Hitman: Absolution - Living, Breathing World trailer

Their animations are pretty bad, I hope it's only the trailers that focus on them and you don't have to endure cut scenes like these during gameplay, just casually walk by all of that, only looking or listening in from afar etc.

I like to bump my own threads when they are about to exist page 1 too.

I know that feel bro. The curse of making niche threads.

About the trailer, it didn't do a good job of telling me what the breathing world is supposed to mean for the gameplay.

The graphics are meh as well.

I don't think they have done a good job of selling this game to the public.

Hm, it was a response to the guy above me but whatever. Graphics are nice imho, but the character models are not really great.

Come on Dennis don't be an asshole.

Trailer looked great, so hyped for it.

Seemed like compressed textures from the consoles. The PC version will look a lot nicer if the sniper challenge is any indication.

Are you talking about the masses? Or returning Hitman fans? I think they have done a good job finally letting fans know that everything is going to be okay. Sorry but they could have the best marketing in the world, but November is Halo and CoD month for the masses. It is very sad indeed.

oh my god so rude

What was so great about the trailer? I didn't think it did a good job showing this supposed living breathing world. The graphics were not exactly stellar either.

Regardless of what play style you adopt, you will enjoy a unique playthrough experience as you enjoy the rich variation in a living breathing world. A world filled with incredibly intelligent characters all displaying richly detailed synthetic life, where everyone you meet may well have a bigger part to play in Hitman: Absolution.

I see that Lauren Wainwright has expanded her vocabulary.

Feels like they're releasing a hitman trailer every week when what it really needs is a demo. There's too many questions that can't be answered until the game is in people's hands.

Dude was wearing nothing but socks in a public bathroom? Ick.

Trailer looks amazing, btw. Funny how months of "IO is the devil incarnate" can get turned around by a coherent and engaging marketing campaign.

Have seen gameplay. 47 pushed someone down the roof. Countless witnesses around. Noone cared.

It can obviously still be fun.

Let me turn that question, what wasn't so great about this trailer? to me this looks like a real Hitman game.

I really don't know what problem GAF still has against this game but i'm tired of defending it.

The levels are going to linear compared to Hitman Blood Money. IO is taking one step forward, two steps backwards.

Bullshit. There are only a few chapters that are not as open as others.

The levels will be designed differently to those of Blood Money and as a consequence wont be as open ended, but broken down into smaller segments using checkpoints which ensure you can't re enter a previous part of the level. Targets will have to be killed progressively instead of the order you choose. A core part of the Hitman sandbox will be butchered.

So much bull merda in one post. Congratulations. You clearly haven't read any reviews and previews. Also, completely ignoring Contracts mode.

Absolution will blow Blood Money away. The NPCs in Blood Money were lifeless. IOI has more than 2000 pages of dialogue for Absolution. Graphics are fine too. There are so many NPCs in the game. It's impossible to render every face to the fullest detail.

You mean he hasn't read the previews you personally choose to approve of, ie, not previews like the RPS one. It's weird how you've already decided the game is awesome and anyone mentioning even the remote possibility it isn't all that, even after playing parts of it, is so obviously wrong. Have you played through it all? What makes it so great, other than PR blurbs like living world and whatever else? How is the level and mission design better than Blood Money (or rather, how is it simply great, regardless of such comparisons, as not everyone has played that)? If you have played it and can discuss things like that rather than confront anyone thinking otherwise in such a hostile manner you'll probably advertise the game you somehow already love so much better. As for the graphics, if you think they're fine that doesn't invalidate others thinking they aren't. That's an opinion everyone can have even before playing. Anyway, everyone here is hoping the game will be awesome, however, keeping expectations tempered and pointing out potential threats to said awesomeness instead of believing everything PR writes (or limited early previews which may as well be PR) won't somehow make those same people unable to enjoy the game if it's actually great and proves their fears false once released. While if they prove right, well, disappointment will be that much easier to accept, I guess. It's win/win really...

This cracked me up. Dude, it's just a thread. And a rather effortless one at that; it's just a link to a video. You make it sound like a rather big issue. And he didn't bump it, a guy posted like thirty seconds before him.

I see this more and more. People spelling "no one" as "noone".

Mistakes or deliberate?

Deliberate, I think. As a person who has English as my second language, I can see why people would write noone. It sort of makes sense with how the English language has words like "anyone". You don't write "any one"; you write "anyone", and as such "noone" makes sense to some. Especially with how fast you pronounce it. When you say "no one" there's barely a pause between the "no" and the "one".

