only for rentals. After gaining exposure they want to sell copies

I loved it. Really looking forward to the dlc

Could be exclusion contracts?

Possibly "You can't be on competitors gamepass/PS+ service for X amount of time".

That'd be my guess.

That'd be my guess.

We saw in the Sony contracts that they had right of first refusal for games on subscription services for 6 months after the initial 1 year marketing contract so I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft has something similar.

Interesting reaction to the game.

I actually thought it was a very Sony-style game with how story keeps you going and amount of dialogue.

I enjoyed it. Played with dialogue setting to max so I don't miss anything, even if it got annoying 1 or 2 times.

Bad take. Wasn't like this game was universally praised when it released on Xbox either though. The reaction was mixed at best.

I'd say it's a fair take. Calling a spade a spade is ok in my book.
I remember people wondering about the rather low metacritic after having played it.

When you've been a warrior so long your reactions are on autopilot anything Xbox related.

This is actually a really great AA game. Sadly there are way too few which fall between the AAA blockbusters and the indy category. People really shouldn't miss out on this one just because they are salty they had to wait a few months.
Yes cause this was received so well on release lmao.

Good try, I played this on my xbox and hated it. I also very much dislike rick and morty.

We have Xbox fans in this very thread who are saying this $60 game is worth about $20. Perfect Game Pass game. I'd agree with that assessment. I finished the game and enjoyed it, but no way would I pay $60 for it.

Doesn't it have an average of 7/10? Seems pretty well received, not to mention accurate for this one. Around 7/8 is probably what I'd give it.

67 Xbox, 69 PC. Metacritic had scores as high as 95 and as low as 30. That's quite a spread including a score of 40 from Pure Xbox. Safe to say this is a "love it or hate it" type of game.

Yeah so pretty much a 7/10.

You'd think this'd be 3/10 by how some people talk about it in here.

Price I think plays a big part in how well a game will be received. $60 is a lot for this game. As others have said, this is a perfect Game Pass/PS+ game.

How many games would you pay $70 for currently?

I honestly can't think of a single one, and it's been the case for a while now. Even Starfield doesn't look like $70 to me but I know that's just me and plenty of people would pay $100 for that one

The real question becomes:

How many months of gamepass is this game worth?

Most games are worth one month ($18)
Few games are worth two months ($36)

etc.

Play, enjoy, discard and move onto the next. Just like the game we are discussing here.

I think GP should have a weekly tier.

Games like Starfield, WoW, yeah… those might be worth buying I guess

I paid full price for Diablo 4. Going to pay $80 for Starfield on green man gaming. Just paid $60 (on sale) for Jedi Survivor. Plenty of games are worth full price to me. High on Life isn't one of them. And I really liked the game. But again......it was on Game Pass. That's makes a big difference. If were not on Game Pass we wouldn't even be talking about it.

Pretty much, launching this at full price makes it a harder recommendation but being on game pass day one was a no-brainer and like you, I ended up enjoying it a lot.

Didn't it sell pretty well at launch even if it didn't have the highest reviews? It should be able to squeeze a bit more out on PS5 to justify bringing it over. Personally it's a great one to wait for on PS+.

It could've launched day one on ps5 and I still wouldn't want to play it. Rick and Morty style comedy got old years ago.

If that rustles your jimmies, I don't give a shit.

Great game, I'd probably pass at $60. It's a perfect $30-40 AA game. Some of the boss fights are amazing, and the exploration once you open up the powers is really cool as well. But the main draw for me was the humor and fucked up situations the game puts you in.

I mean, they do make sense if the developer/publisher is hoping to make some more money on direct sales.

Great game. One of the very few I've actually finished recently, which says a lot. Looking forward to the DLC.

The game just got an update from 1.00 to 1.03. Hope it's a day 1 patch that improves the frame rate and screen tearing. Fingers crossed.

It's just a way to gain some extra sales, from that perspective I think it makes perfect sense. I definitely think Stray will arrive on Gamepass too.

1) PS+, to get noticed and get a bag of money
2) Xbox store, extra sales
3) Gamepass, extra bag of money and more talk
4) Great Success!

Same thing happens when it start on Xbox, look at The Ascent that just went up on PS+ but released on PS store earlier this year and Gamepass first.

I'm waiting on Sifu, should go up on some subscription library eventually, either on PS or Xbox, it's everywhere now and the talk has slowed down so it's time.

Wow this came out before Justin Roiland was exiled from fame, this is probably the last release you'll hear his voice.
I'm against almost all cancel culture, but this creep's leaked texts and emails with young girls made me not feel bad for him at all. And I loved Rick and Morty.

I thought that only Sony made timed exclusive deals

Hold on. I thought this was an Xbox exclusive :/
oprah-what.gif

I said it before, well...Scorn is now already announced for PS5....I'm waiting for a few other games that launched on Game Pass that we had no idea had timed exclusive deals.

Hell, the Google search info still has Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, lol. At least the wiki is updated.

Bruh you were like 8 or 9 years old when "early 2000's games" came out. This is definitely not the style of the games you were playing back then 😂. Show me one example of a game anywhere remotely close to the style of this one from the early 2000's.
Still very much was able to play those older games, not like being 9 in 2000 stopped me playing anything before 2000 hah. As others said, the gunplay style of Halo with even some Doom/Quake stylings thrown in once you get a certain item, plus the humour of your Earthqorm Jim or Oddworld.

I do get your post though, which I'm assuming like you said is a genuine interest in what I like about it as normally someone of my age hasn't played actual 90s games. I was just lucky dad had an Atari and then Dreamcast that we then found ourselves with Nintendo and eventually PlayStation. Plus got really into DOS games when I got into high school.

Yes! I absolutely was interested in what you like. I often call people out in Gaf for things, but I legitimately wanted to know. Even based on a recent poll here, the majority of folks here are older, me being born in '81 👴😂. I always wondered how younger people viewed their childhood video games who were much younger. I know mine was magical seeing Atari, NES, then Snes and Genesis, then moving to HD.

I definitely see Halo and Quake gameplay feels with the fps shooter styles. Super pumped you mention Earthworm Jim and Oddworld…that is interesting, didn't really think of Earthworm Jim, the dialogue does actually seem similar truthfully!

Thanks for sharing! And thanks for not thinking I was just being an ass and/or trolling. A lot of folks here don't get that when I get worked up and sound mean like I'm calling someone out, I seriously just hope for more explaining about their thoughts. I'm probably on at least 100 users ignore lists here 😂. I'm passionate about gaming, as it has literally saved my life in the past….so really, thanks for taking my reply at face value and actually explaining, respect ✊

I don't put any stock into metacritic but it got a lot of positive reviews. Opencritic score was like 6.7.

Not feeling this one after some YT.
