Hint at Persona 3 FES coming to US?

They have to release something! This is the first time I can remember were I wasn't excited about an Atlus USA release.

Uhh... what? Atlus has had tons and tons of great games for, like, 10+ years now.

If you guys want an independent confirmation from Derek Stephen Prince about that VA credit on his homepage, he's attending a convention in Houston this weekend. I can make sure he gets asked about it.

He was probably asked by Atlus to take it down, since some of them post here.

That is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME NEWS if true though:D

But how does the expansion work anyways? Do you start with the expansion disk or does it require the HDD?

So how does the FES thing work? Is it the original game + new content, or new content that you have to load up a save from the regular game up?

The thought of P3 going to the Wii makes me cry with sorrow. Please don't make me cry.
P3 FES only on PSP would make me cry, I don't want to buy one. :( I still need to get a Wii for SMG, PSP's out of my reach.

Don't be silly guys, P3 FES would be on PS2 if/when it comes out. There's no logical reason for them to change platforms for an expansion to a game that was released a few months ago.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be terrible for us to get FES only as a PSP release. If P3 were ported to the PSP - and I have this bizarre feeling that it might - I just wouldn't be surprised to see that be the method to get us Americans FES.

(Really, though, I'd love to see P3 on the PSP, for some odd reason.)

yeah. it's like this:

Episode Yourself (original game) has added content and new systems like weapon fusing a la Devil Summoner, a brand new Arcana with new Personas, more commus, hard mode added and some other stuff

Episode Aegis is an epilogue of sorts, which is like 30 hours long (this is new stuff, that wasnt in the original release).

So...do you just put in the expansion disc and play your save from that one?

Pretty much unless they released the append disk only, in which you need the original game to start it up the first time.

why does everyone keep talking about ports of FES if it happens, has there been any indication that it would be ported at all? Or is it because FES is an expansion that lies on top of the game so it would basically be P3 rereleased with FES content, since its the US.

While FES is cool news, I'm quite interested in the Baroque remake. Anyone know if it's actually good or not?

I'm not sure how the remake itself stacks up to the original, but I can say the soundtrack was a big disappointment. Masharu Iwata did a subperb job on the original. For the remake, they got Shigeki Hayashi. Now, I expected he'd do a good job, because I absolutely loved the work he did for Sting on Riviera and Yggdra Union... but it was not to be.

Stupidity? Christ, it's not like any gamer with the slightest shred of self-respect doesn't already have a PS2. Just let Atlus release it on the platform it's already on.

thats what I'm saying, I didn't quite understand why everyone is asking for ports to wii and psp.

SF4's unconfirmed development team and format.
SoA2 rumors.
Fes for NA rumors.

Man; a lot of tugging at my heart-strings this week in gaming. I'm almost scared to ask what's next.

So Baroque's coming over, eh? It doesn't look nearly as interesting for its time as the original, but I'm still curious.

I wish Sting would can the ports and remakes for a bit. :/

I really want to see a new game from them.

Why the hell do these retards keep coming into threads of PS2 games to ask for ports? If you want a game, you buy the fucking system it's on. If you don't want to buy the fucking system, you shut the fuck up about it. Jesus, this is worse than the MGS4 on the X360 posts.

PS: You're awesome, Atlus.

I, uhm... already have it on PS2. I just happen to think it would be swell on the PSP as well.

do people not realize the purpose of portable games anymore?

I mean, do people think the PSP was created just to have games that will later be ported to the Wii? no, it was made to play video games anywhere.

Persona 3 would actually be an awesome game on PSP, you can go up a few floors while on the bus or something, then put it on sleep and continue on.

too big for UMD, give up. it's never happening.

I seriously doubt the game would be too big for UMD. Not all that much actual cutscene time (and h.264 encoding at 480x272 wouldn't take up much room at all), and voices and music can be compressed while still sounding good on the PSP's speakers / headphones. Otherwise, there really isn't a whole lot to the game, when you consider how small it is territory wise.

I'm impressed that we have already gotten from "Plz plz Atlus bring over this niche-ass expansion disc for an already niche-ass game that everyone kind of already assumed was not going to come out in the US" to "and while you're at it, spend extra $$$ completely recoding it to release on a completely different platform." Good work everyone! :D

Given how Atlus JP has treated the PSP so far you honestly think a PSP port is likely? More likely than a Wii port even? Really?
Really?

Anyway yeah, I'm usually dead set against these type of ports my-self, but for some reason I really want to hit shadows with the Wiimote. o.O

:lol Thanks, I needed the laugh.

Even though I haven't finished P3 yet I can't wait for this, I have been treating P3 like a fine wine, taking in small sips in order to savor it. I'm currently up to August and its already the best RPG I have played.

What's FES stand for? It seems to be related to Persona 3 from your post, but does it stand for something?

A spin-off of the RPG Persona, Fes (or "Festival of Persona 3") consists of Persona 3's content along with 30 hours of additional gameplay. The new gameplay comes primarily in the form of the "Gojitsudan," a story sequence that comes after the original's ending, with new cinematic sequences in addition to the added gameplay. While the main storyline is the same, it's been tuned up with new events. Gameplay has been updated as well, with a new "hard" setting (the original had just easy and normal), 23 new Personas, a weapon synthesis system and a system for changing your characters' clothes.

You can start a new game on Fes with any save from P3, it doesn't have to be a clear save. But unlike a normal New Game+ from a clear save, you don't keep most of your stuff, so it's a lot closer to just starting from scratch.
To clarify, this applies to all P3 saves or just the non-clear saves?
No answer to this yet...anyone know exactly what transfers over from a P3 save to FES? And if there's any difference in using a regular P3 save as opposed to a clear?

in swedish, it's the past tense for "to fart". because of that I have this notion that the case is going to smell like it :(

It applies to all P3 saves. P3 Fes doesn't differentiate between a clear save and a regular save. You don't get much though, it only carries over the Persona database, your academy/charm/courage parameters, special items you get from maxing out communities and the mixraid list. Everything else is reset.

That's acceptable to me, saves time on grinding in the first couple of months so one can focus on the social links. Does your level carry over at all, since the Persona database does?

Really?

I have no solid explanation for why I think Atlus JP is going to port P3 to the PSP. It's just a weird feeling that I've had for a while now.