This is pretty funny since you're one of the most easily hyped people on the planet. You go on a massive splurge for months before a game comes out and as soon as it's released you move on to your next hyped game. I'm not convinced you've actually played any games you post about so much in the pre-release threads. I'd almost think you were a PR mouthpiece if you didn't do it for such a wide variety of games.

On-topic, the trailer is pretty nice. I absolutely hate the phrase "living, breathing world" now though. It's not 2001 anymore and GTA 3 was a long time ago. Let's find a new marketing buzzword, shall we?

I'll be interested on seeing how this final product turns out. The old Hitman games were way too clunky for their old good, so if this can provide some good stealth that isn't as mechanically broken, I'll bite for a reduced price.

Let's just say I spoke to people who played it, I read dozens of positive previews and reviews. It's funny how you mention the RPS preview again. That seems to fascinate most people here, while in reality it contains false information. Sure, not everything is perfect about Absolution. They made some debatable decisions, but it will be a decent follow-up, I'm sure about that.

PC Games (the German one) released an excellent and thorough review (8 pages!) and they gave Absolution an excellent score of 88% (including a gold and editor's choice award).

I have the feeling that the general consensus here is to be negative about this game and that is really tiresome if you want to have a good discussion.

i saw some comments elsewhere about how this wasn't focusing on what makes Hitman great

thankfully everyone here seems to have actually played one of these games before. the little things you can notice in the levels have always been a large part of the series

How is it funny I mention it, when clearly the only reason I mention it, as I pointed out, is that you disagree with it because it doesn't agree with your (living, breathing) world view. I haven't even read it yet, but I don't see what could make it so easily dismissible like that, especially given RPS' caliber. I'm personally looking forward to the review(s?) they will do.

So anyway, I guess you don't have any more first hand info than others, just choose to get so hyped. Why be surprised others don't choose the same? Your posts attacking people for thinking it's not the second coming (although in a matter of two posts it has gone down from blowing the predecessor away to just being a decent sequel, heh) could be considered tiresome too.

Feels like they're releasing a hitman trailer every week when what it really needs is a demo. There's too many questions that can't be answered until the game is in people's hands.

I'm surprised they haven't announced one. I remember the cool Blood Money one. Hours of fun replaying that one. And it's the best form of advertising for me. As I'll know whether the game is worth getting. I played the X-Com demo loved it and brought the game.

I wish more devs would get that. I know some games coming up AC,Halo 4,BO2 don't need demos but Hitman is out the week after CoD you would think that SE would want good word of mouth from a solid demo. I know they had the sniper game but that's not a demo of the actual game.

There is still time to announce one so lets see.

There is one phrase in that review which I see popping up here and that is that gunfights are unavoidable. That isn't true. Developers confirmed that every level can be finished Suit Only and Silent Assassin.

It's really frustrating when people keep advertising wrong information.

i don't believe we got one for Deus Ex, so i don't have high hopes for one here. though i do agree if any game needs a demo, it's this one

Well, you seem to choose to view what they said that way, I see a different interpretation for "but too often they seem the only option, or at the very least, the favourable option". That's not at all as definitive as your paraphrasing and responses to it imply. Plus, it's not a review. Dishonored for example can supposedly be 100% completed without any kills but for me personally, completing a side quest in a whole different part of a certain mission that then instantly makes the targets disappear with only a character's description of what happened to them to go off of wasn't very satisfying so the favourable option would be to sneak in and assassinate them myself even if I would have liked a more hands on approach to a non lethal solution far more. So, if RPS had said that Dishonored seems to only give the option of killing, or at least make it the favorable option, I would agree even if you, every Dishonored fan, and the devs, rushed to say how it's false. Just saying, I dunno if similar applies here (neither do you).

I admit I'm hyped, because I've been a fan of the franchise since 2000. I'm new on GAF, so maybe I need to learn to subdue my enthusiasm (which I indeed did in a matter of two posts, a bit hypocritical I'm afraid :( )

Be as hyped as you want, just don't be surprised/frustrated if others aren't >_>

With Deus Ex the beta leaked and Eidos was cool to allow people to share impressions on official forums.

We have a lot of reserves on this game, it might be the first Hitman with its own dedicated midnight. I've been impressed with the game, it had better turn out right since IO made us deal with two Kane and Lynch games.

*waits for the people willing to forgive anything and everything because they kind of liked the story/camera effects a little bit*
